Q: What is the name of a piece of water behind the car?
Is the wheel above the plastic plate called fender
Q: I own a 97' Geo Tracker 4x4 two door with 15 inch, 5 lugnut rims. I'm looking into getting some spacers so that it handles better on the road and to improve the overall looks. http://www.amazon /Topline-65506550-5-5-Adaptor/dp/B001P2FOCG/ref=sr_1_29?ie=UTF8&qid=1308016901&sr=8-29These are some spacers I've found but, I do not know whether or not they are capatible with my wheels.Any input would be nice.
Wheel spacers are a bad idea and can be very dangerous. Because they sit between the hub and the wheel, this can cause you to have insufficient stud threads for the lugnuts to hold on, and can cause one or more wheels to come off, usually at the worst possible time like trying to avoid something in the road. Moving the center of the wheels out also puts additional stress on the wheel bearings and hubs, which can cause those to fail. And as an indication of the danger, a friends car almost burned to the ground when a wheel bearing went bad on the highway, it started to catch the grease on fire.
Q: does it matter if i have 48 wheels or 54 wheels? whats the difference?
bigger the better ,the faster u go
Q: hi guys, i just got some spitifre wheels like 2 months ago i‘d say. and i‘ve noticed that they starting to cone out a tiny bit. when would u say its time to get new wheels, and how far would they generally be coned out to when you need to replace them. in other words how badly should they be coned in order for them to need replaced. thanks guys!
If they are coning, turn the wheels around, and swap them diagonally (for instance, front left wheel goes to bottom right, bottom left wheel goes to top right etc). This will make the coning gradually even out. The only time I replace my wheels is if they are flatspotted, becoming small, when they are all mangled up from skating on rough concrete, or just when I fancy a change.
Q: 2006 chevy silverao, steering wheel shakes a little while on the freeway, and jerks to the right when on the street. Do I need to get my wheel balanced or a wheel alignment? THANK YOU
First of all, might as well have a wheel balance, it shouldn't be that expensive. With the pulling to one side: check to make sure you don't have different tyre sizes, check your tyre pressures, check your wheels rotate freely, if they don't look into why - seized callipers etc. also see if you have a great deal more tread on the tyres on one side of the car than the other, as previously suggested try swapping wheels around and note the difference in the driving. Then check the wheel alignment, or do that anyway then go down this route. A wheel alignment should pick up whether you have suspension issues/defects. Also a long shot, worn wheel bearings have been known to cause vibration as well as a humming of grinding noise. Good luck!
Q: What‘s the proper way to measure the diameter of a car wheel? From all the way at the top to the very bottom or what?
i think you mean oil additives, yes some of them are a waste of money, they cant do what they promise to do ,like the one that guarantees you to give your car more power by sealing off the cylinder walls,if it will get in the cylinder walls and seal them off it will also clog something else up,so for the most part of it,they are a waste,a lot of people use them though, and swear by them, they honestly believe the additives their using is whats holding the car together,i have an uncle who swears by stp oil treatment,to him his car wouldn't start without it,some people are like that though, but you can save your money and not buy these, there's no miracle cure for a worn out engine, like they claim they will re-store one,it doesn't happen like that, good luck with it hope this helps.
Q: I need to know good rear wheel bearings to buy for my 2001 Volvo S40 and oil filter, fuel filter and air filter. Thanks!
Fram filters/ SKF bearings
Q: I saw Santa Cruz‘s: Big Pants Small Wheels. And they hard 39mm skateboard wheels, and I want to get some because I like small wheels.
in 1992. Some shops may still sell small wheels (under 50mm) you can make them smaller on a lathe. Find a rider who is getting rid of old wheels and ride them. Skateboarding is cyclical. Currently, boards are getting wider and wheels bigger. Transition skating is gaining in popularity. What was popular 20 years ago isn't necessarily popular now, but in another 20 years, it may be back to baggy pants and tiny wheels.
Q: I mean like Subaru's, which have 4 wheels, yet say they have "all wheel drive"
The difference is how power is distributed to the wheels. All-wheel drive allows the torque to be applied to each wheel independently, and usually is always on. It allows a sophisticated computer system to allocate power to each wheel to maximize traction and steering. AWD is best for traction control on roads, and is not particularly useful for hardcore offroading/mudding. 4-wheel drive, however, typically ties all wheels together (called a limited-slip differential), and you can typically disengage/re-engage it. It works well for offroading, but isn't very effective on highways.
Q: So i heard that the bigger the wheels the better it is on the road. Is dat true or does it depend on its Durometer ? And i was gonna buy some Element brand wheels.
It depends on your skating. If you want to do 4 wheel slides n such, you'll want a harder wheel. Like 97. Also the bigger the wheel the faster. If you're planning on carving a lot (and not sliding to slow down) and want to go super fast, get some big wheels like 66mm and get em soft like 85. Smooth and very fast!
