- I work in a vacuum sales/repair shop and I believe the Dirt Devil classic or ultra vac are your best choices. They are bagless/bagged units. They are NOT cordless. They only corless I sell, is a high power unit for about $70. The DD will run about 40-60.

The other thinks you vacuum before you dust...So which is it, do you dust before you vacuum or after?Please help this is so small but I would just like to do one of those kinda I told you so things.. - omg you should totally dust first! that way, all the dust that come flying off your furniture lands on your carpet. So, then after you dust, you can go back over and vacuum so not only are your floors clean, you have also eliminated the dust from your house, not just spread it around. Let me guess, your husband thinks you should vacuum first? haha! You're right! Another victory for you!

- Right they are built like tanks, Powerful and rugged. In fact I have an old kirby vacuum unit, just the motor and blower mounted on a old shop vac that went bad. The Kirby was bought by my grandmother over 50 years ago and its still running.

- Based on personal experience, avoid multi function floor cleaners. They are too heavy and do not perform any function well. For basic mopping, I love the scooba (the robot). Carpet, especially where pet hairs are a concern, the bagless Hoover Windtunnel. Hard surface floors, a canister and/or the irobot.
- Q: What kind of vacuum cleaners get around baseboards the best? Mine does ok with the floors but the edge cleaner is bad.
- Go with a Dyson. They are worth every penny and are super powerful. They come with all the attachments you need, including and edger cleaner.
