Q: I‘m gutting my bathroom and will be tiling the floor and then adding a new vanity and a new toilet. The question is, do you tile before you put in the toilet and new vanity or do you put in these items first and then tile around them? Concrete slab foundation that I‘m currently working on leveling.
Definitely before. Its just the right way, and anyway you'd have to do a lot more intricate cuts to make it look right. Also, mark where the vanity will sit and just go a couple of inches underneath and you can save a few tiles. After Diy Doc's answer, let me add that if you finish and didn't break too many tiles cutting them and have the extras, by all means fill in under the vanity the next day if you want. I just didn't want you to run short. Thanks Doc
Q: If so, I need to rewrite the tiles. To the kind of wax after you can see the kind of wax, do not know what should be bought? Thanks for reminding!
Waxing is one of the methods of porcelain fake, floor maintenance of a measure. To the floor wax can decontamination light, increase the appearance, but also pest control, moisture, anti-cracking, reduce the outside of the floor of the corrosion and wear and tear to extend the life of the floor, floor maintenance is necessary measures. Can be water wax, solid wax, liquid wax, natural wax, spray wax. There are several steps to wax the floor: Selection of the market supply of floor wax on the white, light yellow, brown and so on, the user can choose according to the color of their own floor color can also be left to burn the candle to cut the candle, add the same amount of turpentine, boiled water , So that the candle melting, stirring into shoe-like, can be used for local wax, but the use of a little heat. Dust first with a steel velvet pad in the wax brush along the floor of the lines before and after the push, forced rub, the garbage, stains, dirt thoroughly clean, and then slightly wet mop wipe the floor again, you can wax. Waxing every 1 year or 2 months last time wax, the amount can be decremented in turn, the first wax slightly more, every 30 square meters of the ground, you can play about 300 grams of floor wax. Wax evenly applied to the floor surface and make it "soaked". After wiping the wax, so that the floor fully absorbed, completely dry, with a soft cloth on the floor to wipe back and forth until the smooth translucent so far.
Q: What is the standard water absorption of tiles?
It depends on which tile is. General magnetic bricks (polished tiles, better external walls, etc.) standard water absorption is less than 5%. There is also a completely impermeable interior wall with a standard water absorption of less than 10%. A little bit of the interior wall (permeable one) is greater than 10%. Magnet is generally better in water absorption.
Q: What procedure to use to keep the tiles from falling from the ceiling before the mortar dries.
I was just thinking about this. Can you attach the tiles to backerboard or Durrock on the ground first and then glue the whole ceiling into place with 2x4 proping it up or leave a couple tiles out to also catch a few screws with the construction adhesive. later you can touch up around the edges and grout If NotHow about contact cement use alot of it though not a thin coat. OH and don't use mortar use construction adhesive it will actually stick and better then mastic. Mortar is for the floor
Q: Hexagonal tiles of side 20cm are used to tile a room that measures 6.25m by 4.85m. Assuming we complete edges by cutting up tiles how many tiles are needed?
A general rule of thumb is to order 10% more tile than your normal square footage to allow for such cuts, etc.
Q: Anyone know how much I should expect to pay to have a professional install ceramic tile flooring? The prep work has been done. The tile is 12 x 12, there‘s about 90 sq ft of floor (concrete... sealed). I‘ve purchased the materials (tile, thinset, grout). I just want to know how much to expect to pay for labor. Is $5.00 per sq ft. too much? That‘s the quote I was given. Thanks for any help.
$5 is a bit much if all the prep work has been done already. It really depends where you are. I can get $5 per s/f in new york but only half that in LA.
Q: Is it hard to fit tile around the toilet? Should I start there first?
no, but fitting around the toilet is very simple start at your starting point when you get to the toilet heat the tile with a hair dryer so it gets real soft and can cut very easy when cut to fit and the tile is laid use some caulk areound all base boards and toilet...good luck it will look great..
Q: i mean i know they make tiles obviously, but how do they go about doing that exactly?
Hello Most of the tile makers now use dust clay(fine powder) .they have a standard 6x6 two part mould that they fill with a set amount of the powdered clay insert the filled mould in to a fly press of similar type of press remove from the mold decorate glaze and fire in the kiln. this is just to give you some idea. The traditional way is to use plastic clay that's wet clay that you can press into a tile mould by hand or a small press remove leave to dry and then fire when fully dry.You can fine a few help full books on the internet or the Library. Cheers Bob a Job
Q: I want to buy lenulim tiles for bathroom. how can I measure how many do I need? and should I start putting in from the center? is there a link to watch? thanks.
If you are using large 1ft square tiles, and your friend did a bad job on the the mosaic tiles I wouldn't suggest doing it. The weight of the tiles may loosen the the smaller tiles causing the larger tiles to fall. This could be dangerous in a shower or bathtub area. The tiles may shatter leaving sharp little shards of tile everywhere, including in the flesh of anyone nearby. I was going to put 16 x 16 tiles in my shower area, and a contractor said I better be sure the wall above the shower is secure because if one came loose and hit me in the head it would not be good. I went with little 1 x 1 tiles on the ceiling with larger tiles on the wall. Whatever you put up is only going to be as secure as what's behind it. Just my opinion, but for safeties sake, I would remove the old tile and start over. Remember, there is never enough time or money to do it right the first time, but there is ALWAYS enough time and money to do it over!!!
Q: Jane marble tiles how to join
1, Jane tiles are high-grade tiles, each place is only allowed to have a total dealer, that is, if someone agent, then you can not be a proxy. 2, Jane does not need the initial fee, but you need to be able to invest at least a 300 square store, pre-investment, it is still more than 600,000 it 3, wish business is booming, made a fortune!
