Q: i have a rear wheel drive car and there is a nail in the back right tire. i took it 2 big o tires 2 have it patched but they said they couldnt patch it and i would need a new tire. my tires are almost 1 year old and i am going 2 the sane place that i originally bought my tires from. but should i have them balance my tires or what do i need 2 do 2 make sure the tires are all even??
The best and safest way to repair a tire is with what is known as the patch-plug. It is a patch and plug in one unit (Sears Auto Centers and their affiliates utilize this method, it looks like a mushroom w/a stem). The cost of the repair is about $20. and includes high-speed balancing. In order to perform such a repair the tire would have to be dismounted from the rim and the patch-plug is installed from the inside of the tire. The tire is slightly sanded on the inside where the repair is being made to ensure good adhesion of the patch-plug. Being that the tire is removed from the rim the tire has to be re-balanced with any patch repair. A cheaper and not as safe in the long-run repair, would be a standard tire plug that is essentially just stuck into the hole from the outside of the tire (no need to rebalance with such a repair). Please realize that this repair is not as reliable as the plug-patch. However unlike the patch repair this repair can be done close to the sidewall area of the tread. Please note: if the hole is on the sidewall do not repair the tire and replace it. You may want to consider road hazard coverage next time you purchase tires , Costco Wholesale includes this pro-rated insurance with their tires. Good Luck!
Q: What is the steel thing in the middle of the tires of the car?
The wheel is a cylindrical metal part with a shaft as the center for supporting the tire. In layman's terms, the position of the axle in which the axle is installed is the important zero point of the brake drum (brake disc), the wheel and the axle part.
Q: For that size whats the best tire you can get period?Bonus Question: What‘s the best tire of that size under $500?
no longer nicely surely worth the attempt to make your guy or woman when you consider for you to wreck your self if it fails. I purely injured myself on my bike and it fee me $a million,000 regularly practitioner visits. Plus, it heavily isn't as versatile and uncomplicated to apply. purely purchase it. this is stunning.
Q: Why are there tires on car tires? Why?
What food tread Pretend to understand! Lead block is to do the balance of the tires used to balance the tire, if you do not have a car to reach a certain speed will shake, the speed is high or low to see the lead block worse and less. There is no impact on the tires, not to mention eating tires.
Q: Tires on the car are Goodyear VIVA 2 86S with stock rims. Is it safe to use Nankang NS-2 84 V tires with 17 inch rims on the car.
Nankang tires are about the poorest quality tire available on the planet. Don't go cheap, it will come to bite you later. And sure, you can place a 17 inch tire and rim package on your 2003 Corolla. Best fit, without mods, would be 17x7.5 rims with 205/50-17 tires. If you are considering the Nankang tires you are obviously needing to keep the cost to a minimum. Look at the Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 or the Sumitomo HTR Z III for an entry level tire that is at least average quality.
Q: is there anybody out there that has the balloon tires and just for normal riding will i really feel a difference?considering the townie balloon tires over regular tires..?thanks mike.....
I have an Electra Straight 8 with the 3 wide tires and they eliminate the vibrations that one would feel from road irregularities. However these are the only tires I have ever had on it. I switch from 2" balloons and 1" racing tires on my recumbent bike and I have noticed these differences. The 2" tires allow me to run a lower pressure without damaging rims (around 50psi). If I was to run this low a pressure on the narrower tires the rims would be damaged by any large bumps or rocks I might run over, therefore they must be run at 90psi. The lower air pressure is what gives you a smoother ride. The lower pressure may make your bike slower rolling but unless you actually racing you probably wont notice it. Many riders will ride 100 miles with their tires at 50psi just for the comfort and don't feel slowed at all, some even say they are faster. I really don't see any need to run a tire over 1.5" or 38mm wide if you are riding on the road. The 2"ers I have are nice and comfy, they make feel better when I ride in the winter and may encounter ice but I don't think I will buy tires this wide again. They feel a little squirrelly when I go into a turn at high speed but I have not lost control of the bike yet. I would recommend that if your tires are 1.5"(38mm) or larger you can probably ride safely at 50psi (check the sidewall to be sure). This will make your bike ride smoother and give you more traction.
Q: I have a small hole in the tire that flattens the tire 3 days after I fill it back up. My local mechanic said he might be able to fix it, but he might not since it is such a small hole. So that makes me wonder if I can use that Dunlop sealant from Canadian tire to plug the hole. Can I?
Take the pipe of the valve and screw a plug in it. It sounds like a halve inch plug. You can pick one up at your local hardware store
Q: ok so i purchased 16 inch Rota Slipstreams (blk). I only got the wheels, now i need tires. can i go to a regular tire facility? is it gonna be expensive? What size tires do i need?
16 in, rims ditate same size tires? what kinda car is it and what look do wish to achieve? I'd recommend say a 255X75X16 all season ? they are profile and lots of tread? more racier look may be a 70 series tire?
Q: I have a road bike with tires 700x28. A few people have mentioned that if I change the tires to 700x23 I can gain a couple or so mph on my average. Is this true? If I reduce the width of the tire I can gain some speed? Also, if I do that would I have to change my rings as well to fit the 23 mm tire?
700 x 28 tires can be run at lower pressure to provide a smoother ride. If you often ride on rough roads wider tires can actually be faster. The difference in width between 23 and 28 mm is not very much, and individual variations between tire makes can mean that the difference is even less. Tire construction and the pressure you run in your tire will make more difference than tire width. Narrower tires will be slightly lighter, but they can actually have more rolling resistance than wider tires. If your 28 mm tires are lower end, heavy models, switching to a set of lightweight 23 mm tires will make a difference, but if your 28 mm tires are really good quality, you might not feel any improvement. The biggest advantage to 23 mm tires is that there is a much wider selection of high quality tires available
