- Q:I don't do a lot of stuff like this, so I'd appreciate some information about how to do this: basically, I'm trying to route a coaxial cable from outside into the house. The cable is outside, and needs to go through the outside brick layer, then through the wall itself (through insulation?) then through the drywall (through a new outlet plate too).Any suggestions about how to go through the wall with a wire? I'd even appreciate a link to a how-to site as well.Thanks.
- you are going to have to drill a hole thru the brick, a 1/4 masonary bit should do the job. Make sure by drilling a hole in a scrap piece of wood first to make sure the cable fits. Before drilling, go inside the house and cut out the drywall smaller than the outlet plate, which will cover the hole later and check for any electrical wiring or plumbing and move your drilling location if needed. Go back outside and drill thru the brick or block at this point and feed your cable thru. Stuff a little extra cable down in the wall space after you've pulled enough for your interior run. When you are sure you have all you need, put a little silicone caulking outside around the cable at the brick to weatherproof and keep out the bugs.(silicone caulking can be found in almost any color). You can pretty much push the cable thru most any type of insulation you find in the wall. Hope this helps.
- Q:The difference between power cable and overhead cable
- . the power cable occupies less. Generally buried in the soil or laying in the room, the channel, the tunnel, the line between the insulation distance is small, no tower, covers an area, basically does not occupy the ground space. The overhead cable is the opposite. . power cable reliability. Affected by climatic conditions and the surrounding environment, transmission performance is stable, high reliability. . the power cable has to ultra-high pressure, large capacity development of more favorable conditions, such as low temperature, superconducting power cables. . the power cable distribution capacitor larger. Overhead cable is the opposite . the power cable maintenance work less overhead cable is the opposite . the power cable electric shock is unlikely. The overhead cable is the opposite
- Q:On my power cable, (the thing that plugs into the wall, and laptop to charge it) well in the middle of the cord, there is a rectangle black box. What is it called, and what is the purpose of it?
- its a transformer to cut the mains plug voltage down to the same voltage as the battery which will be around 16volts to 20 volts for a laptop, the desktop PC will have the same transformer built into the tower casing beside the fan,but you just cannot see it, and there will be a voltage selector switch for the country you are using it in ie-UK =220-240volts, USA=110 volts or similar, both the laptops and desktops use the same internal operating low voltages, and mains voltage would fry everything inside ,that's why they are fitted with the transformers.
- Q:Hi I have a 94 Cadillac Deville 4.9L and im trying to figure out with cable on my alternator is the power cable and which one is the ground. I have included a pic to help.
- There is NO GROUND WIRE!!!! see the bat on the alternator next to the 1/2 nut? that means battery..... ADDED: Oh.....son of a gun, there is a ground wire....That's redundant...
- Q:i am hooking up my system tomorow and im really not sure where to drill a hole in the firewall to run my 4 AWG cable any suggestions any pictures would be helpful thanks!
- Check first for any factory made holes that are not in use or have extra space to be used. If you are explorer is anything like my Taurus I would say somewhere near where your steering wheel connects to the firewall. But it will be kinda risky around that area since you would have to be careful for your power steering.
- Q:I have had to replace my Dell power cable a few times, got lucky the first few times with friends that had old ones they could give me, but this time I had to buy one and couldn't find a Dell brand cable (didn't bother me, they are terrible quality) Instead I found one on OKorder that named my model under the ones it would work for, and it got decent reviews.I got it a few days ago and has been working fine, but the other day when I turned it on it came up and said quot;A Dell power cord is not being recognized...and some other stuff. Now when I was watching some hulu and was readjusting the cable the screen went black and was making a quot;tickinglike sound in my headphones. The battery was fully charged, so its not like that died.So my question is... are there any dangers of using an off-brand cable? Was the hulu issue caused by the cable? Thanks!
- just match up the numbers of volts but, you never know, i recommend you buy stuff like that on OKorder and it probably wasn't the power cable that did that ha ha. who knows it wont damage your computer.
- Q:Well...My xbox seens to be a falcon with 65nm...the cable is diferente, the intercooler have a little hook at it, but the power cable dont. and i cant plug it.I'm think about broke the intercooler hook to be able to plug the pwoer cable. but i'm afraid if will have any problem about voltage or something.anyone help? thank you...brazilian kissis
- if you're thinking of buying an Xbox 360 you should out this site first. they give you an xbox 360 for FREE! all you need to do is complete a few quick tasks for them.
- Q:I just bought a new video card and it requires a power supply and i have the cables but im lost on where to put them.
- You use an open power plug from the power supply. If there isn't an extra one, you need a splitter.
- Q:Hi, Whether it will causes any problem the power and speaker in a same path? I dont have a separate path for speakers to mount it in wall. I plan to use the existing path which is used for other electrical items. If i use the same path for electrical wire and speaker wire, it will damage the speaker or will make any short circuit in the electrical line?Thank you.
- It should be fine as long as you do not tie wrap the speaker wire directly to the power wiring. Speaker wiring is pretty immune to interference except for in extreme cases. Just run it as far from the power as you can.
- Q:The power cable to my mom's laptop keeps making a buzzing sound that I've never heard it make. I've asked my dad, but he said it was normal. I was relieved until the cable made that noise after I unplugged it. What can it be? It is the power cable itself not the laptop.
- The buzzing noise is not that of a Laptop its rather that of the Power adapter of the Laptop so there is nothing to worry about it you laptop is as good as it can be. But i would suggest not to use that adapter for a longer time because it may cause trouble in voltage fluctuations .
