- Q: I would like to grow patchouli in my home/garden. where can I get live plants/seeds/or root stock???
- I found ours at our local garden center. I actually bought it by mistake when I was selecting herbs for a strawberry pot that I made for Cathy for mother's day. I didn't read how high it can grow, so now it's in a corner of the garden with a couple of other odd purchases. Visit our website for more gardening ideas at- www.gardening-at-the-crossroads.c... Good Luck and Happy Gardening from Cathy and Neal!

- Q: I live downstairs and I sub lease the 2nd floor which has no thermostat. 74 degrees is too hot for me...but any lower and tenant will complain of cold. Heat rises but upstairs is colder. I've tried a few tactics such as closing my vents and lowering the temperature slightly hoping for 5% more of total heat for upstairs. Still cold for her ! Any suggestions for a penny pincher with moderate handyman skills ?
- You can add in a few hot air runs if it is easy enough, OR get an inline fan to go into a pipe or 2 going upstairs. Try completely closing ALL your heat vents, as there will be small cracks the heat will go through, and make sure the upstairs is completely opened. Also, running the fan on the furnace constantly promotes better circulation, and granted you have adequate return airs in the house, it will pull the heat down from the ceiling and circulate warm air throughout.
- Q: I have a small home garden my backyard about 20' by 4'. I have the standard home garden vegetables planted, tomatoes, peppers, basil, celery, etc. I was thinking about planting some red clover in between all the plants to create a nice bed that will choke out weeds so I don't have to weed all the time, put some nitrogen back in soil, and hold in moisture during those long hot dry spells here in New Jersey. The plants are all at least a foot tall now. Would you recommend this? Or would the clover and the vegetables start competing and therefor take away from my harvest? I figured they are all big enough now that the clover will stay well below them. But I don't know if underground there will be a battle going on with the root systems. I already plan on planting the clover in the fall when everything is done growing and then till it in in the spring. Thanks!
- The trick with a cover crop is that you are tilling it into the soil before it flowers to return the nitrogen it pulls from the air into the soil. Planting it between garden plants might not be the best. If you do it, you'll at least want to mow it regularly to keep it from flowering, setting seed, and coming up EVERYWHERE in your garden. Usually cover crops are sown, grown, and tilled under either in the off season (fall/winter/early spring) or for a season in a field that is being rested (growing no crops that you're going to harvest).
- Q: I would love to join a community that would plan weekend activity to go to a member's house and do necessary repairs and yard work.I love gardening and want to learn to fix stuff around the house.I have worked with habitat for humanity and with a group in my church that goes out into the community and repair homes of the elderly.
- I will trade you 1 hour of math tutoring services for 20 dollars.
- Q: If I get a subscription of better home and garden magazine, I have to pay $ 20 monthly, or ones a year?? or what ?
- a few things you can try....you can try Bankruptcy, but like others have already told you it will depend on what you own and how much money you earn.......another way is to ride it out and wait the 7 years of limitation before it's erased off your report.....7 years begins from the date of last payment made.....another way you can try to get it down is borrow 50 g from your aunt Rose and call each and every creditor and ask to settle for 10 cents on the dollar but not more then 33 cents on the dollars...this way will work but make sure you have the money to pay them after you agree to a settlement amount. The smaller the amount owed the higher % a creditor will want from you and the longer it has not been paid will effect how much they will settle for. Make sure you get a letter of settlement agreement with company letterhead and authorized signature.......oh one more thing......wait 4 years after all is settled before being given credit!
- Q: grown by people at homes in their patios or gardens?
- 1) In homes, patios or gardens people in Spain can grow many Citrus fruits like we do. Dwarf varieties that are protected from cold in winter. 2) Spain is the main E.U producer of tropical and subtropical fruit and the only country on the continent itself currently capable of growing them. As consolidated crops, Spain produces avocados (over 10,000 ha planted, yielding some 70,000 t/year), bananas (production restricted to the Canary Islands; around 9,500 ha, of which some 3,000 are under greenhouse, yielding 420,000 t/year), and cherimoyas (roughly 3,000 ha and 33,000 t/year). Mangos (almost 1,400 ha) and papaya (around 200 ha, practically all under greenhouse) show great potential for future development. Pineapple is steady at around 75 ha, both in open air and greenhouse plantations and, again, limited to the Canary Islands. Experimental plantings of litchi show good prospects. Minor crops under evaluation include carambola and guava. A review of the actual situation, problems and prospects, as well as the main lines of research, is highlighted in this paper.

- Q: I've just started looking around for infomation about trees and growing zones. There are a few I'm intersted in finding out more about, but cant seem to find the infomation I'm looking for *prob because I'm not in the right gowing zone*.Anyway, does anyone have a good site in general about trees?I'm looking for information about Ebony Trees and growing them, I'm also looking for willow tree infomation, japanese maple infomation, and general tree care/planting.Thanks
- The best trees for any area are the ones that grow there naturally. Willows are easy to grow in wet areas but they are short lived and easily broken by ice and wind. Japanese maples need the right conditions of light and moisture and are not necessarily long-lived. Check out the eastern redbud, beautiful flowers in the spring, easy to grow.
- Q: and do they come with ninjas or do i have to pay more for them??Thanks in advance...Poll-Trench or Coat???
- New or refurbished with freshly removed stains? Trench :)
