Q: How to clean a silk carpet?
When washing, use a small towel dipped in solvent, gasoline, wet, and in turn the silk carpet 2~3 times over and over again. Meanwhile, the small towel should be washed in solvent gasoline at any time.
Q: What's the difference between an area rug and an oriental rug?
an area rug is just that: ANY rug that is not laid down carpet, generally a rug that sits on top of another surface, often woods which shows around the edges. An oriental carpet is a very specific type of design. I would look at pictures as that is easier than trying to describe it. It is a type of area rug.
Q: I have a brand new rug that is less than a week old. Every time I lift it up and sweep I have piles of white fine powder. That,s at least 3 times a day. Does anyone know what this is. I 'm thinking of taking it back.
This exact same thing happened to me but it was from a rug I owned for about 7 years when the white powder began to collect under that rug. I shop at many stores, so I do not recall where I purchased the rug. So, I called a local rug store and they told me that the bottom of the rug was dry rotting and disintegrating, causing the powdery substance to shed from the bottom of the rug. If I were you, I would positively return the rug because if you are anything like me, it will drive you nuts until you finally toss the rug.
Q: I have a tan/white colored carpet..its a normal carpet, the threads are about ? inches long. One time i used a carpet cleaner (and didnt read the directions) and sprayed the carpet and left it to soak there for a few minutes...now the carpet spot is yellow...Any way to fix the unfixable?other than getting a new carpet..
If the cleaner bleached or damaged the fiber there isn't much you can do to restore the color. However, you can fix the spot where it happened if it isn't too large. Go to a closet or pantry and cut a piece out that is large enough to cover the spot. Cut out the damaged spot carefully and use that in the closet where you removed your patch. Get heavy duty two sided carpet tape at the home improvement center and put it along all of the edges and a patch in the middle. Carefully insert the patch into the hole and slide the carpet tape under the surrounding carpet. Jump on it with your full body weight to secure the patch.
Q: are there any home made recipes i can use for removing stains out of the carpet?thanks.
It will depend on what the stain is, rubbing alcohol will remove some stains, oxy clean, greased lightening, dawn dish washing soap, penetrate the stain and blot up with old towel until stain lightens this may take several applications, then use a soft bristle brush to scrub, blot up excess moisture and soap rinse well and blot... There are also stain and spot removers that can be purchased but I have found that most don't work as good as they say...all else fails rent a rug doctor!
Q: How did persian rug weaving begin ?
When did rug weaving begin? It is not known exactly when rug weaving began. In 1949, a team of Russian archaeologist, lead by S. I. Redinko were excavating in the Altai Mountain Valley of Siberia. Here, they uncovered the tomb of a Pazyryk prince who had been buried in the Fifth Century B.C.
Q: so we put the dog in a room, and you know dog scratch at the floor, well my dog scratched so much he pulled off the carpet. the carpet is still together, the padding mostly is too. Is there a solution to this?
If it isn't torn, it might be able to be restretched and reattached to the edging....lift up the perimeter of the carpet and you should see a lath strip with tacks that hold the carpet. You can probably find instructions on the web and rent the equipment......simple device. The padding might be able to be taped back together. Zip over to pet section here on Yahoo and learn how to care for the pup. You may need to crate train the dog so it won't destroy the house when you are away. And when you are home, the dog is with you.....period. He's a member of the family.
Q: best way to get red ink out of a white rug ?
Try some spray-on carpet or upholstery cleaner and leave it on, wipe it with a cotton towel or washcloth. If that does not work, try just a damp cloth with some water.
Q: ok so the other day i came home and these 2 guys were in my apartment. they claimed that i owed their boss some money, and i was very shaken up but after it was obvious I wasn't the guy they were looking for, they left- but one of them peed on my rug which was a really good rug. What should I do?
Man, I hate it when people pee in my house when they're pissed off. I'd take it to the tupee shop where you bought it and see if they can clean it for you. I don't think the guys who pee'd are going to give you any money.
