- Q: hey guys my house just got renovated a few days ago... it seems like some tiles have tough stains on it. is there a type of detergent or anything that removes it off? it looks well ugly and makes the surface rough... it's on both my floor and wall tiles
- Try fine grade wire wool. Use it gently so you don't damage the surface of the tiles. Another point to remember is to keep all pets away from the area while you are working. My dog got some fine grain plaster in his eye that caused temporary blindness and ?140.00 emergency vet's bill. Best wishes from Sue
- Q: I‘m looking to buy black and off white tiles for my kitchen walls and just wondering does anyone know where is cheapest?? and which tiles are best??? please help its my first time doing up a house and iv no idea which ones to get or where to buy them.. and we‘re on a very tight budget:( thank you:)
- Sorry, some of that wasn't really about tiling, but still: Home Depot is a great place to get tiling from. It has some extremely cheap prices! I definitely would recommend them as far as pricing. Hope this all helps!
- Q: Do I need to remove the existing 1 ceramic tiles in the shower stall, or can I apply the new 8 ceramic tiles right on top of the old ones? The sides are drywall, but the floor of the stall has 1 tiles that look like a pain to remove.
- First off, I would not put 8 ceramic tiles in a shower. (Unless you have a huge shower that can support 15 people or more, and even then, they use the 'one inch' squares... 8' tiles are not meant for showers. They are meant for applications of flooring, outside the tub or shower. (You cant slope them as needed for a shower or hot tub as the one inch ones). Also, I would never lay them down, for fear of cracking them! The small tiles can expand and contract, with the different heat of the water, while the large ones will not. They will be laying on a base of something that 'IS still expanding and contracting, even if you could clean the tiles off, sufficiently enough, (with an acid product), to remove all the soap and grime and grease and all the matter so that the mastic will stick to the individual tiles... Now, you could take the one inch tiles off, (they are laid down in rows, of either 6X6 or 12X12 inch sections, I forget which it is now...sorry). Get a cold chisel and some goggles and knee pads and go to work, chipping the tiles up... (once you get a few, they wll start to pop up real quick like). Then, try and bust out as much grout as you can, and even use a grinder if you need to, to get the rest, but, have your exhaust fan going in the bath room, and a fan blowing to give fresh air...possibly a window open and a fan blowing out, to carry the dust out...also a good respirator, so you dont get the dust into your lungs! I wish you well Jesse
- Q: I want to install Travertine tile to a fireplace surround. This would be travertine tile directly to sheetrock, painted with flat latex paint. This areawould never see moisture other than something the wet grout and sealer. Is this OK? Will the sheetrock hold the weight of the tiles? What prep is needed? Or am I asking for trouble?

- Q: I need either of two types of tile one was a sheet of multicolor mosaic tiles the other is a creamy colour with a beige sort or swirly thing going through it
- Matching dis-continued tile can be a big problem..This is why whenever I do a tile job I leave extra or open boxes behind...The only thing i can say is check every tile store you can find.....Perhaps one has an odd lot left of leftovers...If you know who made the tiles that would help the search....If you E-mail me a photo to my profile I will take a look around my area when I am at the tile stores...Usually shipping can be arranged.
- Q: laying sheet laminate over existing ceramic tile on kitchen counter
- The best answer, of course, is to pull the tile. If you want, however, you can go right over the top by gluing a sheet of 1/8 or 1/4 sheet product (lauan or cheap paneling) over the tile using mastic. Making sure it is level and solid, you can then apply laminate directly over the top. I've done it on two remodels on rental properties and it worked just fine.
- Q: I pick tiles.easier to clean = BIG plus
- Tiles! Tiles Rule!!
- Q: Tile maintenance
- Tiles daily maintenance cleaning skills: 1, such as the brick surface appears a slight scratches, can be painted in the scratches on the toothpaste, with a soft dry cloth can be wiped hard to repair. If the damage is serious should be replaced or ask professionals to repair, so as not to cause harm to the person. 2, polished tiles should be regularly waxing treatment, 2-3 months is appropriate. The gap between the brick and the brick can be cleaned with the detergent from time to time, and then brush with a brush in the gap layer of waterproofing agent, can mold growth. 3, tiles daily cleaning optional detergent, soap and so on. With soap and add a little mixture of ammonia and turpentine cleaning tiles, tiles can be more clean and translucent. 4, tea, coffee, beer, ice cream, grease and other pollutants attached to the surface of the tile should be promptly scrub, if necessary, can be used sodium hydroxide or potassium bicarbonate solution decontamination. Ink, cement and other pollutants can use hydrochloric acid, nitric acid dilution solution, and paint, paint and other pollutants is best to use special cleaning agent.
- Q: How do you show how to tile the plane? For example, if you use ‘+‘ (the plus shape)Do you merge/group the pluses ‘+‘ together to form a ‘+‘ plus shape again? Is that what tiling the plane means? Also, I am asked to determine all the basic rigid symmetries of this tiling (i.e. all shifts, flips and rotations). Do all three cases arise? No right? Just the shifts one? Then they also ask: Does this tiling have any symmetries of scale? (My question: How would you know this?)Thanks guys!Appreciate all your help.
- i've got by no skill heard of no longer having the flexibility to apply your computer on the airplane. you probable would desire to have the blue-the enamel off. some planes (purely some southwest and delta planes) easily have loose wireless on the airplane. i've got used my computer on the airplane till now its no longer a concern. you purely can't use it till you get severe adequate up. they're going to inform you so which you are able to use authorized electronics (that comes with laptops!)
- Q: should I clean the tiles in my basement or is there not worry about it? Thanks
- in my case, i like the basement to be kept dry and empty. what is so valuable about ceiling tile? you can keep them outside the house, they are part of garbage. if you want to repair the roof, buy new tile because of color matching. ceiling tile is porous and a good hiding place of germs. germs travel throughout the house from the basement because the house is warm
