- Q: I need to have the wheels aligned in my 86 Bronco II. The car consistently pulls to the right. Its more annoying than dangerous. I've heard from numerous places that it would cost around $80 for a general alignment for 4 wheels, but that was for newer cars. What will the cost be for mine?
- Well, the alignment will be about that, but your drag link is probably shot. You may need new joints in it or the bar replaced completely. That will be added cost. It cannot be aligned if the drag link is bad. If the alignment is really off, shaking is usually the result, not an insistent pulling. That would indicate other problems, such as the drag link.
- Q: If i were to buy rims and wheels for a 1995 lexus sc400 (RWD) and wanted to switch the rims and wheels onto a FWD car, could i? the wheels are offset (rear ones are wider), so could i just switch the rear wheels with the front wheels when i put thm on the fwd car? BTW, i already know the wheels and rims fit both cars, just wondering about the opposite (front-back) wheel sizes. Thanks
- If you put wider wheel, thus wider tires on the rear wheels of a FWD, you are going to get more understeer than usual. If you look at people who race FWD in road courses, they put wider wheels and tires in front to reduce understeer. Understeer is not fun. The front of car will slide whenever you throw your car into a corner. And you need to reduce speed or adjust you steering to correct this. This is something that most race car drivers want to eliminate, but car manufacturer set up a little understeer for saftety reason to warn drivers that the car is at its cornering limit. So larger wheels and tires in rear of a FWD is not a very good idea.
- Q: what were the first cars wheels made of; why were they so skinny (like on steam cars). where they just iron or wood? perhaps they were solid rubber.
- The very earliest cars were little more than carts with engines. They were made by coach builders and the wheels were wooden, originally with iron tyres - which literally 'tied' the wooden spokes together - hence the name. Many early cars were also built with wire wheels, which resembled bicycle wheels. Wooden wheels often had solid rubber tyres - these were quite thin. Although pneumatic tyres were invented as early as 1888 by John Dunlop they were used for bicycles, and few early cars with bicycle-like wire wheels. Michelin experimented unsuccessfully with pneumatic tyres on an automobile in 1895, but it wasn't until 1911 that reliable tyres with inner tubes were developed. Wooden wheels with solid rubber tyres were still used on trucks and buses into the 1920s, and many cars had wooden wheels until around 1926, when welded steel and wire wheels came into vogue.
- Q: what force feedback on pc steering wheels mean
- Live for Speed - Racing Sim Need for Speed Most Wanted - Arcade racing
- Q: I just got a new skateboard that came complete with everything (trucks, bearings, wheels, etc.). Everything is of pretty good quality with the exception of the wheels. So my question is: do the wheels make much of a difference when riding or doing a trick?
- honestly. its your wheels and bearing that are the most important(aside from trucks,). mainly affecting speed. and i guess landing the tricks when moving would be affected to. tho acually doing the tricks wouldnt change much that'd be your deck and kind of griptape
- Q: I bought a KIA Sorento with AWD. I read the owners manual and my understanding is that it is 2 wheel drive but kicks into 4 wheel drive only when it detects slippage. Is this correct?
- All wheel drive has a transfer case that splits power to the wheels as needed depending on what the computer sensors detect. For the most part it works fine as long as its working right. The technology for this type of transfer case is very expensive and if you ever have a problem with it it gets expensve in a hurry. Some auto makers have better products than others so it pays to pay attention and not buy one that does not perform well. A malfunctioning system can ruin a set of tires in 10,000 miles so if your traction control ever needs attention take it in and have it checked.
- Q: Why the car wheel in the TV looks to turn against the turn
- Fast, windy, and dusty, so it looks anti
- Q: Like the honda on the movie baby boy the wheels stick out on the side
- Install a set of wheels with a different offset. Offset is the distance from where the wheel mounts to the hub to the center of the wheel, so you can move wheels in or out by buying wheels with a different offset number. And keep in mind that trying to get this look by changing wheels will be murder on your wheel bearings and can have annoying effects on the handling. The suspension is not designed for moving the wheels outward four inches. I've heard accounts of people who had to replace their wheel bearings every two or three months. If you wanted to move the wheels out with no bad effects on your suspension's reliability or handing, you would pretty much need to give the suspension a complete redesign.
- Q: Give you four words, can you write a wonderful story? Flower pots, screens, wheels, rings
- The wheel pressed the hand with the ring, but we could only see the square filled with pots on the screen.
- Q: If I replace the rear wheel, do I need to by a wheel specific for the rear of the bike? or are wheels generic and can be placed at either the front or rear of the bike?
- The front and rear wheels are not interchangeable. You cannot modify a front wheel to become a back wheel. Most bikes cannot swap 27 and 700C wheels due to the brake reach. Most modern wheels have 7speed (126mm) or 8/9/10 speed (130mm) widths for the rear hub. This means that (1) you'll have to have the frame modified to accept the wider wheel, and (2) you'll have to modify your drivetrain to use the aditional gearing. I suggest finding a used bike at a yard sale or flea market with the same sized wheels as your current bike and swapping the wheels. You should be able to find one for under $20.
