- Q: My son sprayed 50 SPF sunscreen on the front of our washer and dryer I have tried everything and nothing seems to take it off. It just leaves a haze on the clear plastic. Any suggestions?
- Well there are a few things known to work on sunscreen. One of them is makeup remover you could try rubbing it around the window with paper towels or one of the Mr. Clean's magic erasers. I dont know if you have ever heard of goo-gone, but it is meant to remove sticky, greasy or just about and substance and should work for the sunscreen, it can be found in the cleaning section at lots of grocery stores. I was thinking even nail polish remover? I dont know if you have tried a very small amount of that on it. Good Luck with this project though!
- Q: I saw an online video that we can go to our local home depot etc and buy kits where we use a blow drying and put plastic on the inside of our windows. How much does this really help in saving on energy costs for those of you who know this kind of stuff. I am on a very limited budget, so I am looking at those,
- Couldn't have afforded winter in MI with out them! We lived in a 100 year old farm house, on a budget. We used plastic on all the windows and heated the whole house with the wood stove. The wood was free,(we cut and chopped it ourselves) and we only spent about 30 bucks on the plastic. Now that we live in NC, we still cover the windows, but we have electric heat now. I miss the wood stove!
- Q: Do they get melted down with the paper particles or is there someone that removes the plastic parts? Just curious.
- These bits of plastic get caught in the screens that filter the water out after the paper is pulped, since they are no good for making new paper. These filters take out all kinds of contamination that would be bad for the new paper. The sludge left on the screens is usually discarded in the landfill, but in some areas it's composted.
- Q: I have seen it done both ways.
- Inside. Try reading the instructions
- Q: I would like to completely remove it off of the car without removing the whole top? (The zipper broke)
- I removed mine with a razor knife, just be careful not to cut your fingers..
- Q: a$$hole, right? and what are they officially called, so i can look them up?
- They okorder (this is a site I use all the time). It is almost just as cheap to replace the entire top, as buy new windows.
- Q: I'm tired of buying those window insulation kits that cost a lot and have a postage stamp's worth of plastic inside that covers maybe 1 1/2 windows. Is there a way to buy that type of plastic in bulk from somewhere? What is the brand, and where do they sell it?
- You can apply Duck Roll-On 3-Window Film or 3M window insulation Kit this product will increase the insulation value in your windows. You can purchase this product at your local hardware store.
- Q: recently the plastic window in the back of my 91 mazda miata convertable top tore and iv been looking for where i can buy just the plastic window but i cant find it i can only find buying a brand new top all together but i know the top is made to be able to replace only the plastic so if you know where i can find these please help
- Ebay, Or the dealership. It may need a professional install if it needs tobe sewn in. Try local convertable top shops or a upolstry shop.
- Q: I'm thinking of buying wool army blankets for every window. Is that the warmest and cheapest thing?Plastic may plug up drafts, but it has never kept the house warm.
- Sounds like you are in an old house with single pane windows. Go to Home Depot and talk to them about weather stripping your windows and doors. Check all the outlets on outside walls too. They make an insert you can put under the cover plate to stop drafts. You might look into the plastic that you heat up and it forms a tight seal on the windows. Insulated drapes would help a lot as well. Good Luck!!
- Q: I have tried the heating up shrink wrap and the double sided sticky tape won't hold on my wall. So I bought a thick layer of plastic and tried to hold it up with tacks and just duct tape around it. The duct tape also comes peeling of my walls. Is there some kind of tape/glue that can hold this plastic up and not peel off my walls?
- I would try using a tube of white, tan, brown painters latex caulking in a small 11 oz. tube and caulking gun. All purchased for under $10. The latex caulk will adhere to just about any surface and can be removed at a later date by lightly scraping off with putty knife or just painting over it. You may need to use your tacks, or tape to hold it in place for 10 minutes until the caulk starts to dry. Just a thin bead all the way around the window.
