- Q: I bought an ikea Ektorp sofa two years ago.In the first year itself, I noticed feather leaking out of the sofas, it seems Ikea uses feathers in their cushions.Anyway when I was about to wash, I removed the slipcovers and there was just so much feathers that have leaked out. Also after washing the color of the slipcovers faded.I should have returned the sofa in the first year as they have a three year guarantee but I was busy and all. I can still return since my 3 years is not up so I would like to ask has anyone returned ikea sofas due to the quality. Did Ikea take it back after you complained, any problems returning the sofa? Has anyone complained but Ikea decided not to take the sofa back?Any advice what I should do about the sofa? It is such a waste, the sofa is still comfortable just a hassle when cleaning as there are a lot of feathers leaking out, eventually I think this will cause the cushions to sag/sink. Also the color has faded in just 2 short years.I guess I expected better quality from ikea.
- The Ektorp sofa has an awful reputation. I almost bought one last year but I did some research first and I'm glad I did! All the problems you've experienced are the similar to the stories I read. Apparently, the covers are well known for fading. I would try to take it back and get a refund or at least a replacement sofa. Good luck.
- Q: I have a microfiber sofa and love seat i got from value city furniture and it didn't come with care instructions and my son kind spilled soda on it the cushions unzip i was wondering if it would be safe to toss it the washing machine on gentle with cold water the air dry to get them clean or use my handheld steam cleaner
- its almsot always a bad idea to was the cushion covers in the washing machine. The covers get distorted, they no longer fit like they are suposed to the seams will not line up it looks weird. You can always tell when someone does this. The handheld steamer will work better, however with micro-fibre you cannot spot clean, its very noticable if you do. You will have to clean the whole sofa. The good news is micro-fibre is almost always heavily stainguarded which means stains clean out of it very easily

It features classic nail head detailing, which I love, and it's not too modern. - No you cannot use the SOFA stamp to come into the US. The SOFA stamp is for when you are in a foreign country with the US military. To get into the US you need to do the proper immigration process. The children if they are his, even though born outside the US are US Citizens so they will not need a Visa or immigration. you as the spouse will, as you were living overseas you could have applied for Citizenship earlier if you wished. You can go to the Embassy and do the paperwork.

- I've had a sofa and a few chairs reupholstered. The sofa was the most expensive because of the amount of materials needed. I think I paid about $175 for that and about $100 each for the chairs. But I didn't have to pay labor because my mom did them for me. Some tech colleges offer upholstery classes and you can do your own for less than paying a professional or sometimes the people in the class are looking for projects to do.
