Installation

Eighty five percent of all window related problems spring from poor installation. Trained installation teams install the windows by firstly cleaning the window opening ,mounting the frames into the window apature,installing the hardware ,check horizontal alignment, drill precisely through the frame into the wall at the bottom of the window and insert fastenings to retain the window in the opening, check vertical alignment, secure the top of the frame with the same process, clean the frame and remove any dust, fill with sealant across all four sides, install glazing and test by opening and closing.

Q: The back window on my convertible got a hole put in it last winter, since then I've just been using tape to keep it together. I have a new plastic window complete with trim that will make a suitable replacement, I just need to know what kind of adhesive and how to apply it so that it stays put when the top is up and folds accordingly when the top goes down. I'd like to remove the old back window as well.: Either have it sewn in or get rid of the car. It will look like crap if you attempt to glue it in place.

Q: My son sprayed 50 SPF sunscreen on the front of our washer and dryer I have tried everything and nothing seems to take it off. It just leaves a haze on the clear plastic. Any suggestions?: Well there are a few things known to work on sunscreen. One of them is makeup remover you could try rubbing it around the window with paper towels or one of the Mr. Clean's magic erasers. I dont know if you have ever heard of goo-gone, but it is meant to remove sticky, greasy or just about and substance and should work for the sunscreen, it can be found in the cleaning section at lots of grocery stores. I was thinking even nail polish remover? I dont know if you have tried a very small amount of that on it. Good Luck with this project though!

Q: its like recycling plastic into paper use: Tyvek. it's random-laid, non-woven, almost impossible to tear, though you can cut it easily with a scissors or knife. If we could erase it easily, it would be a very good paper substitute.

Q: how do u use hair dryer to put plastic on windows?: first follow the instrctions to get the plastic in place. then run the hairdryer over the plastic,back and forth, till the plastic is taut. read the instructions on the kit.yes, you need to have a kit. you can get them at walmart or most hardware stores. figure a coupld of bucks per window. all the best.

Q: I don't know what they mean by 'apply tape to bottom of protruding sill.' I have a sill, do they mean on the surface of it, or below the sill on the wall, or should i just put the tape around the window and apply the plastic, just not sure how to handle the sill...thanks...: Having used this stuff myself, I've learned that the weak point in the system is the adhesive strength of the tape. Since the plastic will be stretched, it will be pulling constantly against the tape, so having the plastic go around edges before taping helps to reduce the force against the tape. In other words, instead of putting the tape along the inside edges of the molding, or even on the face, I wrap the plastic across the face of the molding and attach the tape along the outside edges of the molding, where it meets the wall. With the plastic going around a 90-degree bend, it helps relieve stress on that adhesive. At the sill, I put the tape on the bottom of the sill -- not the face of it, but the underside. That's what has worked best for me. The tape holds, and the plastic stays in place.

Q: for wranglar soft top windows: Might try Gripflex. It's sold by Sign Suppliers. It comes in many colors and light with show thru it, but it's too opaque to see thru. If you need to see thru the plastic look elsewhere.

Q: i got mad and threw something a my widow and one panel broke so how do i reinforce that otherpanel: no, but plixeglass will do it.

Q: i have 2 windows that are always wet in the winter. will putting plastic insulation over them help this problem?: It should keep the condensation from forming on the inside of the window, yes.
