- Q: I recently purchased a 3 soft box portable lighting kit using fluorescent tube cool lights. I have been this far unimpressed with the light output, and I was wondering if simply adding a hot-shoe flash to my camera would help out, or if I should invest in a hot spotlight or a ring flash. Shooting with a NikonD40x and I'm not sure about the flash sync capabilities if I go for the flash ring.
- Don't keep throwing good money after bad. Almost daily there are people on here warning others to stay away from cheap studio light set ups. If you start doing the things you mentioned, you are going to have nothiing but a horrid mismatch of color temps and white balance problems as weil as control problems. I suggest you sell everything you have on Ebay or where ever and do things right like you should have the first time. A good start would be the Alien Bees website. They have great studio strobe lights and kits, and the prices are not outreageous, though NOT cheap either. You get what you pay for. steve

To power my recessed lights, I plan on using the red as my hot lead. However, which wire should I use as my neutral lead, white or black?
- The clamp that goes on there is tightened to the Romex with two screws and then to the junction box for the canned light with a star nut on the male end on the inside leaving 6-8 of wire to be tucked into the box after making your connections with the wire nuts. Unless you are a magician, you will have to take each one apart. This strain relief is made of metal. But as I live in 1 of three counties that don't allow Romex, I'm not likely to be in the position you are and not think of this in planning. The ones that are purchased at Radio Shack are for something else and are meant to be used where they can be seen and not hidden. Now on some metal junction boxes, there is a clamp that you have to unscrew to get the wire behind it. I haven't seen those sold separately and you would need self tapping screws. By the time all is said and done with this, you might as well stay conventional and do it right.

- You actually need three sources of light in most rooms. Natural light- window. Ceiling light/fan combo is great for a bathroom. Two side lights illuminating either side of the face. Lighting above a mirror casts shadows. Make up and shaving alike are less than great! That is the optimum.
- Q: when you turn the key two clicks on the ignition and it shows all those lights like check engine or whatever, do those lights mean you need to check something or something is wrong? cause my battery light goes on and my check engine light but when the car starts the battery light goes away and the check engine light stays on, im not worried about the check engine light cause i know whats wrong just the battery light

- I recommend you gold, copper or brown eyeliner as well as black. If you want them to appear like hazel use green eyeliner. HOpe its useful!
