FAQ of Tower Crane

Q: What kinds of tower crane are available now?

A: Four main categories: normal tower crane with cat head, internal climbing tower crane, top less tower crane and luffing tower crane.

Q: What kind of steel used for tower crane?

A: Normally, as for the main force bearing steel structure, Q345B is adopted; as for the assistance force bearing steel structure Q235B is adopted. All of the raw material is outsourced from qualified steel factory in China.

Q: Your tower crane is similar to Potain or Liebherr type?

A: We could develop any type of tower crane as per clients’ requirements if the clear information is provided. Originally, our tower crane design is based on Liebherr; but now, we not only introduced Potain design; but also developed special tower crane according to the market needs such as TC5013A with panel mast section. In addition, we also produce some models same as Potain original model, such as F0/23B, H3/36B and etc.

Q: How does the torque of a construction crane relate to the torque of a car?
In an automobile, you are looking for torque over a wide range of speeds and loads. A crane does not need to have a great deal of speed in terms of lifting an object but does need a great deal of torque. The result is an automobile needs much more horsepower to meet its goals while a crane can actually lift a huge load with a much smaller amount of horsepower. I personally can remember a lift on one of the construction projects I was field engineer on. The lift of 650,000 pounds was made with two 85 horsepower Ford gasoline engines and two industrial gear boxes.
Q: I have an odd fear of construction cranes. I literally get chills and almost dizzy anytime I see cranes. I get very nervous and almost want to cry. I know this is so odd but, I've seen phobias of things that are even more odd so I wonder...is there a phobia for my fear? Does anyone else share my fear?
Devastator-aphobia. Sorry. It's a bad reference to the Transformers cartoons in the 1980s. The constructicons were robots who linked together to form Devastator. It was kind of a Voltron rip-off, except with backhoes and forklifts instead of robot lions.
Q: I watched a man climb one once and he wasn't secured. Crazy. How much do they get?If there are any operators on here, do you get scared when you climb up/down?
Tower crane operators are actually one of the highest paid of crane operators. It takes many years of career progression and many skills upgrading courses to reach that level. Crane operators start out with the crane trucks operating on ground level. They earn about 2k to 3k a month at this stage. They then progress to low rise cranes and then finally to high rise cranes. All the high rise crane operators are specialists in their field with many years of working experience. They would earn perhaps 7k to 8k a month.
Q: I'm talking about one of the ones where the cabin and the worker is high up in the air. You cant exactly remove a part of the bottom of the cranes structure because it would fall on top of you but you cant remove the cabin because its so high up and what can get up that high to remove it except another crane BUT how did that get built ?Thank you.
A tower crane is usually assembled by a telescopic crane of smaller lifting capacity but greater height and in the case of tower cranes that have risen while constructing very tall skyscrapers, a smaller crane (or derrick) will sometimes be lifted to the roof of the completed tower to dismantle the tower crane afterwards. A self-assembling tower crane lifts itself off the ground using jacks, allowing the next section of the tower to be inserted at ground level.
Q: How much should the verticality of a tower crane be controlled? Thank you
No, the wind speed is not more than 3m/s, the independent state tower (or attached state highest attachment point above the tower axis) lateral verticality tolerance is 4/1000, the highest tower axis perpendicularity allowed attachment line below the point of difference is 2/1000.
Q: What is the Tower crane Roadb track laying criteria?????????
The okorder ) track in the vertical and horizontal direction is not more than 1 / 1000. (we Should use the standard instrument, two tracks, and keep in10m range ,Measuring not less than 3 periods, respectively, taking the average).
Q: Also, could anyone give me a site with a detailed behind the scenes look on different types of freight ships? I hold a strong interest in the shipping sector and being unsure on little details like these annoy me. Thanks!
? ? ? Onboard Cranes from the cabs on each Crane , where'd you think from ?
Q: I have to read this book for an AP class next year. I did read the book and i don't understand how i can discuss the setting and its possible relationship to the theme. I looked stuff up on the internet and I've asked other people who have read the book and they're just as confused as I am. I need help!
I can't tell you what to write or what you see as the theme but one of the themes in the book is man versus nature. Maybe you could discuss the setting as part of nature and what Crane seems to be saying about it. One thing that might help is a poem Crane wrote which explains how he sees things. Maybe you already know it. It's titled A man said to the universe A man said to the universe, Sir, I exist! However, replied the universe the fact has not created in me a sense of obligation. An indifferent universe. Not unlike how Thomas Hardy saw things.
Q: I'm trying to workout the best height of a truss for a ship-to-shore container crane project. The crane will have a 65m outreach, 18m center section and 15m backreach. I was thinking in the region of 2m-3m truss height.Any input would be great. Thanks
Jimmy: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) produces design standards for many types of cranes: see the link below. Many crane owners, licensing and governmental authorities having jurisdiction over cranes require design, fabrication and testing to ASME standards.
