- Q: Ive poured pounds of food particles down my kitchen sink, and I dont even have a in-sink grinder, and the sink never clogs. But one well-timed dump can clog the toilet like that. Why is that?
- its true, hair etc, are the main culprits of stoppages in the bathroom, but remember, the difference between the kit & bath are open drains in the kitchen and a waterdrain stopper in the sinks in the bathrooms. the stoppers hang down into the trap area and usually catch hair etc and tend to clog it more often than the kitchen and open drains. note: just remove the stopper from the drain and clean the hair off the stopper every other month or sooner if necessary. clean the trap too. as for your toilet, they do not have traps in the lines...they are in the toilets themselves. lnote: if you are getting stoppage in the 3-4 lines for your sewer b4 it hits your kitchen sink area, its because you either have roots growing in the lines and the line may have cracked and therefore allowing the roots to penetrate the lines and when the waste is furthered with the toilet paper it grabs on to the roots and clogs the lines.. upled with the hair etc going down the bath sink; its a traffic jam. remedy: you need to roto-root the lines between the kitchen and the bathroom area. !!! if you notice a wet spot or lots of green grass growing outside the home in a particular spot, that may be the spot where the line is broken and you need to dig it up and repair the line.

- It depends on the size of the bathroom and the layout to decide. If the bathroom is too small, the top is too low, it is best not to use the cabinet, of course, with the function of the cabinet is relatively strong, you can bath towel shower and some small things.

- There is probably a fault in the hydraulics design of the drain system which is causing the water seal in the trap to be lost - usually when the lavatory is flushed (which is almost certainly on the same drain run). This allows sewer smellls to enter the house. You might need to look into fitting an air admittance valve (dervo) which would easily cure this - but you would be better getting someone to look at it for you if you do not know what yu are about. If it was me I would have the contractor back to sort it.

- Squirt some vinegar or some bathroom cleaner down there and wait for about 15-20 minutes. After, rinse it and the smell should be gone. --- An overflow is cast into a bathroom sink near the rim. If the sink is overfilled, water drains through the overflow hole(s), through a small passageway, and into the trap. Smelly, sludge-like material can build up in the passageway. You can clean away this sludge. Mix a strong solution of detergent and very hot water. Pour it down the overflow. If the smell persists, try a mixture of laundry bleach and water followed by thorough rinsing with water. If you can see sludge, loosen it with a stiff brush and rinse it away. --- Sewer smell in home When you detect a sewer smell in your home, there may be a dry trap in the drainage system. Often the smell comes from a floor drain in the basement. All drains to a sewer system have a P shaped trap which is usually filled with water. The trap provides a seal to keep out sewer gas. If your basement floor drain is rarely used, water evaporates from the trap over time. Eventually the seal is eliminated, allowing sewer gas (and smell) into your house. The solution is easy: pour water into the drain. If the smell is noticeable mainly around a sink, try flushing a strong cleaner and bleach down the sink's overflow-the small hole(s) inside the bowl near the rim. When the sink fills to near overflowing, water is routed through an inner chamber to the drain. Debris can collect inside the inner chamber, causing odor. If neither of these measures solves the problem, there may be a small leak in one of the vent lines of the plumbing system, or a small leak around the base of a toilet or other fixture. You may need the help of a plumber. Check for loose fittings, corrosion, or holes in vent piping. Also, check the top side of horizontal drain pipes. If the top is rusted, it may never leak liquid, but it will leak sewer gas. Drain lines made of copper, steel or cast iron may all exhibit this problem.
- Q: I cleaned out the Tube under the bathroom sink, there was gunk in there. However when i put the tube back in it's still clogged. I even cleaned the shaft running from the drain to the tube.

- Q: I checked for a valve under the sink to see if it possibly wasn't open all the way but i did not see any valves. The cold water pressure is fine in the bathroom sink but hot water has been horrible since I moved in 7 months ago. Kitchen, and bathtub hot water pressure is just fine. The sink appeared to be newer if not brand new when I moved in. I live in the city, if that helps to know that I have city water and not well water. Please advise..I would love to be able to wash my hands with higher warm water pressureThanks in advance
