- Q: A friend of mine has an american keyboard and they cant get the @ on their keyboard.any ideas and does the american layout in regional settings have to be deleted.
- It's the @ key or the 2 key in caps. My first guess would be they have the wrong regional settings, most likely the United Kingdom.It needs to be United States.

The problem: When i type w it becomes we and when i type e it also becomes we. The same happens with these words: 2 or 3 - 23s or d - sdx or c - xcSo basically its a line in keyboard that got malfunction.I tried everything i could like scanning for virus, spyware, uninstalling the keyboard and reinstalling it again. - uninstalling keyboard? Are you using external keyboard for your laptop? Anyway, you may use system restore to restore to earlier point before this situation happened. Go to start program accessories system tools system restore choose earlier point before this madness happened

- LOL, HUGE keyboard Thats pretty funny. I work in China (3 months out of the year) They have normal keyboards, sometimes a couple extra buttons but no more than a gaming or multimedia keyboard. The China specific software allows them to hit a letter or two that corollates to the radical for the symbol they want to get and then it pulls a little drop down menu of charecters out. This coupled with predictive typing actually makes it pretty efficient. Not for me though because I have to keep hitting some key combi that I always forget when Ive been home too long to toggle it back off before I can type English.

- On a Japanese keyboard you usually can type an underscore by hitting the backslash key close to the bottom-right corner of the keyboard while holding down the Shift key. How this helps.
- Q: i reformat my computer, use it for a day. i was watching a video, and notice that the keyboard stopped working, i tried numerous keyboards ps2 and usb, but nothing works. with ps2 and usb, i can use both untill i see windows when the computer turns on. but only with ps2, the following happens: whenever i press a key on the keyboard, i hear a bleep sound coming from the motherboard. i do have all of the drivers installed. any help? (and i reformatted using windows xp)
- remove all the keyboards and reboot the system--you will probably have to use the mouse only at this point. Before you restart the system, remove the USB keyboard so the system doesn't see it and forces it to load the other drivers. An afterthought isdid you go into the Device Manager and see the built in keyboard listed? If notdid you seen any large yellow exclamation points showing up for unidentifiable devices? If so, one of those is probably your keyboard and the drivers didn't take. Try reinstalling the keyboard drivers again. But try the restart after removing the keyboards from Device Manager and see what happens first. Then try reloading the drivers if you still don't see it.
- Q: I opened my keyboard to clean it. It's an old keyboard. Anyway there was a black cord inside next separated from the circuit cord where the colored cords are connected. When I opened the keyboard it was on top the circuit board. Now I'm not sure where it goes and my keyboard isn't working. Microsoft Coperation model K290. It's an old keyboard

- Alex, if the laptop is still in warranty, then take it to a local gateway store and have them do the repair. It really doesn't take much time to change out the key board. Ask an see how long they will take to do the repair, so you won't be wondering when there going be done with it.

- Depends what you want it for and how much you want to spend. If you want something which has GOOD sounds but not very many then you'd be better off getting a stage piano. If you want hundreds of sounds, synths, effects etc then you'd be better off getting a synthesizer. If you want a very good organ sound then you'd be better off getting something like a nord stage organ. Do some research - look on the websites for yamaha, roland, nord and possibly moog see what you fancy. In my opion you should steer clear of korgs - I can't stand them. In addition you may need to think about whether you need 2 keyboards - I have a roland 300SX for good piano sounds and a roland fantom XA for synths etc.
