Q: is there any way to clean the faded plastic door windows on my canvas doors? we really cant afford new doors right now at 400 a whack, there faded by the sun bad.thanks
there is a product you can buy , i'm sorry i dont remember the name of it but if there is a pep boys store near you they sell it . it would be with the waxes
Q: Can YOUHOOS at Yahoos give me an idea where I can find a sheetof heavy clear/ or even transparent plastic to put over my window thatnot like this cheap garbage I used from Frost King at home depot.. The last stuff came from a roll and was heavy duty and I don't need a roll of it, I'm just drawing a blank here. And this boxed up stuff sold in cheap discount stores really is garbage 1 mil junk.. Oh, and yes, this is their outdoor stuff , not the shrink indoor kit.... The window is about 4 ft x 6 ft..... 1950 era.....(hence the need for plastic ). I've got a few smaller as well... Thank You hoos....
Try Ace Hardware. They use to sell clear heavy vinyl plastic on a roll that they would cut to the amount you need. Hope this helps.
Q: I have a '97 Wrangler w/ soft top, the windows are scratched from tree limbs and I would like to take them out. Any suggestions, or tips?
if you have an aeroport close ,they have stuff they sell .when the hellicopter pilot arrives here he uses it on the windows,,they sell it for planes/helicopters,,cleans and removes scratches..sorry cant remember the name..
Q: I need to put plastic on my windows for the winter. It never looks right, and they always pop off during stormy cold winter weather. Any advice?
the shrink plastic works well, but you need super clean, smooth and grease free woodwork to adhere the double sided tape. it does not stick well to bare wood, so you might first have to paint a line of varnish or poly where the tape will go (and let it dry, of course). My 20's bungalow has Original windows, and until I can get some outside storms made, I'm using the shrink wrap. You're only trying to trap a layer of still air between the the outside glass and the room. Caulking around all the window and floor wood work will go a long way to improve the Comfort level of rooms, too.
Q: I accidently put window paint on the back window of my friend's convertible. Now he says its stained, I really need to get it off. Any ideas?!
maybe bleach
Q: I just bought a quot;shrink window plastic insulation kitquot; from Home Depot to prevent cold air from entering through the windows. The plastic comes wrapped and it's taking forever to unwrap the plastic pieces that are stuck together. Please help!!!!
Sorry, no quick fix. Kind of like using cheap cling-wrap in the kitchen when the tear-strip doesn't cut it and the edge is somewhere on the roll, or cheesey transparent tape that breaks and you have to pick at it to start again. Seriously, easy on the Star-bucks, instead maybe a beer or a glass of wine, leave the cell-phone down, relax and deal with it. Good application, by the way. A really leaky window can cost you a hundred bucks before spring. If buying more, try the 3M products, always the best.
Q: replace car door windows with plastic windows.how much and where.
You really need to consult a glazier before doing that. I have a friend who did that on a Volks Wagon Beetle street dragster and he can't keep the windows clean for anything. Most autoglass in the US is DOT regulated to be tempered, so aside from the safety aspect, I'm not sure why you'd want to.
Q: i got mad and threw something a my widow and one panel broke so how do i reinforce that otherpanel
I have repaired CRACKED window panes. It's important that none of the glass fell out, AND that all the cracked edges fit to each other tightly, AND are flush with each other. When all the pieces are flush [flat to each other, and in the same 'plane'] I VERY GENTLY AND CAREFULLY squeeze Super Glue ONLY INTO the cracks. IF one is very careful, surface tension 'draws' [sucks] the glue into the crack without leaving any excess on the glass surfaces to mar the appearance, AND if done properly, when cured, the glue 'disappears,' and the crack almost disappears. The Super Glue not only 'hides' the crack, but it also reinforces and waterproofs the joint. I do not know how long this 'fix' will last because the Ultraviolet in sunlight MIGHT degrade the glue, but if it should, one could always just 'run another bead' of glue.
Q: I'm moving out of my apartment in a couple weeks and i have these plastic-like window blinds around the place. I was wondering if anyone knew how to get these things clean without taking them down? They're supposed to be white but I'm noticing a couple yellowish-brownish stains on them. I've tried all sorts of chemicals to try and get these things cleaned. No luck at all.
I have the same problem with mine. I've tried everything! Cleaning products you use to clean the kitchen and floors, vinegar, bleach, Oxiclean, etc... Nothing I've tried has even faded the stains. I have finally given up and believe the only way to get rid of the stains, is to replace the blinds with new ones.
Q: I have a 1994 convertible with a plastic rear window, and it has 13 years of dirtiness on that thing. There is a bunch of ugly what I presume are scratches all across teh middle (probably from the folding process). Also, there are little almost transparent white circles (you have to see them from an angle though)... that are also really annoying. Can you identify what those circles are??I've tried meguire's plastx polish...and even some white vinegar distilled in water.Currently, im looking for a more aggressive product.
I agree with John Paul. No matter how much you try to refurbish it you'll still notice all of the blemishes that bother you.
