SDHC card readers will read both SDHC cards and SD cards. The difference between SD and SDHC is that SDHC is formatted in FAT32, which allows for higher storage capacities. Looking at the specs for the A540, it looks like it doesn't take SDHC cards, so I have no idea what this SD2 card is that you're speaking of.
