- get a hand held GPS for walking. i use a Garmin. it has features more suited to use in the outback, like waypoints for finding your way back. real time compass for staying on direction. and long AA battery life.

- I would suggest getting the rechargeable battery pack because it'll save you a lot of money in the long run. Don't bother getting the cooler because it's just a waste of money. In some cases, it does more harm than good. Pelican, Nyco, etc. are just playing to gamer's fear of the heat. Not one person has said that their PS3 or Wii have overheated, but those companies still sell coolers for them. So what does this tell you about those companies? I also suggest you get some games and maybe an extra controller.
- Q: I am thinking if the bike comes with SLA batteries of 10Ah, I could cheaply make a NiMH pack with 2Ah (bunch of AA cells) to boost performance. I am thinking of connecting it parallel to the SLA batteries (+ to +, - to -). - take two battery packs hook the 1 red wire from one and one black wire from the other together, Then hook the left over wires to the car like normal. (you will have to cut and splice some wires. this will give you twice the power.

- The issue with long charge times is heat. When you charge a battery, either using a fast charger or slow charge, the power going into it reverses the chemical action to the state it needs to be in to produce electricity again. When the battery is charged, the power going into the battery simply turns to heat. If the battery gets too hot it will vent to prevent it from exploding. This venting of gases means the battery can't work as well or it might not work at all. A slow charger usually charges a battery at 1/10 or less of it's rated capacity. This is low enough that the battery can be charged indefinitely without getting too hot. When a fast charger switches to the slow mode, it's at 1/10 or less of the capacity and this won't cause any heat problems.
