- Q: I have a sony system and it has 2 speakers and 1 subwoofer. The sony mini hi-fi system has the speaker ports for the sub and the 2 speakers. I also have another 2 speakers I want to hook up to the system. Is there a way I can wire this or buy something cheap to split the connections in my receiver so I can have all 4 speakers and the sub work at the same time on 1 receiver. Please Help!!!
- You can wire the speakers in parallel or series, depending on the amplifier and the speaker impedances. If the amplifier can drive a 4 ohm speaker on each channel, and you want to put two 8 ohm speakers on it, just connect them in parallel - that will approximate a 4 ohm speaker (be sure and connect the + to the + and the - to the - ). If the amplifier is rated to drive only 8 ohms, then you can either wire 8 ohm speakers in series, thereby approximating a 16 ohm speaker. This will minimize an over-current situation, but will result in a small, inconsequential mis-match which causes a small amount of power to be lost (it won't be noticeable w/o a sound meter). If the speakers are 4 ohms then wire them in series as well to produce an equivalent of 8 ohm impedance.

- Q: I got an akai as-980 quadraphonic reciever. It works but I know nothing about the speaker system. They have to have 4 wires I'd guess because there are 6 speaker inputs with 4 plugs for each speaker. What are they called and are these speakers hard to find? Cam anyone shed some light on this? - hi matt hippie.the akai as-980 is a four channel stereo tuner/amplifier the four speaker plug/connectors are for connecting your speakers in a way what they called matrix four channel stereo.and the two speaker plug/connectors are for a two channel stereo connectionso you can run these speakers either way as i've just explained.hope this helps you out in some way matt and merry xmas!

- NO you cannot listen to music from the mobo speakers. Just buy a set of speakers for $15 and call it good. The old games also have the OLDER motherboards that support multi beep tones. Now a days the mobos only come with single tone and single sound beeps.

- first, what are you playing these speaker with?a computer?amplifier?and are these speakers in individual box?what ohms are these speakers?More info. I know speakers have different ohms independence,and when you hook them up in series it increases the ohms .If you hook them up in parallel you decrease the speaker ohms.This might be your problem since you have to match the speaker ohms equal or more to the device that you are using to play the speakers.
- Q: I just bought 4- 5.25 pioneer speakers and i want to get a 12 kicker sub, i was wondering what kind of amp i should buy to power my speakers and a 12 kicker sub, or should i just let my aftermarket head unit power my speakers and get a small amp to power the sub?
- It depends what watts your speakers can handle. Usually there around 30-70 watts all depends on the speaker. All head units give off about 20-25 watts. If you want your speakers to sound better but a 2 channel amp. A sub just match the watts of sub with watts of amp. Get a mono amp to run the sub. I recomend the sub Alpine Type R there really really good. I have one and LOVE IT!

- That speaker is probably blown. If its a new speaker then its defective. When u touch the naked wires together and the other speakers shut off that's normal. That tells me that the speaker is getting power. So It can only be the speaker that is the problem.
- Q: I have a 2001 Chevy Camaro V6 with stock 6 speakers. All of them don't work except for the front left driver speaker. The hatch speakers are completely out and the sail speakers have a really really low volume. I tried replacing the stock sail speakers with new Pioneer speakers but they're still just playing at a really low volume with like no treble. Any ideas? Could it be a wiring problem?
- yes its all aftermarket or all factory you can't miss match the equipment.you must have a factory amp some were and this is your problem start from scratch with a good aftermarket stereo and 4 good aftermarket speakers and use the internal amplifier in your new stereo to power the speakers by passing any factory equipment. you can use the same power supply under the dash to the stereo but run your own speaker wire from the rear of the stereo to each speaker.this will give you some good clean sound.if you plan on adding your own external amps later make sure your new stereo is set up with all the plug ins needed to run an external amp for speakers and sub outs for running an external amp for your sub or subs,this can be added at a later date but at least you will have the right stereo in place to do the job.
