- You can use Cat5 as speaker wire, you need to twist all the wires together and use one wire for positive and another for negative, there are several tutorials on the net on how to use it for best results but its really more trouble than its worth, I use OFC wire from parts express, but any OFC wire or copper wire should do...For shorter runs (under 15 Ft) any speaker wire should work as long as its the proper guage, wire,.. needs to be thicker for longer runs, the guage of the wire is more important than what wire you use, I use 14 guage all the way around just makes it easier to set up and looks better. Inside walls you want to use CL3 wire...this is what code requires in most states...the guage of your wire is going to be determined by the length of your run and the nominal impedance of your speaker, I linked to a chart below that will help you determine guage for your system....what I usually look for is flexability cheaper wire tend to be stiff and is hard to work with while better wire is very flexable, but either will work...
- Q: I notice my 10/100 Ethernet wire uses 4 wires (2 twisted pairs). I'm curious what each wire is used for. I understand one pair is for Tx (transmit) and the other for Rx (receive) but why does it need 2 wires for each? I assume bits of data cross on one, but what of the other?

- Q: I was re-wiring a light switch and a fan control knob and I accidentally cut a wire too short. This wire comes out the front of the fan dial and goes around to the back, connecting to another wire, thus placing a wire nut impossible. Can I just link the two ends together, then seal it with electrical tape? Or do I have to buy a new fan dial (which will cost $25, a cost I'm trying to avoid)? Will just the tape be safe enough?

- 8gauge 3 wire means exactly what it says. you will be getting a number 8 cable with 3 wires in it...the best thing to do is dig the trench put the wires in conduit and use 3/0 wire..Will last years longer and you probaly will not have to dig your trench back up in a few years.

- two wires go to the cooling and two to the heat . Rc is for red wire cooling , Rh is for red heating , i would think the white goes to the W/B ,i would guess the blue wire goes to Y . but you can call the 800 number for tech help

- Usually there is a black wire (hot), a white wire (neutral), and a green or bare wire (ground)... in an ideal world:) If you need to find the hot wire, you can get a non contact voltage finder from lowes or the hardware store. This device will tell you where the AC voltage source is coming from without you even touching the wire. You will need to remove the old light and wire nut the wires. Then turn the electricity back on, use the detector to find out which wire is hot. Connect the black wire on the lamp to the hot wire.

- Q: i have a 00 gmc yukon and tried installing my cd deck. i pulled off the original harness from the stock deck radio and now its just all wires (its my first so i didnt know), i connect the alpine deck wires and tried to connect them all together. i had a few figure out, except a small noise coming from my stock tweeters every time i step on the pedal. then my speed odometer sensor was going with the bass of my subs... whats wrong? can someone find me a chart of what color wires supposed to go where? thanks for your help
- Hey bro why dont you buy a wiring harness from best buy or OKorder it can cost u like 10 bucks or so and it will be alot easier to connect the head unit. That noise that u are hearing is the ground, that ground that u have is either no good enough or it is loose. Good Luck
