- Q: I will have 100lbs of live rock and I want to know if his is fine? Not the full length of the aquarium but not far from it. 1 daylight 10k and a actinic 10k. I will get a timer and make the lights turn on at 7a.m. But before that, I wake up at 6 for school, so I will turn on room light. Its not that bright. Turn off room light at 7 and timer begins at 7. later at night timer will turn lights off at 7 and from 7-8 I'll have room light on. Led lights from 8p.m. To 6p.m. Will this be a good routine for a FOWLR set up? I also have live sand if that effects anything. The lighting is 24 watt each. Is this enough for LR and LS? - Yea I suppose, It would be better if you had better lighting, but a fowlr system doesn't really rely on photosynthetic organisms. You'll have more slime algaes because of the low light intensity but long light hours. I'd cut the hours down from 12 hours, to reduce the algae build up. The room lights aren't a real factor, it's not intense enough to add anything good to the tank. If you float some plants/macro algae near the surface it might be even better. Adding more hours doesn't make up for low intensity; If this were a reef, you'd have to have a lot more bulbs, and higher wattages.
- Q: Is the recessed lighting sort of a projected light to where the cans are pointed like miltiple spotlights throughout the room or will it light up the whole room like normal lighting would? I'm would like to add 4 recessed lights in my living room with a dimmer but I want it to light up normally. Is this possible? Ps, can I use the wiring that's already available or do I need to run new wires to the breaker box?
- you are confusing track light with recessed lighting. Recessed lighting is recessed into your ceiling. You cannot see the lighting unit, as it is hidden. Track lighting is the opposite of that. Track lighting affixes to a mounted track fully visible usually on the ceiling, but could be on the wall as well. Track lights can be moved with relative ease and pointed in just about any direction. You can use existing wiring depending on the breaker size and amps pulled from other fixtures the circuit.

- Usually yes BUT you have to do your research: normally a low light plant that is given large quantities will thrive and grow faster, on the other hand you have plants that dont tolerate high light such as the java fern which goes transparent and dies if its given high light.

- Yes they will and yes you can use LEDs. BUT.... different plants have different lighting requirements. They sell several different types of LEDs for plants, but for plants that would grow outside in full sun most growers would consider them inferior to more intense lighting, but they seem to offer good light output for wattage used and they can be had with different spectrum's designed to be more efficient than others. One brand that is popular is the 90watt. UFO design. They also have a 300 watt type. Depending on what your growing you might want to add supplemental lighting of a different type too.
