Q: Hi All,Could you recommend some vacuums cleaners which are best for hardwood and tile floors? The one I have now picks up the big stuff ok but leaves behind some pet hair and the smaller dirt/dust particles. I usually have to follow up my vacuuming with the Swiffer. Thanks for your suggestions!: A canister style vac is better as opposed to one of the upright vacs. Why? Because with a canister vac, the hose attachment has special attachments made espcially for hard floors. It is easy to manuever the long arm of the hose around too, where as an upright is large and bulky and won't go into tight corners. I have had a Sears cannister style vac for years with my hard floors and I love it. there is no susbstitute. There is a carpet attachment too, which makes it the most versatile vaccum out there.

Q: I have a Eureka canister, model 1620 B. I am trying to find HEPA bags for the canister. Eureka no longer makes quot;type Squot;, but I have found Hoover quot;type SHEPA bags and am wondering if they are compatible.: Eureka Vacuum Bags

Q: I am looking to buy a vacuum cleaner, but I want a small and light one. However, I saw that it doesn't have a bag in it, and the other one has a bag but it look kinda big. Can someone please advise me any vacuum that is light, less dirty (maybe by using the bag), and cheap?: lots of cheap out there, but not well made. I am willing to spend up to $300.: Dyson has a model that is great for pet hair, I think it says something about pets in the model name. About any vacuum will work well if you change the bag frequently, and vacuum really often--like daily. Good Luck!

Q: I saw a wide range of prices for vacuum cleaners...I just need a decent one, how much should that cost?: You can get a very good vacuum cleaner for about one hundred thirty dollars this would be a Panasonic Upright vacuum cleaner, it is lightweight easy to maneuver powerful suction twelve amp motor and last long best yet reliable, you can get a cheaper price than quoted if you go to vacuum stores and beat their price down by acting as if you are interested in several brands then ask to try one out ask for price of demonstrator and if it sounds too much money then say I am going to check out another dealer and start to walk out door the salesperson will not want you to leave and will make you a better deal Good Luck !

Q: I've tried Bissell, and nothing works like my 14 yr old Dirt Devil. I cannot get filters for that anymore tho......I want something that doesn't kick sand up on my feet, I NEED SUCTION. Any ideas would be appreciated.: marydass...You know, I hate to say this, but have you tried that Swiffer? It doesn't kick out any dust, stuff sticks to the cloth and you shake it out til the job is done or the Swiffer gives up! They are inexpensive considering how long a cloth lasts, and you don't need to haul a vac out when it's time for a cleaning. Good luck - LT

Q: Why are cats afraid of vacuum cleaners?: I think it's the noise, yes, but it's also the fact that the noise is so sudden, from complete silence or whatever's going on in the room previously. If a cat is motionless and all of a sudden, something is pushed towards her and she has less of a comfort zone, that may also scare her. One of my previous cats used to puff up her tail, curl her tongue and hiss at the vacuum until it was about 6 inches away from her. Then she'd run and hide until the noise stopped and the monster was put back in the closet. If the monster stayed out in the open, she would attack it with her paw when it was shut off!
