Q: My tires were filled with nitrogen. I had driven the car around for about 20 minutes before i topped it off with air. With the tires Hot i filled the tires to 35psi they are max rated at 44psi. If the tires were hot at 35psi what should i expect a cold reading to look like. One tire was around 26PSI. I accidentally let out to much air. Is the car safe to drive like this?
The tire pressure should be what the manufacturer placed on the sticker on the driver's side pillar (just behind the driver). That is what you should use for the best ride. Tire pressures molded into the tire are maximum ratings. There's about a 4-5 psi difference between hot and cold passenger car and light truck tires. You can drive for short distances at 26 psi. But correct the inflation pressure as soon as practical. Don't waste your money on nitrogen filled tires. Air is about 79% nitrogen anyway.
Q: 15 inch rims and want the best tires possible
It depends on where and how you plan to use them really. Is it off road, street or a mix? Any tire with a AA traction rating is about the best you can get as far as the NHSTA is concerned. If its going to be for mixed or off road use you should make sure the tire has a M+S mark on the carcass of the tire. This means it has been mud and snow rated as part of the traction score. Hope this helps!
Q: tires need air checking pressure
The sidewall information gives you MAX PSI and you should not use max. Start about 5PSI less than max and only go down from there for a more comfortable ride. Don't go lower than 32 PSI.
Q: ok can you guys tell me which tire brand is better i only have two options due to CASH!!!! first option is a brand called SUMMIT and the other is a brand called NEXEN the tire size i need is 225/55/16 if any of you guys know where i might find good tires at a low price let me know. thanks
Try craigslist in your area - I just purchased 4 new Kelley Springfield's for $100.00. Often people are cleaning out their garage of tires for vehicles they no longer own for one reason or another. Takes a little time but worth the effort
Q: In most cars there is a tag alongside the drivers door indicating relevant information including recommended tire size to use and tire pressure to apply. My question is: Assuming that the car owner will need new tires periodically using different brands but the same size, does the recommended car manufacturer tire pressure still apply or does it necessarily have to change. Every time I get my tires balanced and rotated, the mechanic always overpressurize the tires by about 5 psi although I suggested to them to follow the pressure listed on the tag.
Yes, stick with the recommended PSI which the automaker of you vehicle determined would be best. This would be true regardless of the brand and model of tire, recommended tire PSI is based on the vehicle. And yes, some tire retailers can be a bit sloppy with putting the proper PSI in tires. Don't trust them, always double check. A pound or two over is fine, but anything more will unnecessarily make your ride more harsh and potentially wear your tires prematurely.
Q: I have a 2004 Toyota Camry LE - 4 Cyl. The tire number on it is: 205 65 r 15 m+s. And 94T. I want to purchase the BFGoodrich Advantage TA Tire - 205/65R15 94H BSW. Can someone confirm that this tire will fit my vehicle and be right? Thanks.
It's the same size tire, with a different performance rating. 205/65R15 is exactly the same size as 205 65 r 15.
Q: What is the difference between all season tires and all weather tires? I was looking for new tires but came across both kinds. I'm leaning towards the all weather but they are expensive..like 168/tire for my car and rims
Both are pretty much the same, but if you live where there is a lot of snow ,get snow tires.I do 60% or more of my driving on dirt or snow and keep snows on year round. Better traction on dirt and mud too. If most of your driving is on pavement get the snows off in the spring. Use a major brand, there is no such thing as a cheap tire they don't balance well and they don't last. Cheap costs more inthe long run!!!!
Q: Hi some one though it would be funny to let the air out of my moped front and back tires :(and way i was just wondering if any one knew what the tire pressure should be on a Suzuki Katana ay50 06 please really need to know because need it to get to and from work thanks guys i hope some one can help me with this
the tire should say the psi the tire pressure should be. go get the tire numbers and search on line. without looking at your tires myself. I would guess about 35 psi. but your tires should have some info on the tires.
Q: Why the car tire pressure will be puncture
Insufficient air pressure will cause the tire carcass to buckle too much, the tire carcass buckling excessive will produce high heat, the inner airtight layer of rubber will be burned into dark spots, and then rubber and carcass cord fabric stripping. Serious words, the airtight layer of rubber will be high heat burning, resulting in melting, sustained high heat will make the tire's internal structure is seriously damaged. If the tire continues to travel in the event of a decrease in strength, it will eventually cause damage to the tire, and more severe damage to the tire pressure.
Q: I have a 2001 accord lx and i recently bought new 17‘‘ rims and 205/50-17 tires to replace the old 15‘‘s and their 205/65-15 tires. My question is about inflation. The placard on my car says to inflate to 29 psi cold for front and rear, but with these new wheels should i raise the psi or keep them at 29?
inflate to the pressure on the tire. not on the car's placard
