- Q: i have a 1989 Nissan 240sx and im trying to install an aftermarket Pioneer radio (DEH-P20), my car only has 2 speaker which are in the front right and left side doors, i've gotten many wiring diagrams to help me install it and im pretty sure i have connected the wires correctly. the only problem is that after i got done connecting it, the radio wont power on.. if theres a defective power wire, what can i do to fix it? and also, where EXACTLY do i connect the Ground wire? oh and why does the car wires have multiple same colors for example, theres like 3 light blue wires non striped from the car, etc.?thank you
- Hello, I too are having a problem with the radio on my 90 240SX. The old radio was working but it did not have a cd player. So I bought another radio and wiring harness and connected everything. But the problem is there is no power to the new radio. I checked the fuse uner the dash and it was OK. So I plugged the OLD radio back and now even the OLD radio does not have power. What is going on? Please help.
- Q: I am trying to replace the window switch for the driver side and forgot the order of the wires. Can anyone hlep me.
- The switch should just unplug from the harness---if you took the wires out for some reason, you'll have to check a wiring diagram or another Firebird or Camaro to figure out the correct pattern.
- Q: how do I wire the generator so it can spin 360 on the pole with out snapping the wires.... Thanks
- You need some ring contacts and brushes that will be touching those rings that will be spinning while the generator does to complete a circuit without twisting wires. Make sure you get the right size rings and wire for the amount of current
- Q: i want to install a new light in a old house.the problem is that there are three black wires coming out of he ceilng.the old light fixture has two black wires. two ceiling wires are connected to one fixture wire and the other ceiling wire i connected to he other fixture wire.i dont know which is the hot wire and which is the comon wire.also the new light has a ground wire ,2 blue wires and 2 white wires but, there is no ground wire coming out of the box. please help
- A lot of the older homes only used two wires, a hot and a neutral. You need a tester to find which is the hot wire and connect the two blue wires to that wire and the two white wires to the neutral wire. Be sure to turn off the power when you are making the connections. If the ceiling box is not grounded there is nothing to connect the ground wire to. It is important to identify the hot wire as it connects to the wires that go to the center connection of the lamp socket and the neutral connects to the metal screw in part of the bulb. This will reduce the chances of getting shocked when changing a bulb.
- Q: I know that a fuse is connected to the live wire. And I was wondering; since a fuse and the circuit breaker are similar, would the circuit breaker also be placed so that both terminals of the circuit breaker are connected to the live wire? If not, would it be connected to a wire that connects a live wire and neutral wire?
- The neutral wire is never connected to to a circuit breaker or fuse. It measures the current passing through the hot wire and opens if the current gets to high. Although the same amount of current passes through the neutral wire, an open breaker or fuse in that wire would let the load be connected to the hot wire but not to ground so you could bet shocked from it.
- Q: I am trying to test a engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT), and in one of the tests it states quot;connect the terminals of the electrical connector with a jumper wirequot;. Where can I find a jumper wire? Does it has to be an specific gauge or any jumper wire? please helpd
- Jumper wire is just any piece of wire that allows you to connect two other wires/terminals whatever. You could probably even use a paperclip if it will fit, just have to be careful when jumpering that you don't let the bare material short to ground.

- Q: Just bought a new amp for my truck. The speaker outputs needs to be indiviually wired to the door speakers. Do you splice into the speaker wire or the trucks harness?
- ideally you want to wire directly from the amp to the door speakers with new speaker wire but doing this properly requires removing some of the trimming and passing the new wires throughout the car. you can also take the easier route and pass the wires from your amp up under the steering wheel behind the center console and splice them into the existing wires going to the door speakers. as long as the wattage isn't very high the latter shouldn't be a problem. however, if it were up to me i would use new wires and pass them throughout the car, removing the trimmings, etc. this can be somewhat of a pain to do if you have never done it before though.
- Q: ok so i wired the subs to the amp now, the positive (Red) goes to the battery, the ground (Black) is currently grounded to the metal under my drivers seat. My question is does it matter the color wire is that goes to the stereo? Can i use a red or black? Does it really matter? If not, where exactly would i hook it up behind my aftermarket sony headunit?
- If your talking about a remote wire there should be a blue wire with a white stripe coming out of the wiring harness for your receiver/head unit... And run a wire from that to the remote terminal on your amp. All this does is send a 12v signal so when you turn the key on your car/truck it signals the amp to turn on. If your head unit does not have a remote wire you can run a wire from your amp to your ignition..
