Q: Iam supposed to do costing for a modification that we are doing for a hand held vacuum cleaner, the modification is an retractable arm.I want to know how are hand held vacuum cleaners manufactured, (forging, extrusion, injection molding??) What would be the cost??Any help thanks: Look at the hand held vacuums they have in the store. If the housing is plastic, it is a 99.99% chance it is injection molded. If it is made of metal it could be extruded if it has a constant cross section along its length. Aluminum is a very common extrusion metal. I would doubt any high volume hand vac would have a forged housing, but I don't get out that much. Casting and machining is a possibility. As far as costs, it all depends on the life of the tool, and the number of cavities for a mold or a casting. If you mold/cast one part at a time it is much more expensive than two or four or eight. The more you mold at once, the bigger the molding/casting machine and the more expensive the mold/casting. So it depends on how many you want to make in a given amount of time, and how many through the life of the product. Finally, for your modification, do you have a design with drawings and a volume target? That is the first step to figuring out costs.

Q: Does anyone have one of those quot;stickvacuum cleaners? I am looking to buy a good suction stick vacuum cleaner to do my hardwoods every day. I have a Dyson DC40 but am returning it because I do not like it. I am looking for something to do my hardwoods every day, that's not too large or heavy and I think I'd like to stay away from the cordless. I have basically crumbs and dust to pick up in the kitchen/breakfast/dining room areas. We have no pets.Can anyone recommend something? Or tell me what NOT to buy?: Funny you should post this question...I have been researching the lightweight vacuums...have seen what others own (didn't like...too noisy, etc)....and decided on sticking with BISSELL products as I love their line. I ordered a Bissell PowerForce Compact (in fuschia color, also comes in lime and plum) for $34.87 from Walmart online....was only 97 cents to ship it to my door! I absolutely LOVE it...it only weighs 11 lbs (which is less than each of my 2 cats!) and has a smaller path than a larger, bulkier vacuum. It comes with a crevice tool and a brush. It's cyclonic and easy to clean. Filter is washable. A drawback (if you think it is) is that the cord is not as long as larger vacuums...but the machine has GREAT suction power and goes from carpet to floor with no knobs to adjust. In fact, they have outstanding customer service: it happened that my machine was missing its brush, but when I called Bissell, they quickly are sending one out (no cost of course). If you want to see it...go to walmart and search for Bissell Power Force Compact. And it's not overly noisy either! My neighbor has a Dirt Devil and that thing is horrible!! Sounds like a jet engine and drowns out everything and doesn't come with tools. I put it to the test and it maneuvers nicely...and all the cat hair banished....so very pleased with it. Another alternative for you would be to check out the vacuum/steam mop for floors that Bissell has (but that's a lot more money)...but again, it all depends on what you want the vacuum to do. All in all.....stick with Bissell...my family and friends all have good luck with their product line.

Q: Are there any quiet, but effective vacuums cleaners on the market. What brands?: Get a Roomba robotic floor cleaner. I love mine. It does a great job and really isnt that noisey. Oh, I did I say it does it all by its self.

This is usually constant for all electrical appliances in a country. In vaccum cleaners, the usual rating for how powerful the appliance is it POWER. The unit for this is Watts (W). 1800W is quite powerful. 1000W is quite weak. If they only give Voltage (Volts) and current (Amps), simply multiply the two to get the power. Power = Volts x Current.

Q: Hi im going to purchase a steam cleaner to wash my carpet but i also have a vacuum that i use to take off the dirt off my carpet but it really needs a wash thats why i want to buy a steam cleaner. does the steam cleaner also replace a vacuum by sucking dirt up or is it only for washing the carpets? cuz i dont want to buy that on top of buying another newer vacuum: Yeah i am a foremost expert on carpet cleaning,believe me it is way better than a vaccum.It sucks the dirt as well clean your carpet.I use The RugDoctor myself when i`m slaving around the house.Well good luck with that!
