- Q: The wheel stud of rear tire of my Pontiac Sunfire 1995 broke. The wheel has 5 wheel stud and the tire is being hold with the other 4 wheel stud.I was wondering if it is ok to drive the car with 4 wheel stud?If I should change it, what else can I change since that part is being opened? Please feel free to provide feed back and suggestions in this regards. Thanks,Amr
- It can be driven with 4 wheel studs but I would suggested very short distances. The stud Replacement shouldn't be that bad and it is a press fit so you may be able to do some of the work yourself if you know someone with a press. If you don't, the cost shouldn't be that bad. I do like your thinking about what to look at while having your wheel apart. The only major things you might consider is brakes or wheel bearings. breaks have to be done a s a set, and while wheel bearings don't, I high recommend they be done as a set.
- Q: Hi,I was wondering why, for example, bike wheels all have (more or less) the same radius. Is it the result of optimizing the laws of physics? I know, for example, that larger wheels cause lower rolling resistance, which is energetically profitable. But would even larger wheels be even more profitable, or is there a limit? And why are car or train wheels smaller?Kind regards, and please support your answer with references to laws of physics.Bib-lost
- The short answer is yes, wheel size is based on optimizing the traits desired. The reason different things have different wheels is that there are multiple factors to consider, including (but not limited to): rolling resistance, traction, cost, weight, size (there can be limitations on size imposed by various factors), material strength, etc. How a wheel is designed depends on its application. To give you an example: Compare train wheels with bike wheels. Bike wheels need to be light weight and have good traction. For train wheels, they need to be extremely durable and have low rolling resistance. Based on these requirements, bike wheels use minimal materials and rubber tires, while train wheels are robust metal and no rubber.
- Q: Factory installed Alloy Wheels on a 2010 Ford Fusion SEL (with 10 spokes). Info on best type of brushes/clothes etc. would also help. Thanks!
- Whatever size pipe it is just buy a cap for it and sweat solder it on the pipe end.
- Q: What is a wheel drive?
- Is the engine driven gear driven wheel rolling.
- Q: in search of a 24" mountian bike wheel ,24"x1.50 front..
- There are dmr revolver wheels on dreamcycles .uk for ?100 or just the front wheel for ?55 they come in 24" as you require, i don't know if they are 1.50s but if you can stretch your budget to ?80 then you can get a halo SAS front wheel. If you are not however planning on extreme riding then my advice is to go to your local halfords and they will have some cheap wheels knocking about!
- Q: http://www.pets-warehouse /pic-s/SSR61396.JPGSafe? It has a tic-tac-to sort of wheel pattern. Mesh. Thanks!
- most okorder /product/index.js... (the bigger version it comes in GIANT haha) it's a solid plastice with gripps that stick out a bit for them to get traction... way safer. you can getSilent" ones as well that have ball bearings inside to make the quiter at night =)
- Q: hi every body<i want to know about a train wheel and how the flange of the wheel holds the train in the track and avoids derailment?
- Interesting questioin. The flanged wheel has been called one of the greatest inventions of mankind. As stated above the flanges are on the inside of each wheel and rub against a wear surface of the rail. In other words, each wheel is responsible for one half of the forces required for keeping the train on track. The width (guage) of the rail is absolutely critical in keeping things operating. Amazing system when you consider it, the flange is not much higher than the width of your thumb, the actual contact patch of a wheel on rail is about the size of a dime. That gives you a bit of an idea why trains are so much more efficient than any other type of land based transportation.
- Q: ok, my friend has a ripstick kind of thing but instead of one wheel on either side, there r 2 wheels in a row on each side!?????Can u help me? wat is it?
- Been running CT on my bike for years, never a problem. Will never go back to MT
- Q: I‘m building a tricycle that will have rear-wheel traction, fed to the wheels via an axle.Planning to remove the bearing parts, yet the wheel axle will still be smooth on the inside. How do I get the axle to bite in order for the wheels to rotate with no loss of energy? Thanks
- there are loads. i just got one from EMERY surfboards, depends where you are from/ im from lennox, near byron bay. around there is Free flight, local motion and loads more. just ask local surfers they'll know
- Q: The way I understand it, backspacing will effect how far out/in you wheels are when on the car. So if I decrease my backspacing, my wheels will stick out farther? If so is this safe to do? I just want the wheels flush with the body of the car.
- Back spacing, as I have it, is the distance between the hub of the rim and the backside of the fenderwell. If you change the backset of the rim, it will be farther out against the fender or more toward the inner fenderwell. I think if you decrease your backspacing, it will cause you wheel to stick out farther against the fender. The best way to check this is to consult your local speed shop and they will confirm your problem. Hope this helps a little.
