- Q: Working on a new couch/sofa decor in my living room (Macy's) and I do need the feature of it opening into a bed so i can place a guest in there... However i am NOT looking for a futon... Any ideas how I would find out if the cushions come out and you just pull it out? Some description? Anyone dealt with this before?
- You can't have been looking into this very seriously so far since EVERY furniture store I have ever been in has multiple options for pull out sofa beds. Just go to any furniture store and they will demonstrate how the various models work and you can lay on them and test the comfort. But, as others have pointed out, unless you pay a lot of money for a really good model, the beds themselves tend to not be very comfortable (matresses have to be thin to fold into the couch and often the frames can be felt through the bedding). If you can afford it, look at sofa beds from Arhaus or West Elm -- they are a bit more pricey than the department store brands but should be more stylish and sleepable. Or do the inflatable bed options. I agree those inflatables are extremely comfortable and a hell of a lot easier to move. If you plan on moving any time in the future you will HATE the sofa bed -- they weigh twice what a normal couch does.
- Q: I have been told that cushions look tacky on leather sofas by an interior designer which i doubt! What do u think? Many thanks..
- I have a big brown leather 2 pc suite and I have 2 stripey fabric cushions on each one. I think it looks really nice. Leather is cold looking and the cushions warm it up. It's upto you what you prefer!
- Q: Is this material a good choice? Can I prevent the marks it leaves after rubbing your hands on it? I heard it's good to clean, but I think that's the only advantage.
- This material is extremely durable, wears well, and cleans very easily and very well. It's a great choice if you have children or pets or are in the habit of eating/drinking on your sofa and expect the occasional spill. Usually a damp cloth works but even grimy and matted fabric can be cleaned up with the help of some fabric cleaner. The hand marking is inevitable because the material has a pile. There is no way to prevent this. Agreed it's not the best look but you can get rid of it by brushing the pile in one direction then look but don't touch!

- Q: Hi, I have a beautiful leather sofa and it's creamour two year old has discovered pens. The simple solution is 'hide' the pens, but with three older children in the house doing home work sometimes pens get left around.If she draws on the sofa.. is there anything that would bring it out without ruining the leather?Nicky
- This really depends on what type of leather it is. If it is on a pigmented leather then the first thing you should try is an ink stick. The fresher the ink the more chance you have of removing it. It is a good idea to have one in your house if you have a pale leather and children!!!! You should also be using a good quality leather protector on a pale suite. This will act like a 'scotchgard' and will make any more mishaps easier to clean off. If an ink stick doesn't work a solvent based remover will need to be used and it may also remove finish and pigment so is best left to the experts. Hairspray sometimes works but can also make the matter far worse as it can spread the ink over a bigger area. Nail varnish remover or any other solvents will remove the finish and pigment which will need replacing. Baby wipes are about the worst thing you can use on a leather sofa as they break down the finish and will eventually ruin your suite. If the ink is on an aniline style, there is nothing that will remove it because the ink will have re-dyed the leather. It may dissipate over time with cleaning and protecting.

- Microsuede manufacturers recommend that you do not use Scotchguard -- it reacts with the fiber and causes stains to bond more than without it.

- Q: my 1 year old cats ripped our sofa to pieces so we got new leather sofas but how do we stop them scratching them too . At the moment they are outside day and night but they can't really live out there because we live in the country side and who knows what they could do !!

- Are you writing about a sofa that you sit on? I have not heard about this. But if it is made of a polyester material, it could cause pollution and make the air you breathe toxic. I know a person who is allergic to polyester material. I think you need to add some more details and material to your question............

- you can make a slip cover with any similar colour or something that is in contrast with your room colour hope this helps:)
