- Q:I'm folding 1000 origami cranes for my upcoming wedding. It's a tradition. I'm trying to find a website that can show me how to make the cranes into a large picture or an idea for a mobile. I found some sites that show pictures of each, but nothing with a how to on it.
- from most of the pictures i saw, it seems pretty simple to figure out thinking of it logically. Origami cranes, string, wood sticks, Love and care. And with a bit of your own creativity and whatever supplies you can gather I think you will do a great thing. (making a paper crane now :)
- Q:What is the dumbest bird in the aviary community? Is it really the Crane?
- You are correct the crane is the dumbest bird in the aviary community. It tries to fly but with no luck and the male cranes are always looked down upon by there female counter parts.
- Q:My science teacher wants to know why cranes make work easier rather than just lifting an object yourself. She refers to the formula of force x distance. So i have to compare (in a way) the work of a human lifting an object and a crane lifting an object. Grrrr.... I hate this project!
- The type of crane she is referring to ia a simple pole with a fulcrum placed between the person operating the crane, and the mass to be lifted. Imagine a weightless pole with a rope tied to one end attached to a mass of weight 224 lbs The pole is 9 feet long Let's say the human weighs 112 lbs, or half of what is to be lifted. Without a crane, it will be difficult to lift that much and swing it around. With the crane, though, let's look at the advantage when a fulcrum is placed under the pole and the person pushes down on the pole to lift the weight. First, note that gravity is in favor of the person to use their weight on the pole. Using physics, with the fulcrum place at x from the mass to be lifted, the downward force of the person is F*(9-x)=224*x or F=224*x/(9-x) now plug in some values for x and compute the force: x F 4.5 224 3.5 143 2.5 86 1.5 45 0.5 13 I started by placing the fulcrum exactly in the middle and then moving the fulcrum in increments of 1 foot closer to the weight to be lifted Notice that the more pole towards the person pressing down, the less force the person has to apply to lift the weight. Also, note that when the fulcrum is in the middle, the person must apply a downward force equal to the weight - which willl be difficult foir a person that weighs 112lbs. However, once the fulcrum is placed 2.5 ft from the weight, the person only need apply 86 lbs of downward pressure. Leverage. j
- Q:How to build a strong paper crane?
- Fact: paper is relatively strong when you pull on it, but when you push on it, it easily crumples. Build your crane out of several bars. Bars that are being pushed upon by the weight need to resist the crumpling. A good way to do this is to roll a sheet of paper into a tube form to make the bars. Bars that are only being pulled on don't need to be more than a sheet of paper. A frame cranes are simple to make: www.lni.wa /wisha/rules/generalsafety/images/24_d2_a-frame.gif
- Q:Do they have to be taken apart... if so, how are they taken apart... by another crane? - but how did that one get there etc etc
- Big cranes do have to be disassembled into truck sized pieces for transport, and then reassembled on site. Usually, this is done by smaller cranes, which are mobile. Sometimes a big crane can be assembled on the ground with small cranes, and then lift itself into the air. Sometimes smaller cranes are assembled by bigger cranes on the site. Some of the biggest cranes are tower cranes, which sit on tob of a skinny tower and rotate around. These are assembled on the ground and then lift themselves into the air by building the tower under themselves. Look at the attached link to see how this is done.
- Q:You see cranes on the floor which rise about 50 metres, but sometimes, when building high sky scrapers, I see cranes on the 70th floor or the 80th floor. How do they put the the crane so high up there when it can only go up high around 60-70 metres?
- The cranes are built in the elevator shafts and moved up as needed during work progress.
- Q:why do whooping cranes migrate? If its because its to cold in the winter then why not stay in the warm weather?
- It is freezing cold in the upper Midwest during the winter. Whooping cranes simply cannot find any food, even if they can endure the cold. During the summer, the upper Midwest has longer daylight hours and slightly cooler temperatures. than their wintering grounds in Florida. The longer hours allow them and their young more time to gather food. Reproduction is very taxing on the female body, even if it is just laying eggs. The young need the extra time and nutrition to grow quickly into adult sized birds. Small birds are more vulnerable to predators.
- Q:Where do Cranes (the bird), typically live in ohio?
- yes
- Q:ok, so if chad is a crane then why doesnt he stay in the mansion? he is a crane right?
- Yes he is a Crane! It turned out that he is Alistair's son by Liz and not related to Whitney in any way because Liz and Eve are only step-sisters. LOL I do believe they stay in the Crane mansion now. It hasnt been made real clear but they are there quite often, even at bedtime / night time, and she is always there to talk to Teresa whenever the blackmailer scares her. Also, his birthday party last week was at the Crane mansion wasnt it? I think they stay there now that Alistair is no longer there.
- Q:I have to build a hydralic system that can pick up a paper clip . the supplies you are allowed to use are 10 straws, 5 pipe cleaners, 1 yard of masking tape. 10 note cards. 2 syringes and tubing. 5 rubber bands. 8 popsicle sticks. 2 feet of string. 1 magnet. Please help.
- Obviously you must link the syringes with tubing, fill all with fluid, no air spaces, and then use the plunger in one to make plunger move in the other. That will be the hydraulic motion. You must make this motion to move the magnet up and down. How you construct the magnet holder to move the magnet by syringe action is up to you.
