- It is a fact that if you run the battery all the way down and then charge it all the way up and don't plug it in until it is dead it will make the batteries last longer. Some things you don't want to do are: leave the device plugged in for long periods of time, don't let the device get too hot, don't let the device get too cold. If you do these things your batteries will last longer.
- Q: I have a Canon Rebel T3i and an extended battery pack I want to keep on my camera. I tug and tug and tug to get it out of my current bag. (Some reason it goes in easily) A case logic, with a top opening to slide in the camera lens for separate keeping with my base. I typically keep a 18-200mm as my walk around lens, and would love to keep that attached as well. - Q: i heard there was a way to fix a 18 volt cordless battery that wont hold a charge anymore.
- You have to open up the battery pack and replace the batteries. They are usually NiCD or NiMH. 18 Volts 15 pcs x 1.2 V rechargeable batteries. Use the same size (e.g. AA) and make sure the AH rating is the same or higher than the old ones. Buy replacements at your local Radioshack or electronics store. You need to solder them together in series. Use heavy gauge (14 awg or higher) solid copper wire. You can pound the wire flat with a hammer to reduce its thickness if space is an issue. Use the shortest length of wire possible to reduce resistance. Optional: You can remove the positive end caps from the batteries and solder directly on the positive terminal to reduce resistance. Resistance is a very big issue in low voltage DC appliances because the smallest rise in resistance can cause a large drop in voltage and power. Good luck and save money!

- Use an gell cell/AGM battery. Those are around 12V, and can run for hours depending on your chosen capacity and load drawn. An 18Ah battery might last 6-10 hours. It might help if you say why you need to run it without utility power, and for how long you need it to run.
