- Q: I have a dodge 2000 intrepid w/ infinity sound system it uses a spatial imaging audio system, the right door speaker is broken, and the system only uses that speaker for bass. Should I order the $174 replacement speaker from dodge (part number 04760374AB) or is there another 6.5 inch midrange speaker I should get for 174 dollars or under that is better which is only going to be used for bass.
- I would write to Infiniti and see if they have an aftermarket product that might be cheaper. Or talk to the guys at Crutchfield -- call them on the phone the old fashioned way and just get their opinion. You might do better to replace the pair instead of just one and spend less money.

- Q: I just brought a new car and the speakers in the back make a really loud vibrating sound when its turned up, i was just wondering if it would be because the owner before me could have blown the speakers or is it normal for speakers to vibrate that loudly. - If you hear vibrating, then the speakers aren't screwed down very tight, and all you would need to do is screw them down tighter. if you hear more of a popping sound, then the speakers are blown and need to be replaced. If you replace your speakers, then look for speakers that fit, and try to find get ones with the highest sensitivity rating.

- For one, speaker sound is subjective. I may love them and you may hate them and vice versa, but quality wise, even JL's lowest quality speakers are good. I think it would be hard to be disappointed with any JL speaker or sub. There may be something that performs comparably for less money, but JL's are good.

- I own a shop, and a Blazer. When I upgraded my speakers, I realized a problem. The front speakers are 10 ohm, and the rear were 8 ohm speakers. A 10 ohm speaker is almost impossible to find, and if you put any other in there, they will sound worse than the original ones. Unless you are going to change the sound system too, then the best I was able to come up with, (that would match the ohms rating) was leave the front ones in there, and add two good 6x9, 2 way speakers in the rear. Use 8 ohm in the rear, and go with at least one that will handle 100 watt or better. The real trouble is with the way the front speakers are made. I went to Crutchfield, but when I was finished I had found that 10 ohm speakers in that shape that would fit the front were not available. It is important to keep the ohms thing like it should be. The lower the ohms on a speaker means the more the power it can handle. Crutchfield only has 4 8 ohm speakers that will work for the front, so unless you are going to change the whole system, leave the front alone, and get some good 6x9, 8 ohm, 2 way, 100+ amp speakers for the back. Go to Wal-Mart and listen to some good 6x9's and you can decide which ones fit your budget, and which sound the best for the price. Glad to help you, Good luck!!!

Is there any simple method to determining this? Like matching watts and ohms? Please, if possible, just a simple way to determine if the speakers are compatible with receivers.
- Pretty much any standard 4 to 8 ohm speaker will work with any home theater receiver. It is a good idea to test the speakers there at the store if you can. Maybe bring along a short piece of speaker wire already stripped for testing each speaker and each speaker output on the receiver. Blown speakers will not work at all or they may just sound raspy. Don't worry about the watts too much. As long as it is a name brand speaker, it will work fine as long as you are not blasting the receiver at full volume.
