Q: I recently moved a couch and chair which was in the same position for 3 years on carpet. Any suggestions how to raise up the indent that is in the carpet. Thank you.
Depends on the type of carpet you have but there are two tricks that generally work. The 1st way is to set an ice cube(s) on the indent. Carefully work up the pile as the cube melts, A hair pick works well for doing this. The other trick ( if you have a heat set carpet fiber) is to CAREFULLY inject steam into the dent. Use an iron and do steam on the dent as you work at the fibers with a hair pick. You can also put a damp hand towel ( very warm water) on the dent along with a steam injected into the dent. Extreme care must be used doing it this way as not to melt the carpet fibers. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q: How to deal with the color of rose petals on the carpet?
You can only clean it by several times. There is no possibility to remove it one time by diluted oxalic acid. You must be careful that each time to clean it with a large amount of water, and the stain will be lighter after a time's cleaning, with a absorbent cloth to absorb water , repeat several times. One-time removal is impossible, you should ensure that the dilution will not make the carpet colors fall off
Q: My door catches on every rug i've purchased. I cannot open my front door without it dragging the rug. Anyone have any ideas where to find a very thin (yet hopefully durable) entry rug?
Try Target, Walmart, or bed, bath and beyond.
Q: Does anyone know if disposable kitchen rugs are made and sold anywhere? I would like to have a bunch of fairly good quality rugs in the closet and change then out whenever needed. Just pick u[p the dirty one and throw it away. Any ideas?
I have never seen a rug of any kind that is intended to be disposable. You can, of course, throw any rug away, if you don't mind the expense of buying new rugs all the time.
Q: Carpets were used in China in 500 BC. The earliest known carpets originated in China and Iran in the 5th century BC. In 1606, carpets woven by looms were first used near Paris, France. Today's carpets are usually woven from man-made fiber and wool.
The vivid history tells us that the carpet was originally made by the ancestors to keep out the cold. During the Qin and Han Dynasties, the nomadic people outside the Great Wall began to weave and use carpets as cold ground objects. There were carpets with fine workmanship in the Western Han Dynasty. With the elimination of the Huns by Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, the Silk Road, a trade route to West Asia and Europe, was opened. The silk road not only carries silk, carpets, porcelain, tea and spices, but also promotes the exchange and dissemination of eastern and Western cultures. The Chinese carpet weaving technology came to the Middle East and Europe along with China's Silk Road through Central Asia. At the same time, it also showed the Chinese people the Persian carpet representing the Persian civilization. In Persian carpet patterns, there are still many patterns exactly the same as Chinese carpet patterns. Others believe that the pattern of Persian carpet comes from China, but it has been carefully modified and added Persian color in the hands of Persian designers, so as to become a pattern with Middle East style. Since the Western Han Dynasty, the two ancient civilizations have been learning from each other, exchanging and drawing lessons from each other. Traditional Chinese patterns, traditional Persian patterns and weaving techniques have been integrated with each other for a long time, thus achieving an elegant and delicate carpet art.
Q: I accidentally dropped my red nail polish on to my carpet... i tried using windex - it faded it a little bit- but i can still see it! anything else i can try? and i am going to have a carpet cleaner person come and clean my carpets so will they be able to get it all out? and could there be a reaction from mixing the windex with the carpet cleaner? PLEASE HELP!
Nail polish remover. You have to use a lot until the polish is gone. Like a whole bottle
Q: Just bought new carpet tiles and my husband wants a little more cushion and wants to try out putting a carpet pad under the tiles. Is the possible?
When you step on carpet/pad the backing/underlayment flexes. That stretching/flex is what causes carpet to wrinkle. If you wanted comfort, you shouldn't have bought carpet tiles :p Those are for commercial buildings. Not to mention berber is the least comfortable carpet on the market.
Q: I have a dark beige livingroom carpet and bought a dark brown (almost black) bamboo rug . Will it look right ?
yes i think Bamboo rugs are great
Q: my carpet shampoor does not suck the water back up.help plz
its usually blocked at the end that goes onto the carpet try cleaning that one part of the head put down the water (usually the front portion) while the back part lifts it up after a few uses the rear portion can block
Q: I am looking for a reasonably priced Persian rug. I have searched on craigslist but can't find anything. I am located in the Bay Area, and would like to know if anyone knows a cool place to find new or used Persian rugs?
