Q: My great grandparents' kamon was the crane and I was thinking of getting it as a tattoo for a symbol of my family. However, I'm not sure which it is. I've bought a book on Japanese Crests especially for this, and saw a couple of crane crests but was wondering if there's an origami crane kamon? And if there is, what is the meaning of it?Thank you very much for the help in advance!
I found an origami crane crest. It is called Orizuru Omodaka (折鶴沢潟) or Omodaka Orizuru (沢潟折り鶴). e-mon .jp/kamon/kamon12.html (on the 7th row, 2nd from the left) Orizuru = origami crane. As the previous answerer said, cranes are considered as sacred birds (reichou; 霊鳥) which bring us luck and happiness. They are also considered as a symbol of longevity as you can see in the following saying. 鶴は千年亀は万年 Cranes live for 1000 years, turtles live for 10000 years. Omodaka = a plant that stands near water. It is also called Kachigusa (勝ち草 = plant of victory). Hope this helps.
Q: What are the special operators of tower cranes?
Specific include construction lifting signal division, cable construction, lifting machinery, tower crane driver (T), construction crane, tower crane installation, demolition worker (T), and height job basket, installation, demolition workers.
Q: its either Japanese, chinese, or okinawan, but which is it?
Didn't you just ask this question a couple of days ago? When you do this, you set yourself up to be reported. When you say the stature, do you mean stance and posture? I'm taking that as a yes... Here is the answer - there is no single crane stance. All the postures and stances you practice in Crane arts are Crane stances and postures. I am a student of White Crane. There is a Crane style that originated in Tibet that is actually related to the White Ape. Then there is the White Crane school developed in the Yong Chun Village in Fukien Province, China. The Okinawans where taught concepts of White Crane, some of the forms and the most important part of White Crane which is Sam Chien training - aka Sanchin. This is the Internal training which develops Iron Body.
Q: science project
It is neither. The way a crane works is with a winch or a drum that will roll the cables in and out Of course the winch has to be powered, it can be hydraulic, electric, diesel , V-8, or the old Egyptian way with block and tackle. If the system is powered with a hydraulic motor it still does not make it a hydraulic machine by definition
Q: I am trying to beat the level for the paper cranes on we love katamari damacy, and its really difficult.Anyways, i have completed all of the other levels so far except for a few like the clouds, save the pandas etc., do i have to complete the paper cranes to access these levels?
Lol I know what you're coming from. You don't exactly have to get 1000 cranes. Try to roll up as many cranes as you can get (tiny cranes count as well). From the start, don't just roll up cranes. You want to grow your katamari so you would be able to roll around more stuff. If there are small things that ARE NOT cranes and is your katamari size, roll them up. That will make your katamari bigger and allow you to roll up more bigger sized cranes. Since most cranes are bigger than the katamari that you start the level with, roll up random things to make your katamari bigger. The bigger your katamari is, the easier it is to roll up many cranes. I managed to roll up about 600 cranes on my first try (after replaying the game on a new file). Did you unlock the clouds and save the pandas yet? If you did, yo don't have to complete the paper cranes to access those levels. You just need to complete the paper cranes, the clouds and the pandas to unlock more levels.
Q: in the Open Boat by Stephen Crane, in part IV why are the characters not identified?
The characters are defined by their roles on the boat. Their previous experiences or personalities don't matter here. It is just the narrow repetitive experience of rowing and how they each contribute to it. Each character is Everyman, being thrown around by the merciless, indifferent hand of Fate. I think that Crane was squarely in the company of Naturalists (they think there's no such thing as individual agency, like Darwinism in fiction). The interesting thing to think about here is that one character has a name - Billie, the oiler. Why is this? He's the strongest, he's the most experienced and he's the one that dies. He's an individual to the reader but Fate doesn't care. I'm sure you can flesh the ideas out now.
Q: They like fly on peoples face, i dont know why they come up on the face and it creeps me out, i have no idea why it comes inside of the house in the first place?
They come inside the house looking for mosquitoes! Crane Flies are great mosquito hunters, in fact we call them skeeter eaters. I'm from the south, plenty of mosquitoes here and we love Crane Flies. They're totally harmless to people or anything else besides mosquitoes, and since mosquitoes are proven carriers of numerous deadly diseases such as malaria, yellow fever, and the dreaded Nile virus, I'd much rather have Crane Flies around me than mosquitoes. Do yourself a favor and learn a bit more about these fascinating and very helpful critters, I'm sure you'll be willing to cut them a little slack if you do. edit Leolupus is correct! It turns out after 40 years I was completely wrong ~ they do *not* eat mosquitoes. I have been informed by an expert (my father-in-law, who is an entomologist at Texas AM and laughed at me when I mentioned this question my answer) that adult Crane Flies eat flower nectar, decaying vegetation, seedling plants, mosquito larva (but not adult mosquitoes) or nothing at all depending on their species. They are, however, harmless to humans since they're totally unable to bite, though they're considered a pest by some farmers due to the habit of some species of dining on young crops. Oh well, sometimes you start out trying to teach someone a lesson and you end up learning one instead. Thanks for bringing up this subject, Bebe :-)
Q: Which Kung Fu influenced Shotokan, Shito-ryu and Shorin-ryu?
White Crane, Whooping Crane*, Hsing/Xing Yi, Shaolin Monk Fist*, are all 'known' influences of Okinawan martial arts. However it should be noted that there are over 1,000 years of contact between the Ryukyu islands and China starting in the late 600's*. So there are many, many possible influences of Okinawan martial arts. Goju Ryu was heavily influenced by White Crane, namely because of Xie Zhongxiang (Ryuru Ko) who taught Higaonna Sensei his altered system of Whooping Crane Kung Fu. Goju Ryu was also influenced by Shaolin Monk Fist, and Baguazhang, when Miyagi Sensei spent his time in China in the Fuzho Province (also Fujian). The linear style that you are looking for comes from the Shaolin influence. There's a great person to ask any questions on Goju Ryu on here. His sn is nwohioguy, and he is quite knowledgeable. EDIT - To satisfy your hunger for the Tiger Style and it's involvement in Karate's development, I will offer this. Tiger was a style taught at the Shaolin Temple so it may have some influence. Even though many different styles have had influence throughout the years, the most notable are the White Crane of Shaolin and Hsing Yi. Shotokan is of similar origins as Goju Ryu with Sokon/Bushi Matsumura studying White Crane as well in China, and Ankoh Itosu studying under him. Those two trained Gichin Funakoshi who formulated Shotokan from that while in Japan. EDIT - Yup, I'd have to second Shihan J about Okinawan Karate being influenced by more than just China. (I left it only in the China realm because that was your focus, but there was a lot going on to influence the growth of that area.)
Q: I can't seem to find the item I'm looking for on-line. Maybe some fellow crane operator happens to know where I can find this. It's a quick releasing crane hook, it drops the load on cue. I think it would probably be remote-controlled.
What load rating are you looking for? I am familiar with heavy lift cranes and smaller ones that do not have any sort of release device that you are looking for. Most rated crane hooks have to be qualified to carry that load and any quick release feature could fail, dropping the load. Maybe you could find such a hook for a non-industrial application, but I have never seen anything like this in use.
Q: A crane operator was extended his Tadano crane boom(two section of boom out of five) at almost 0 degree boom angle. My question is-Is it safe to lift any load at 0 degree boom angle.
I suppose Tadano is the manufacturer and they make several models most of which are safe at zero degrees with two sections extended. The weight of the extended cable and hook need to be added to the weight being lifted or lowered, so the allowable weight could be zero for a very long cable. Some safety factor is present, so you may choose to push your luck. A cable that breaks suddenly can whip around in a dangerous manner. If you bend the boom replacement will be very costly. If the boom was bent in a previous lift, it is much weaker than an unbent boom and the extending feature may jam. Neil
