Q: i have a lightning audio amp, it was wokring a few months ago when i pulled it out of my car, i tried yesterday to see if it worked, it turned one for 5 seconds and went into protection mode, so i tested it with the battery and it did the same, and the cables got hot, and help please: Having the alarm put in should not affect your amp, I hate taking my car somewhere thinking someone might play with, and maybe break my toys. But yes they were right always sand the ground spot till its nice and shiny but I cant see a week ground tripping the protection light. Try unhooking the power wire and run a temperary one from the amp to the battery to see if your power wire might be the culprit by wearing and posibly lightly shorting against metal. The power wire is the most likely to be the guilty party if everything bench tested good (also relace the fuse at the battery they can become defective without breaking I had that happen before) Good luck.

Q: I've lost the power cable (and other regular connection cables) for my Dell computer but have some from another computer (but don't know the make of them). This might be a stupid question but..can I use these for my Dell computer or do they need to be Dell cables?: Copper wire will conduct electricity, the rest is plastic. If they fit, use them.

I have a Beyer MCE-81 that requires phantom power and it takes an XLR cable. As for why it's called phantom power, the term refers to a power source external to the microphone, usually either in the form of a phantom power module or a power source built into each channel of a mixing console. Some mikes, by contrast, require a battery for their power source--I used to have a Sony mike that took a C battery.

Q: My internet went down after a lightning storm. My cable modem is completely unresponsive and won't even power up, but everything else on the power strip is fine. So I am assuming the surge came through the coaxial. Someone suggested that the cable might fry any new modem I put on it, but that sounds off to me.Do I need to replace the coaxial, or will it be safe to just replace the modem?: I think just the modem needs to be replaced.

Q: Hi my new computer's new power supply supports voltage from 100V - 240V. But the power cable's plug that came with it does not fit my country's. My country runs on 240V and the power cable that came with it says 10A 125V on it, and I THINK it's an U.S plug.So should I be getting a new power cable with higher max voltage or just a adapter so that the plug will fit?: if you have a computer that is made to run on lower voltage and you use a different power cord or adaptor to run a higher voltage you going to blow it up. Call the computer manufacturer and see if it is compatible to higher voltage first.

Q: SATA power connector? If so where can i buy one?: Probably, but most people just buy Molex to SATA power adapters. If you need more Molex 4 pin plugs, just buy some Y splitters. Any computer store worth a darn should have some of both in stock, even the chain ones.

Q: So, recently i purchased a new graphic card and it requires two 6 Pin PCI Express Power Cables. My current power supply generates 650W and only has 1 six pin PCI express power cable. Im at a loss to what to do now. Do i purchase a new power supply that has more pci express cables? Or do i open it up and add a new cable? Thanks if you can take the time to answer my question.: You're going to want to buy a new power supply that can handle it. To require two cables, this card sounds like a behemoth and you're likely going to want a bigger supply anyway. Adding a 6-pin cable isn't really a thing. I'd recommend Corsair for any supply as they're high quality and cheap.

Q: I was looking at buying the MSI HD6850 cyclone OC/power edition but on the msi website it says it includes an external power cable. Am I missing something? Do I need more than the standard pci-e 6 pin connector from the PSU?: Some graphics cards require you to connect a power cable to the board. As it requires more power than it can get through the pci connection.

Q: I am getting a new gaming computer for Christmas with a 700 watt, 12.5 AMP (I think) power supply. I have two power cords for computers on my shelf, but my dad is worried that a standard power cable won't properly power my computer. Do I need to get a more powerful cable? Thank you.: A standard cord will work, that is not 7.5 amps it is 700w/115V=6.08amps. for 15 amps you need 14guage wire and for 20 amps 12 gauge 30 amps 10 gauge,and so on, you may need to be aware of how many other things you plug in to that circuit, such as a tv in another room or even another computer because you may have more than one room on the sam house circuit
