But instead of using the vehicle cigarette lighter adapter, you'd simply wire the bare ends directly to the battery. Kind of defeats the portability of it, though, since car batteries are pretty hefty. And you'd need some way to recharge the car battery. Car batteries, by the way, are not designed for discharge and recharge. They are designed for momentary heavy surges, or short term continuous use, and constant trickle charge. Deep discharge batteries, such as those used in golf carts, etc, are much more expensive.

- 22V is a bit of an unusual number, but modern stuff uses weird voltages. You may be able to find such a battery, but it would be costly. Contact Kicker and ask if it can operate on 24V; if so, you could use two inexpensive 12V batteries in series, or if a lower voltage would work acceptably (maybe 18V), you could use three 6V batteries in series. 14 D cells in series would provide 21.5V, which is close enough to 22V, but that's an awful lot of D cells.

- get rid of vista if you plan on playing games, this would be a wrong choice with the intel graphics card. try to look for a model with a nvidia video card. your best bet is for the xps series. also, go with the larter 9 cell battery if you want a decent battery life. with the 6, you'll get about 1.5 hours battery time after about 2 months. with the 9, you will get about 3 hours or more.
