Q: do in ceiling speakers work well for a rear surround channel
Yes and no. I have heard in ceiling speakers used for rear channel in several displays and homes. It sounds fine until you have some effect that is clearly supposed to be coming from ground level. There is a scene in Gladiator in which an army on horseback comes from the rear channel to the front. With in ceiling rears it sounds like the horses are coming down out of the sky. That said, some people's rooms are such that only in ceiling speakers are really practical for their surround sound set up. In such a case I would not hesitate to go with the in ceiling speakers.
Q: What is the icon of the loudspeaker?
Video ... there is no question mark, if there is a look at the property to know that there is a problem driving, or sound card problems
Q: I have been looking for speakers for my truck and I was at walmart and meijer last night and determined that I would probably get the speakers from walmart because they have a larger selsction. But my question is, when the speaker box says Power Handling Peak 300 Watts what does that mean? Also what is a 3-way speaker, could you just tell me what those are and then list off other good thing to consider when looking for the right speaker set? I am just looking for a set of 2 speakers I believe they are 6X9 I have to make sure though, and I have a 4X45 watt stereo in the truck so if I get a 70 watt speaker I could get a more powerful stereo, right? Just please tell me that basics. Thanks for you time! Please no stupid answers.
Peak is exactly that - the speakers can handle brief spikes of that power but are not rated to handle it continually. Good rule of thumb - get speakers rated at TWICE the output of your stereo - so for your 4x45, get 4 100W speakers - make sure the speakers and stereo are using the same rating system, as there are around 3 ways to measure power output in stereo systems.
Q: I have a computer speakers with a subwoofer but for some reason my left speaker wont work the subwoofer works great ans so does my other speaker but not my left one then I put on my other pair of speakers which both work. And again no sound came from the left speaker. By the way the speakers are connected to the subwoofer. Is my subwoofer the problem how can I fix it
I dont know the answer to this one but i wish i did so i could help out. I try to help out as much as i can on yahoo answers. But i do hope you find your answer though! :)
Q: I have my main 3 already. Do surrounds even produce bass or are my Bose cube speakers good enough?
In a 5.1 system surrounds can defiintely produce bass output but for good bass you need a subwoofer so the size of the speakers matters less. The big impact with smaller speakers is that they have such a high crossover frequency it can be hard to match them to the subwoofer. I prefer mid-size bookshelf speakers personally that can go down to 80hz or less which allows the crossover to be 80 to 100 hz. If you are putting together a system you should match the surrounds with the brand and driver type of your front speakers. Systems with the same basic sound match up much better to create a more seamless and believable sound field.
Q: I want to use the computer speakers ( its an HP ) and i want to get rid of my speakers so i can use my computer.
if you want to change the default speakers you first have to make sure that they are plugged into the speaker port in the (normally) back of the computer. unplugging the old ones and plugging in the other set is all that you should need to do. Now if they are internal speakers then you would have to go into control panel sound and audio devices then change the default to the internal speakers. If you can elaborate on what kind of computer it is more help can be given.
Q: I have a Sony Sava 500 surround sound and i would like to add wireless speakers to it.What wireless speakers will work with this system?
I would agree with the other answer. Wireless speakers don't sound very good.
Q: I'm a guy whose just started DJ-ing. I operate using 2 Gemsound powered speakers. Recently, my one speaker has been playing at half the volume as my other speaker, but fixes itself in a few minutes. Is this not a big deal or could this potentially develop into something serious? Where is a good place for speaker repairs?
Joe - Check your cables firstmaybe swap the right cable for the left? If the same speaker is still low then the problem is with the speaker. Make sure it is not a problem with your mixer too. Make sure your left and right outputs on the mixer are at the same volume. If the settings are the same on both speakers and the volume is still low, you really need to get it serviced - the problem probably will not go away and it may get worse.
Q: I just want to get some new speakers for my 2003 Nissan Sentra. Doesn't need to be anything ridiculously fancy, but I'd like them to be good solid speakers, US made and manufactured.
Their are some high end car audio brands that still build subwoofers in the u.s. but I do not know of any full range speakers that are made here. For high end car speakers look for speakers made in Germany or France. edit; gravity, polk audio makes decent speakers. but they have not been made in the u.s. since around 2004. they are made in china now.
Q: Can you use a guitar amp to power a passive speaker? If not can you recommend a cheap amp :)Thanks
