Q: I bought a used printer but it did not have the power cable with it, but I have an old power cable from another printer. The only visble difference in the cables is that the colorful end that goes into the printer has a plastic notch on it that is in a different spot. My old one has the notch in the middle where is I need it off to the left. Can't I just shave the notch off and have it fit?: It's hard to say. Electrical equipment and parts are made for a specific reasons. Now, if you modify the power cable, it's possible that it may work. But, then again, there is also the possibility that it could do more damage than good. It will totally be your call.

A conductor has either 1, 3, or 5 electrons in the outer shell. Both copper and silver has only 1 electron in the outer shell. This is why copper is used in house wiring. A insulator generally has either 4 or 8 electrons in the outer shell. Carbon, which has 4 electrons in the outer shell, is a fairly good insulator. This is why carbon is used to make resistors.

If disconnect battery, then again appears to have electrical power, no fuses in panel or battery relay blown, but ignition clicks once and all electrical out again in car and starter does not engage.: It sounds like you have a bad connection or ground at the 2 battery cables. Or, one of the battery cables themselves is no good. It may be frayed or separated at the end of the cable. Your battery may read that it has enough voltage but if it fails under load then it won't start the car. Have the battery load tested or hook it up to another car and see if it starts it. The cold always makes a battery show when it's at the end of it's life because it makes the battery work harder when it's cold. Another possibility is the late 80's to mid 90's Fords had poorly made ignition switches. It could be your ignition switch. There was a recall across many Ford models including the Mustang. If you have your original switch then that could be the problem.

If you dropped pure water in electrical equipment what would happen: Water is actually a pretty good insulator. The water molecules themselves don't conduct electricity very well at all. Water is conductive when there are substances dissolved in the water which dissociate into ions. It's the ions which actually do the conducting. If you placed pure water on electrical equipment, you would get wet electronic equipment, with little chance for shorting out. It would actually depend on the voltages in the electron equipment. But keep in mind that pure what does contain some ions. First there is the autoionization of water to make H+ and OH-. Secondly pure water has a pH of around 5.5 to 6 due to the absorption of CO2 from the air. This will result in H+ and HCO3- ions. So pure water is not ion-free and will conduct electricity if the voltage is high enough.

Q: hey yahoos , i just graduated this december on the 22nd with a degree in Electrical and Computer engineering . Apart from the fact that i graduated with a decent gpa ( not that great ) i have no idea why i chose that major or what kind of a job i should be looking for . With that you can specilize in computer and microprocessors design, or antennas and microwave design, or power. So you will be fine.

Q: i need it pretty soon for my hw and if you dont mind can you explain what the process is thanks and keep it simple: Input is the source or something acted upon. Like the thermostat in the ac or heater system would be the input - telling the rest of the circuit that the temp is too low, therefor turn on the heat (or turn off the ac).
