- Q: i'm building a computer soon and i was unsure if the data/power cables come with the disc/hard drive or the motherboard or the psu.. HELP
- Data cables usually come with the mother board.....if you buy on OEM hard drive and optical drive they don't come with cables. The PSU has all the power cables you need. IF you buy a good mother board you usually get two or more SATA cables you only need one for the hard drive and one for the optical drive....so you don't have to buy any other cables separately.
- Q: Hi I purchased a Sony Bluray optical drive from Ebuyer (bad move),The drive showed up in a tackie box with no cables included, manuals etc. I plugged in a SATA cable in to the back but its not powering up, there is a slot for another connection but with no cables enclosed I am I right in saying the SATA cable should power the drive up as well?

- One very important thing people forgot to mention. Be sure you put a grommet in the hole you drill so the power wire doesn't get cut by the sharp edge and cause a short. You'll have to take into account the size of the fiitng of the grommet to ensure a good fit.

- It will be pci-e power connector(6or8pin) and should be connected, depend on the card as to how much power it requires, google your card numbers tdp it will tell you the max wattage of the card, best to have a supply with 250w + the cards wattage at least

- You should be able to use a large three prong power cable (with a ground on it) for your server.
- Q: I bought a new amp and sub to replace my old ones. I disconnected the battery, unplugged the old amp and plugged the new one in and when I reconnected my battery the power cable began to smoke at all the exposed ends and got very hot. What causes this? Is it because the new amp requires more current than the old one and that is causing it to get very hot? And what is the solution to my problem?Thanks
- What it sounds like is you accidentally connected the wires to the wrong terminals. If current were an issue u would most likely blow a fuse. But dont rule it out, u could just need a thicker gauge power 12v line. And also remember to ALWAYS GROUND the amp. either way, if it is an amp desined for car use, youre batt would never be too much power. If it is a high watt amp, you should look into buying a capaciter. Itll help regulate voltage usage and extend the life of your batt and alternator.

- you will want HDMI cable for each component that has an HDMI connection. ie: cable box, home theater playstation3/xbox 360 whatever you may have the only way to make complete use of your 1080P is to use HDMI for everything you can. Power strip of course is a given. you should be good as long as you have the cables.
- Q: what size of main power cable to use for two amps with combined power of 600 watts rms.the length of the run will be about 12 feet from battery to amplifiers.
- you can do this 2 ways have a 1/0 gauge wire running from your battery to a distrubtuin block that can branch off into 2 more wires, 4 gauge or 6/8.. and have each wire running to an amp or the same exact thing, except with a 4g wire from the battery to a splitter dist. block running into 2 8g wires.. but i would go with the first way.. will allow better power flow and not have to pull as much from the electrical system... and make sure the in-line fuse is the same rating of all amp fuses together.. so say each amp is a 30a fuse in each make sure the in-line fuse is at least 60amps
