- Q: I am remodeling a small bathroom only 39sq ft. I had someone come out and give me an estimate, he brought a sample of a job he did and tried to sell me on that design, which will NOT complement my existing fixtures, since my existing fixtures are fairly new, I decided to reuse those to save me money. Anyways, this sample he brought me used 16in tiles, since my bathroom is so small, I think huge tile will make it seem even smaller and claustrophobic, I was thinking 1in-4in tiles, but this guy insists that large tile will make the small bathroom seem larger, is there any truth to this? Also, what is a good price to pay, I want the tub replaced, the tile around the tub, replace the small window, flip the sink and toilet so that the sink sits where the toilet is at and the toilet where the sink is, maybe re-tile the floor. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
- Small tiles will make the room look larger. Your other plans are going to cost a bundle, especially switching the toilet and sink positions.

- Q: Im applying going for a pre apprenticeship next month and I‘m not sure which one to choose from, electrician or wall and floor tiling? I think electrician pays more but you need to be a bit smarter the I am and I‘m afraid I won‘t do well. Or I could just to.. You know tiling not that hard. - Start doing the largest area and do a 1/2 tile on the out side wall. All interior walls are supposed to be layed out to the out side and be square. Now if you have a long visible hall way near by, you may want to split that to get a good look at it from there. Its hard to positively say with out seeing it. I could visualize it then. Since this is a diagonal you cant control to much where the tiles land. If it were a straight lay, you d have a bit more control as to the layout. - Get the proper trowels for the size of tile your doing. Get the proper drill and paddle to mix the thin set Mix the grout by hand or you ll incorporate air into the grout , weakening it.. They don t always show the proper way to lay out tile. Speed squares come in handy, Use a fine tipped marker, pencil marks will come off most tile doing it through a wet saw. Rent a wet saw or if you plan on tiling again, save money in the long run and buy a medium grade saw. With a stand if possible. What is the smallest number of pieces Kent can have left over after covering the floor? - Q: I laid some ceramic tile about 6 years ago in a family room. There are some tile that sound hallow, Like they did not set in the adhesive securely. Nothing else is wrong with the tile, but it does sound hallow when you walk on it. I laid the tile on a concrete slab. How would you go about fixing this? I thought of drilling a small hole in the center of the tile and spraying some liquid insulation (that you put around windows) and grouting the hole closed with some grout the same color as the tile.
- The best way is to remove the affected tiles remove the adhesive then reset the tiles
