- Q: I have my friends PC at my house to change a few components but apparently the PC doesn't work properly. - Besides those broken options mentioned already, many BIOS have settings to start on on power restore. This is use a lot in home servers, where if you have a power failure, you want the machine to re-boot when power comes back on. I have that set on my web server, and my Linux router box. These settings can be found in most BIOS under power, or power management. Look for some setting that asks what to do on power restore.

- The PS3 Slim's power supply is rated at 250W which works out to be just under 2.5A @ 110v. Since the PS3 only draws around 100W it should be OK. If you were using an Older PS3 then it would require more power and would not be safe with a 2.5A cable. Since a new cable wouldn't cost much you should probably invest in a better one anyway.
- Q: So I've had my laptop for about a year and a half now and I've gone through 4 power cables, 3 non-factory. - I'm afraid if its cracked where I think Its cracked you will not be able to repair it. You will have to find some way of replacing it. The signal you think is going through because enough will say I want to be turned on. Nevertheless there might be a workaround. I need you to put that cable back in and get your ps3 controller and press the PS icon. This can also turn on your PS3 remotely. If this causes it to turn on and run you can test to see if you need that cable or not by shutting down and removing it. If it works on the controller side this will have to be your power up option from here on out. By also pressing this button it will automatically detect the position so you will not need to press it second time. It won't matter thankfully if its a shock controller or a six axis... this method works for both.

- The cable seems to be rated higher than your input voltage so you should be okay.

- If you are running to small of a gauge of wire and it is causing resistance you will get better and more sound by running the appropriate wire. Going bigger than it needs doesn't make it better.

- Those devices are for supressing RF interference to external devices. The high data rates, tend to create signals just like transmitters, which can interfere, with you TV, cordless phone, stereo system, etc.
- Q: I recently got YLOD on my ps3 (60g fat) system ,sent it away ,got it back with a new mainboard ,it worked for about 2 days and it cut out (red lights blinking) once again i sent it away ,got it back and it cut out within a few hours (red lights blinking again ) ,so one last repair i sent it off to same shop ,and once again it worked for about a week then cut out on me again ! ,is there any possibility its my power cable to my ps3 thats doing this ?
- It's simple: Your PS3's hardware was too damaged for it to be repaired, or the repair shop has no idea what they are doing. Not all PS3's can be effectively repaired. And even if someone gets them working temporarily (as in your case) they can shut down again almost immediately. See if you can get a refund or at least a partial refund. You need to give up on that PS3. It's beyond repair.
