What are the materials?

Will I automatically get Sofa Status when we get married or how does that work? We will also be living off of base. Am I going to have to get a visa also to work on base, even though we are married?
- I think the SOFA is sort of your visa. Meaning, if you have SOFA staus, you will not need a separate visa to be in Japan. As for work, SOFA has special rules and regulations regarding dependant and employment. You may need to consult with base personel regarding the detailed rules and regs. In general, much of the work that is not DOD or US Military specific, is supposed to be given to local residents.
- Q: I'd really like to do a mid-century inspired design but my husband just bought these couches for me this year and will not let me get new ones. How can I make them work?
- How do you mean? Make it work? They are for sitting. Stand in front of the spot you would like to sit on with your back facing the sofa. Bend your knees a little and lean back.
- Q: I just bought a brown sofa. It is the color of chocolate and beige, but mostly dark brown. I thought of red curtains but I don't know if that would look good. I also have a beige carpet and chair, so I need some colors other than neutral or brown.
- Brown goes with everything. It's kind of a neutral color. We had a brown sofa and carpet and chairs, and I used eggshell curtains, but I changed the valences to different colors. I also used a lot of colorful throw pillows in the room. Candles add color too. You can really use just about anything. Sometimes a plaid that picks up the brown is good. I just like white or off white curtains at my windows, for uniformity outside. Have fun decorating.

- Yes, you should I mean when you have company your room is going to be their impression of what kind of person you are. If I stepped into your room and smelt cigarette I wouldent sit on the sofa... I dont smoke so I would notice VS someone who is a smoker it wont bother them as much. If you had a family member come over who hasent seen you in like forever im pretty sure you wouldent want them to think Wow this guy/girl is nasty his room smells like smoke. To me a person who smells like smoke is yucky, but again I dont smoke so to me and other non-smokers it would but for someone who smokes it wont.

- Look at the sofa for a manufactures or store tag. Then check if they have a web page....if they do, check to see if they are selling the part If you cannot find it...depending on the part. Maybe a seamstress or a professional upholster good luck with it. :)

- did you try checkin a thrift shop? They probably have couch covers and sheets that you can get for like .25-$1 a piece. If your local habitat for humanity has a thrift shop you should go check it out...
