- Q: Hi there,My apartment is getting so cold. Since I can feel the cold air coming in through the windows I decided to buy a plastic kit that may help me on this situation. When I read on the back it says that it can not be done on drywall (there are not frames around the windows just the draywall). Any suggestions? I would really appreciate it.
- Cut your plastic to fit inside the opeing and use Blue masking tape to adhere to window. Taping to the drywall will cause bigger problems when removing.
- Q: Jeep Wrangler rear plastic windows?
- And the question is?
- Q: Looking for an actual number, not a quot;go call the builderquot; response. I already did that. Still looking for an actual savings amount though. Anybody do this and can give an example of energy savings?
- at least 5%
- Q: I have a 4quot; tear in the plastic drivers side window. Are there any adhesives or techniques to fix it?
- I repaired mine with clear packing tape, then took a hair dryer to it, just Long enough to warm it pretty good and got as many air bubbles out as possible- it lasted a full year and didn't block my view (for shapes and light, not 100%) then finally replaced it. By the way, my tear was all the way from top to bottom!
- Q: I am talking about the stuff you tape to the inside of your home windows and use a hair dryer to stretch it tight. It is supposed to keep single pane windows better at keeping in the heat. I live where it gets 30 degrees at night and 40-50 during the day in winter. Does anyone have experience with these products? Which type works best? Mainly, does it really keep heat in? OR does it keep sunlight heat out and balance out to zero help?
- Yes it works well and is easy to install.I warn you now though to not leave it there during the summer, but if you do you must vent it at the top by pulling the plastic back an inch or two to let the heat out or it will totally destroy your air tight seal. And most likely the heat will do it anyway even if you do vent it.
- Q: Should I insulate just my single pane windows or my new windows as well? Also should I put the plastic on the inside, outside or both? Thanks.
- Not outside at all Use the wrap on all windows double panes too cuz it all helps here's how tape the double side tape to the moulding of the window not the window itself or wall because the more air space the better here place wrap on the tape secure so no gaps or airspace use hair dryer to shrink use good stuff foam (have nail polish remover and latex gloves) on half inch or bigger gaps around the house and caulk the rest
- Q: Can anyone help with a cleaning agent that i could use on the windows to bring them up good, and what should i use on the outside to clean it also
- My guess would be vinegar and water. No glass cleaner.
- Q: Do they still make them. Like the ones we used to have in the 70's and 80's. Or is it an outdated concept? If yes, where can I find them or how can I make one? The pole has to be about 8 feet long. thanks! : )
- Do you mean like the ones where you pull them down and they unroll, and then to open them back up you pull down slightly and push them back up? I have those and I got them at the Home Depot. You can special order them in whatever size you want. And, they're fairly inexpensive. I have them on two picture windows with a southwest exposure, one about 6 feet long and the other about 7 feet long. I also have 2-inch horizontal mini blinds on those windows. But, the blinds are so long and heavy that they don't completely close all the way. So, I had to install the roll-up blinds behind them. And, they work great.
- Q: Would a Jeep Wrangler with glass windows be any less noisy than a model with plastic windows?
- mmmm....lets see. Is a hard surface denser than a sort surface? well,,,,,Since sound has a harder time passing thru a dense surface thus REFLECTING off of it.... I'm gonna say go with the hard surface;)
- Q: I have a plastic windshield that I want to tint, but have run into some problems. I tried getting a tint shop to place a film over it, but the surface was too curved. Is there another method that I can try? Is there any kind of spray or dye? Also, I would like mirror tint. Is that possible? The plastic can flex a little, so it has to be able to withstand that.I don't have to worry about whether or not the tint complies with the law. So, there are no restrictions.
- I just would check with a different tint shop. I ran into that issue with my rear window on my car. A few different shops said they couldn't do it because of the size and how curved it was. Bottomline they just didn't want to go through the hassle. I found a shop that was willing and it turned out great. As for the spray tint VHT does make a product called night shades. I've seen it used with mixed results. On something small like taillights it good. But for a a large window you might have issues with consistent coverage. The tint might look blotchy when your done. Once again I would just look at finding a different place to do the tinting for you.
