Q: My 1982 paperback version of the Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book finally fell apart after 30 years and I've lost my favorite Chicken ala King recipe. BHG changed their version online, it's not the same. Can anyone please help? Thanks!
I have made this recipe many times I found them on internet and yes this has always been a long-time family favorite recipe. Ingredients ?1 (4.5 ounce) can mushrooms, drained, liquid reserved ?1 green bell pepper, chopped ?1/2 cup butter ?1/2 cup all-purpose flour ?1 teaspoon salt ?1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper ?1 1/2 teaspoons chicken bouillon powder ?1 1/2 cups milk ?1 1/4 cups hot water ?4 cooked, boneless chicken breast halves, chopped ?4 ounces chopped pimento Directions 1.Cook and stir drained mushrooms and green pepper in butter or margarine over medium heat for 5 minutes. Remove from heat. 2.Blend in flour, salt, and pepper. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is bubbly. Remove from heat. 3.Stir in instant bouillon, milk, water, and reserved mushroom liquid. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir for 1 minute. 4.Stir in chicken and pimiento. Heat through.
Q: I asked this in home gardening, but I think this is where it should be asked. I need a quick fix on how to ground outlets so as i can hook up my satalite receiver computers. Cant afford an electrician to rewire a rental, the landlord is no help.
Ok i'm not a professional but I used to have the same problem in an apartment I used to live in and I bought some outlet adapters at the hardware store. you plug it into the outlet and then you can plug the 3-prong plugs into the adapter. good luck
Q: I have all the Better Homes Gardens annual recipe yearbooks from 1983 until 2006 - except I cannot find anything for 1992. I have written BHG called Meredith the publishers - but no one can give me an answer - any collectors out there? Thanks.
LOL, wow sorry i have no idea. I wish I could help ya. I didnt even know they published a yearbook. I do hope you find what youre looking for though. Take care.
Q: i used clearisil for 2 days only on 2 pimples 4 tiny small bumps in my cheeks.the 3rd day i decided to put it all over my face because i had a lot of red and the box said it relieves redness and prevents pimples. then yesterday i woke up with some extra redness in my face so i applied foundation like always. when i got home i noticed my face really red like a sunburn and it hurt during thursday night. now its peeling.can anyone help?
go to a home and garden store and buy an aloe plant (they are really inexpensive and extremely easy to care for) then snap off a small piece and squeeze out the goo inside, and just spread that all over your face. it will help soothe the discomfort immediately, and should speed up the healing. this is what i do whenever i have a burn or a cut or any dry skin. after that helps you can try putting vitamin e on it, just in case the skin wants to scar from the damage. in the future, for pimples i use Jason teatree and arnica gel (you can get it at save on foods, or you can get generic brand teatree and arnica gels at healthfood stores) and i find that works amazing without damaging my skin. best of luck!
Q: I sent for your Better Home and Garden the first part of April and have sent my payment on April 20, 2007 and have not had the magazine come in the mail yet. Carol Wilcox Box 164 Paris Idaho 83261
You should go to the better homes and garden magazine site. This is a question and answer forum for us general people with nothing better to do. Just kidding. Get a hold of better homes and gardens magazine.
Q: Building two 3 x 8 foot raised beds and looking for suggestions of what grows well in Seattle.
Almost anything you have room for, but in a cool or short summer you may have trouble ripening an entire crop of tomatoes or anything else that likes a lot of heat such as peppers. If you plant things like that, try to pick ones with a short to maturity time. Check individual plants or seed packets for best planting times. They're all different. Some like cool weather and can be planted as soon as there won't be any more frosty nights, others like more warmth and can be planted early indoors but are best set out when the weather is warmer, usually sometime in May.
Q: I have a project for my job, which is coming up with fun or entertaining activities that would be beneficial to the environment and that the community and students can participate in. The community garden is the FH King community garden in UW-Madison.
Have you considered looking at citizen science projects that require people to conduct surveys of plants, bugs, etc.
Q: any advice?what do i need?i've never done this before.....
Start small. The biggest mistake that novice gardeners make is that they go overboard on the size at first. Gardening is a lot of work and the bigger the garden, the more work. You don't say whether you are planning to grow flowers, vegies or both. For your first year, I would recommend that you limit your selection of seeds or plants to not more than two or three different things. If you are wanting to grow vegies, remember that in addition to weeding and watering, you will also have to harvest and store....so be prepared for some work. It is worth it though. There is nothing that tastes as good as home grown vegies.
Q: What are the decorating trends this year/or season for a home? What room scents are the most popular, candles, incense, etc. What flowers are popular for Fall and Winter(store bought of course)? What colors are in as far as wall color and general room color of the furniture to the decorations? I am oblivious when it comes to designing and decorating I could use a little bit of help please. Thanks! =)
did you see this?
Q: im a total beginner. i hv a medium yard n im in Canadawhat are the easiest fruit and / or veggie plants 2 grow in ur first garden? by any chance, can i grow blueberries/raspberries/strawberries??
Res berries and straw berries are pretty simple. You can buy a few plants and they will pretty much take care of themselves. Give them plenty of space as they will spread if allowed. I've never done blueberries but I think they are the same pretty much. Tomato and peppers are easy as well. Buy the baby plants in the spring and water when dry. Most seeded vegetables are relatively simple. Follow the directions on the seed package. Also put a shot or 2 of miracle grow on you plants every week or so. Hope this helps. Growing a garden can be very rewarding.
