- Q: Can you pleat crepe-back satin?
- It's not so much the weight as the fiber. Silk pleats nicely with home methods; polyester is tougher to handle and may need professional pleating. You might try using a Rajah press cloth -- sometimes it helps. You may also want to consider underlining the fabric for better drape. Hope you've been sewing for awhile, as satins needlemark (and watermark) terribly.

- put it in a garbage bag, add a box of baking soda. Shake vigorously to coat the jacket with baking soda. Leave it there overnight. In the morning, shake out your jacket and wipe it down. Smell should be gone.

- Q: I‘m going to make a hollow cat mask that is larger than a head and would cover the head entirely. It measures roughly 35cm x 16cm. My base is made of cardboard, with a layer of masking tape all over it. I was thinking of using plaster gauze to create the mask because it allows detailing and smoothing out with sandpaper but I am concerned with the weight of the plaster.Is there a lighter alternative that can be sandpapered down to create a smooth surface?

- i use fleece at the moment. i put a layer of newspaper on the bottom, then two layers of towels, then two layers of fleece. its brill but make sure when you buy your fleece to wash it 4 times to get rid of the waterproof barrier else the wee stays on the top and doesnt get wicked away to the underbeddings
