Q: By non related I mean like not a minor in another engineering or computer science. I was thinking about possibly business. What do you think would be the best minor that would give me a better salary/job opportunity?
Minor in a language! Especially if you take Spanish (which 1/3 of the U.S. population now speaks!) or another language widely spoken in the area that you're looking for a job, it'll open up a lot of opportunities for you. It'll look good to potential employers, of course, as you'll be able to talk to more of their clients, and it'll also help you a lot in your personal life! I've been taking Spanish for a long time now, and I can't tell you how many opportunities it's opened up for me. There are so many awesome people I've gotten to know because I speak it, I've been able to help out people (like a woman on her first day of moving to the U.S. and a girl at a homeless shelter) by translating for them, and I've been able to eavesdrop on more conversations/surprise people by randomly speaking to them in Spanish (great fun!) Other languages that might be good for you would be Chinese or Japanese, given all the technological advances happening thereYou might be able to study abroad or do internships with some really cutting-edge companies, and that'd look good to employers. Plus, just the fact that that you could go to conferences or seminars in China or Japan would be very useful. There are a lot of people who will have similar backgrounds to you in engineering, and a language will help set you apart by giving you a really useful, really attractive-to-employers skill!
Q: i am currently working as a dog groomer, but i have been thinking of starting my own small business for a few years now. some ideas i had are dog walking, gardening services such as mowing lawns, weeding and planting, illustrations (i went to college for art), or hair cutting.are any of these ideas worth pursuing? what is required to start your own small business? if you started your own small business do you have any tips for me? how did you get started? thank you!
I started my business of repairing electrical equipment for the welding industry in 1985. All I did was fill out the DBA form (Doing Business As) at the county clerk office, and then got my sales tax exemption from the office of the Comptroller of Public Accounts. That's all of the legalities. It's easy! With this done, you can then open your company checking account at the bank. Now, With a college education in art why would you want to walk dogs or pull weeds for a living? I would think something like the Advertising Business would be a better use of your education and a lot more profitable venture.
Q: I am looking into putting a trailer hitch on my truck so that we can move. But I get a little bit confused when the mechanic starts talking about electrical equipment. Do I want a round 7 or a flat 4 or both? And is it necessary to also install a trailer brake controller?
The purpose of a truck is to do whatever you ask of it. For a lightweight trailer all you need to connect are the trailer lights, a flat four connector. For bigger trailers you need trailer brakes, a brake controller, and a round seven connector. You can get a plug-in adapter to go from your round-7 to a flat-4 if you haul a light trailer. You cannot go from a flat-4 to a round-7 with brakes without re-wiring the truck. Do it right, do it once.
Q: I don't understand how oil and gas industry has anything to do with electrical engineering jobs??Am I not seeing this because currently I am working as a electronics engineer ? This is how I am thinking about this - Oil and gas industry , digs up oil , provides it to our cars and trucks so they can run. Now I don't understand how or where Electrical engineers come into play into this ?? Please make me understand. I want to know.P.s: I am an entry level electronics engineer, with a degree in Electrical engineering , Currently I am located in Houston, texas.
A great deal of electric power is used in extracting oil and gas from the ground, transporting it through pipelines, separating and refining the crude products and distributing the products. Electrical engineers design the required electrical equipment and the associated electric power distribution and control systems. In some situations, electric power must be generated on site rather than purchased from electric utility companies. In addition, electrical engineers are involved in the process instrumentation and control system design. The process control includes both computer systems and specialized electronic equipment.
Q: I know that it would destroy active electrical equipment but if the device had no electricity going through it at the time could it be affected?

Q: Hi, I have an interview for an electrical engineering position with my city water district. I have a power and drives background but I am pretty sure that they are not a utility company. What exactly do electrical engineers do at the water cleaning districts? I appreciate anything response I can get. Thanks in advance.
The water district is a public utility. If they did not need someone with your skills, they would not have asked you for an interview. They use a lot of pumps, motors, and other electrical equipment. good luck with your interview.
Q: I have a sprinter van. Need to be able to power 4300 watts worth of electrical equipment. Like power conversion alternator etc What would i need to do. the equipment. cost etc.
Are you trying to power 120 Volt or 12 Volt electrical equipment? Either way you're looking at nearly 400 amps of additional load on the vehicle and that's a waaaay lot. If your equipment is 120 volt it would be much easier and cheaper to install a generator. Some generators even have regulated outputs that are very precise and surge-protected for sensitive equipment. If your equipment is 12 volt (such as a rack of amplifiers) then you're looking at adding a couple (or more) alternators and may need custom bracketry and fanbelts to drive them. I was at a car stereo competition years ago and there were vehicles with up to 6 alternators. The problem you will find is alternators are rated at their maximum output, not what they put out at idle. Even a 230 amp alternator may put out less than 100 amps at idle. Look for alternators built specifically for use while idling if this is your situation - either industrial vehicles or special alternators designed for stereo competition with high output at low rpms. If I was you I would research what types of industrial uses the Sprinter has been modified for and some of them may have already solved the very problem you're having.
Q: I wanted to buy electrical products in wholesale from China. I know some companies but to explore more i wanted to know which city can i find electrical products like bulbs, fluorescent tubes, chandeliers, spotlight lighting fixtures.I wont mind if there are different cities each for different products. One more thing i have never been to China. And please don't answer by telling to contact so and so personThank you

Q: can an odd electrical field produce a link with the energy of those said to be at rest?can a electrical field be contained a directed within ones body.have you ever experienced truelly odd static or electrical fenomena around you?
Yes We are energy Every animal, plant and object is made of energy.
Q: I have to declare a major in my schools engineering program at the end of this semester, and I was wondering what type of working enviroments I would probably be in with either major and a bachelors/masters degree? What are the jobs like in each major? Desk/factory/lab etc? I know there are lots of options in each program, but what are most of the jobs in each respective industry like? Thanks!
There are more USA jobs in electrical engineering than chemical engineers (see the source below) which may explain why I don't see that many chemical engineers. The few people I know who where chemist or chemical engineer moved into others fields. The one exception was a friend in college that I loss touch. Last I heard he working in production. All the EE that I know work in desk or lab work with occasional developmental testing of equipment in the field.
