- Q: I live in an apartment and ive never had floor tiles like these. There is concrete underneath but I think these are ceramic tiles on top.I have no clue what to use to bring back the shine.Any suggestions would be helpful
- i take advantage of a Magic Mop which has an abrasive facet and a gentle facet so i will scrub from a top. It took a splash getting used to and that i now %. up the airborne dirt and airborne dirt and dust bits with the graceful factor besides. bought in a food market or Wilkinson kind save. I additionally use bleach and a tiny little bit of washing up liquid as suggested by using Aggie in how sparkling is your place. tried the steam mop and each thing became very moist, attempt to borrow one to attempt in the previous paying for,
- Q: The house has been living for two years, these days do not know the weather is wet or how the matter, the bathroom tile actually fell a few pieces, but fortunately did not break. Now want to paste it back, I would like to ask, how to paste? With cement? Or what other glue? Do you want to drink again before There is also a problem with the brick at that time, but the closure or other problems? Another: Tiles are Mona Lisa. Thank you!
- Building materials store to sell plastic construction, smear to the back of the brick, paste it can be, I used n times.
- Q: We recently renovated and trying to save money, we did the tile ourselves after some research. We used thinset, then backerboard, screwed the backer-board down (extra screws in high traffic areas) then thinsetted the tiles down according to instructions using a 1 inch trowel and grouted. Most of the rooms are fine (for now) but here‘s the problem:Through the main pathway, we started hearing what sounded like a sandy noise. Not good as the thinset is sandy. Today, I‘ve noticed that the grout along a few of the tiles is beginning to crack meaning the tiles must be flexing. The tiles are discontinued, have brand new cabinets on top of them and won‘t be easy to take out and replace. What should I do? Would putting large rugs over it help, with the intention of cushioning the footsteps?
- A couple possibilities, the use of such a large trowel wasn t needed. The thin set may not have been set up before foot traffic was on it,and the bond was broken, leading to loose tiles and thus grout cracking. The thinset may have been to thick or thin leading to not bonding or poor bonding. The grout may have been to watery and thus weak from to much water or to much water was used in washing the tile when grouting. What are you wanting to do? Repair the tiles?Regrout? To find out if the tiles are loose, get down and rap your knuckles on the tile with the cracked grout and then off to the side in a less used area. If the tiles you suspect are loose, there will be a hollow sound especially along the edge of the tile.It should sound firm on the other area. You don t need a handy man for this. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
- Q: I had subway tile installed over a standard size tub. The tiler used 2 x 6 bullnose for the vertical boarder rather than maintaining the staggered look by using 3 x 6 bullnose short as I initially intended. Is there a most common approach for the vertical subway boarder around a tub?
- There is no particular common approach for tiling a vertical border with bullnose pieces. It is usually just personal preference. Sometimes people will not even use a bullnose piece for the border, they will just pick out some type of decorative piece and use it for the border. Assuming that you used a ceramic gloss white or black (most common colors in subway tiles) , there is usually a wide variety of sizes available in bullnose peice sizes. It is NOT Uncommon for your border pieces to be a different size than the rest of your subway tile if the size picked finishes the tile work off and ties it together in an interesting way. If however you were prompted to ask this question because you asked a Tile Installer to use the 3x6 size and he refused stating that he was using the most common method, then you are most likely dealing with an installer that did it a way other than you specified because he(or she) did not feel like taking the time to make extra cuts it would require for your size to work... The only exception to my last sentence would be if there is something structural that I am not aware of. Hope this helps.
- Q: Or can I just start tiling over the painted wall?
- in a shower or bath enclosure you definetily NEED backerboard. If you are tiling other wall surfaces, as long as the paint isn't glossy, you could tile directly on the wall. thats also assuming whoever built your house did put up the correct moisture resistant drywall and not the cheaper drywall.
- Q: I keep hearing that tile showers are a real chore to keep clean. I bought some tile sealer, and grout sealer. Will this help out significantly? How often should I reapply? Any other tips I should know about while it‘s still a virgin shower before it‘s too late?
- You should have a glaze on the tiles , which won t need a sealer at all, If it is a glazed ceramic, who ever sold a tile sealer should be shot lol. All you need is a penetrating sealer for your grout and develop good after shower habits of wiping of the water down as the others have suggested. This helps prevent water spots and mineral s from forming on the tile. If you have a very shiny tile this is even more important for water spots from showing. You still can t get away from an occasional cleaning though( SORRY lol) A good sealer, w/ 2 coats will last up to 25 years, although I have 2nd thoughts on that . But once you see how easy it is to do, you wont mind doing it every other year or so .. GL
- Q: the tile squares have come off and I need to re-stick them. Which glue should I use?
- What kind of tile, and where is it? On the wall or the floor?
- Q: Ok my room has asbestos on the vynil tile floor and it‘s in good condition. I‘m trying to put a carpet on top of the floor is it possible without removing the tile? Home Depot wants me to remove it before they install the carpet.
- was your floor installed in the 60s or before? if not chances are it isn't asbestos
- Q: I have large granite tiles on my counter that don't go all the way to the edge. Ceramic ones complete the lip. Unfortunately, to get my old dishwasher out from under the counter I had to break some. How do I remove what's left of them without damaging the really nice granite ones? Is there anything else I need to be careful about?
- The force from removing the broken tile can be transferred through the grout onto the granite tile. So first try to clear out the grout between the 2 rows of tile. Use a hammer and chisel (and safety glasses) and swing away from the tile you want to keep. If there is a mud job with thinset between the mud and the tile, try to chisel the thinset off, leaving the bottom mud-job in tact. If you're lucky, you won't have to repair it and can start laying the new tile right away.
- Q: is there any benifits to having the tiled ceilings? please answer ASAP
- Pencils are easier to stick in that type of ceiling.
