Q: can i wallpaper over a plasterboard?
Plain, ,just installed, raw plasterboard? I would think that would be fine. If it's painted, you might need to rough it up a little. If it's papered, you should probably remove the existing paper.
Q: Can I remove a raw plug from a wall without badly damaging the plasterboard?
Best just to punch it in, and plaster over the hole, less damage that way
Q: I have put my flat screen tv on the wall but now all the wires are hanging down from my tv to my sky box and my xbox etc. I have drilled a hole behind my tv and a hole near the floor so that I can drop the wires through to make it more tidy. I tied the cable to a wire coat hanger to push it though but the cavity is filled with insulation and i cant push the wires through to the bottom. Also there might be joists that I haven't found yet. Does anyone know an easier way of doing this? Thanks
Get a wire puller and insert it between the the drywall and the insulation vapor barrier(paper or plastic). There shouldn't be any joists in the way unless you have a split level house. If there is an obstruction it is probably conduit or fire blocking. I ran into fire blocking when doing my house and had to cut open dry wall and drill a hole to feed the wires through. Then I got expandable fire blocking foam to spray around in the hole with the wires after they were pulled. Lastly put back on the drywall and tape and paint. This was a lot of work but worth it for the look of a flat panel on a a wall with no wires showing. Or you could get track to put on the wall to conceal the wires that can be painted to match wall color and almost disappears.
Q: At our school, me and several other students are planning to make an outdoor mural to hang on the outside of the school building. the material thats been recommended for us to use is plywood, but it will cost us more money than our funds to get the size we want. one of us has a large board of gyprock that would be just the size we needed. can anyone tell me if we could use it to make the mural?is it weatherproof and will it be compatible with the paint?thank you in advance :)
I am assuming that what you are calling gyprock is what others called sheet rockor drywall which is gypsum (a chalk like material) sandwiched between two layers of heavy paper. If so this is a material that is used on interiors and is NOT weather proof. Exterior or a Marine grade plywood would be the ideal to use out of doors.
Q: Living room to do gypsum board ceiling what materials
Wood keel, gypsum board, gypsum board screws. Floor nails
Q: We have recently had a fairly big extension and now a considerable amount of our walls are plasterboard. I had painted one room a couple of months ago and now some of the screws have popped through from the plasterboard. I am now at the point where I need to paint my hall but I am reluctant to do this if some of the plasterboard screws are going to show through again. Should I get the walls skim coated or if any of the screws were going to pop would they have done so by now. Also is it expensive to skim coat?P.S I did paint the bathroom ceiling and first coat the surface was fine, went to give it a second coat and one of the screws had 'popped' Am I doing something wrong with the paint?
sounds like the screws were not properly set or sealed to begin with- probley just poor workmanship. Just so ya know after the screws are put in they need to be sunk in a bit with some pressure - then sealed with mud or patch. I would guess your contractor did that already. ? and are you sure they used screws? i only ask cause sometimes nails are used and they pop causing the problems you mentioned- but the right screw is used it is uncommon that would happen. If you live in a moist area where there is high humidity - it is possible that the plasterboard has expanded a bit pushing the screws out- you can have the humidty levels checked - or you can probley feel if there is excess moisture in the room and maybe that can be cleared up with good ventilation. It is also possible they did not use a long enough screw, or the beam was not hit when it was screwed in- if thats the case then there probley is no remedy except basicly removing all the screws and repositioning them.
Q: I have moved into a new house which has an extension, I have found that the extension was not insulated. I wish to cut out some plasterboard, lay the insulation and then replace. Any ideas? There are 4 sunken spotlights in the ceiling which are at least 1 metre apart.
I would recommend going with blown in cellulose insulation. You can drill 2 inch holes in the drywall, blow in the insulation, patch the holes and save a ton of money, time and materials. Cellulose is safe, cheap, easy to do yourself. Drill for walls, use the access door or put one in to do the attic. You may need to protect the areas around the ceiling lights due to heat dangers.
Q: im wanting to do a big art piece and though a plasterboard may be the best thing but i was wondering about when it comes to painting it is there anything id need to do before hand? and how would watercolour or acrilic paint look on it??
If you mean drywall with the paper backing on both sides, that would be really heavy, fragile, and be just like painting on paper. I think masonite, aka hardboard, is better. It comes in 1/8 and 1/4 and you would have to prime it first. Any good white latex paint would be as good as artist's acrylic gesso. Prime both sides equally to prevent warping. It would still probably benefit from a wood framework glued to the back before priming. If the frame is stiff enough, prime just the front.
Q: Which is better? Which cost accounting? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Thank you
Caigang sandwich board is good, at least after the partition to do inside the office inside the winter is relatively warm, unless the winter you have the company warehouse heating! Color steel sandwich board material price 30 yuan / ㎡, gypsum board package package material about 40 yuan / square, aluminum alloy grille more expensive, so the color steel sandwich board construction is convenient, low cost of materials, insulation effect, sound insulation effect is better than The other two
