- Q: I did some research and found that HEPA filters are ideal. I'm just not a vacuum expert, and I don't know which vacuum to use it on. or how.
- Central vac systems as the other posters are talking about are great but hard to install in a house that's already built and expensive. But if you have the funds, it's a great way to go. My favorite of all time vacuum is the Bissell Healthy Home that I have now. It's got the HEPA filter and has a filtering technology similar to Dyson for 1/2 the price. Well made, solidly built unit with a 5 year warranty on it. On sale, you can find them for about $200, regular price is $250. My middle son (grown and on his own) is allergic to cats and we now have 4. I got the Healthy Home and did a really thorough cleaning with it. I was pretty disgusted with what my Hoover Wind Tunnel had been leaving in my carpets. Son came home for a visit a day or so after that. He didn't have near the allergy issues! We regularly use it on the upholstered furniture also. Because I have so many pets, we vacuum about every other day. Regardless of what you get, you need to keep the unit clean. There are washable filters in most units that you rinse out in the sink and let dry and replace. The cleaner the filter, the better job it does. None of the uprights do a really good job on bare floors but there is a way around that. Sears sells a generic bare floor brush that with the adapter included in the package fits right on the extension wand of the Bissell. Your upright is now a canister! Cost $13.00 plus tax. Vacuums are one of those things that you get what you pay for to a point. I wouldn't go cheap even if it has the HEPA filtration but I don't think it's necessary to spend major bucks either. I've seen too many Dyson units come back to the store for issues and have to be sent out for repair. Try telling a lady that the vacuum she spent $500 on a month ago is broken and needs to be sent out for repairs, it's going to take 6 weeks at least and no, she doesn't get a loaner.
- Q: I need a good vacuum for my floors - right now I sweep every night - then i swiffer wet jet or clean with wipes on my hands and knees. Im very OCD about my floors being clean as you can tell - Ive tried the BISSELL stick Vacuum for hardwood floors but it is worthless - the basic broom seems to work the best but still doesn't get everything... what is the best Lightweight inexpensive vacuum out there for that type of flooring.... thanks guys for your info!
- I use an Oreck vacuum on my hardwood floors. I've had many vacuum cleaners in my life and now only use and Oreck, its the best IMO. It's lightweight so you don't feel like you're hauling a monster around, easy maneuverable, suction power is fantastic, the service is great too. Just an excellent cleaner.
- Q: it annoys me so much, i wish they would make a quiet one
- Well, consider that most dogs don't make the connection between the vacuum cleaner and the fact that you're using it to clean the house. It's just a noisy, scary looking contraption that you turn on once a week and wipe all over the floor, usually shooing them away from the place that they've been resting. Many dogs like vacuum cleaners, but the ones who don't are usually just scared of them because they don't understand them.
- Q: s there a place that will let you rent vacuum cleaners for like a few hours or a day?
- Yes there is
- Q: Does your self-satisfying involve vacuum cleaners?
- Lol, no, but I did trim my junk one time with an electric razor, then used the vacuum to clean up the hair on the sink. I mistakenly left my nuts on the sink and got one sucked into the hose. I couldn't get to the off switch fast enough. I turned it off, and all was good..just sore for a few minutes. Hard to believe, but true story!
- Q: Where can i find the vacuum cleaners listed in the consumer reports?
- You okorder
- Q: The vacuum has a really loud noise to it. At one point I seen grease/oil on the floor while it was running. The noise sounds like it needs grease or something. I'm thinking the bearings, but that's just a guess. Please can someone help or advise of a website where I can find the quot;how to fixquot;. Dyson support was useless. They just said to send the vacuum in or bring to a repair center at my cost. My options aren't big, I live in a very small town that doesn't have many or if any repair centers. Thanks in advance for anyone that can help.
- Hi its Darran at Dyson. I am concerned that you have indicated your machine was leaking some kind of oil or grease and neither of these fluids are used in the manufacture of the DC14 or indeed any of our vacuum cleaners. If your DC14 is making a loud noise and is not running correctly, we would strongly advise you take it to a local repair centre or call the Dyson Helpline for assistance. If you are not able to take it to a repair centre, we can arrange for it to be collected and taken to one. We would also recommend not using your Dyson vacuum cleaner until you have this issue resolved. Kind regards Darran Dyson Customer Service

- Washing machines, irons, and irons, I would say probably in the 1910s or 1920s, but dishwashers, dryers and hair dryers in the 1960s. I was 4 y/o when we got our first TV (1952) and was out of college and working when I got my first color TV (1973).
- Q: I have a 700 square foot apartment with carpeting and a cat...
- Vacuums are like cars everyone will have a favorite. Dyson is most likely the most expensive. as far as the best they all have their good points after years of use where I work we ended up with a sears vacuum (link below) it works very well it is under $80 so we can replace it as necessary we have used commercial vacuums at $800 each and the sears cleans just as well . We get about 18 months use out of these and about 5 years out of the commercial vacs our vacs are in actual use about 7 hours a day (we have a 24 -7 operation) I have one of the sears at my house have had it for 4 years still working just fine. My suggestion to you is to go to sears and compare the different vacs they have all brands. Pick the one that you like the best. they all have a different feel you might not like one because it feels heavy or too light, hard to push, awkward attachments etc. Good luck on your decision
- Q: I've been waiting for it.
- LOL...............I think that could be very clever! I would laugh,,,,,,,,,,,,,and I would watch that commercial!
