- Q: I have a couple of speakers that came with a Sony HI-FI system I bought. The model is CMT-GPZ7. The two speakers that accompany this system are not magnetically shielded (it says so in the instruction manual). Still, I would like to put these two speakers by my CRT monitor. The question is: if I put the non-magnetically shielded speakers by the CRT monitor, will this damage the monitor? Will it damage the speakers? Or both?I don't want to risk damaging any of my hardware.Thank you for your answers.
- There should be no danger to your speakers. However, large speakers have large, strong, rare-earth magnets in them. They could pose some danger to your monitor and your computer if it is close. Also, any magnetic media would be at risk as well. Do you have any 3.5 discs laying around that you still want? Another issue is that most computer audio cards are not designed to drive these types of speakers. The card is typically designed to have powered speakers connected to it. Trying to drive unpowered speakers may cause damage to your audio card.
- Q: I have a receiver that has 100 watt max output per channel. Currently, all outputs except for 1 are being used. I have 2 small speakers that I want to power that are 50 watts max each. What would happen if I connected the two speakers to the 1 output on the receiver? Also, the receiver allows you to adjust the volume of each speaker so if needed I can turn down the volume to just those two speakers. Any ideas or input? Thanks
- the max output of reciever would split between the 2 50 watt evenly but be carfull as when one of the speakers is not or accidently unplugged the remaining speaker will get the full 100 watt and will blow
- Q: I recently bought an external speaker from CD-R King. Once plugged in my Asus K42F, a weird sound was produced by my Altec Lansing built-in speaker. After which, Altec Lansing's Left speaker isn't working anymore, while the Right speaker have worst quality ever. I need help with this. I plugged in a headset, quality's good. When I unplugged it, the built-in speaker sounds like trash. Help everyone.
- It is possible that the external speaker connector is bad, or the solder connections on it were bad, and plugging things into it are making the connections to the internal speakers worse. When you plug something into that jack, while connection is made to the external speakers or headphones, it also disconnects the internal speakers. If when you remove the plug, the contacts are not made solid to the internal speakers again, you could have a result like you are describing. If you put in your headphone plug, and move it around a bit, take it in and out a few times, does the other speaker ever cut back in for a few seconds or intermittently, and does the bad sound in the other speaker consist of the audio getting cut in and out or a scratchy sound? If so, could be that the external speaker/headphone jack is bad. One thing for certain, there is no way that the external speakers CAUSED damage to your notebook or it's internal speakers. YOU may have caused damage by putting too much pressure on the jack while plugging the speakers in, or when removing them. Or the jack could have been defective from the factory, or had a cold solder joint. Without being there to look at it myself, I can only give these guesses.
- Q: Hello I currently have the alesis m1 active USB 320 speakers they can't handle bass to well. I have some logitech x-530 subwoofers at my new house would I be able to connect my speakers to the logitech subwoofer 5* feedback best answer cheers
- It depends a bitare you wanting to use the old speakers with the new subs? Since your old speakers are USB does your computer have a normal sound card output on it? If it does then yes you can connect it and it should work fine, if not then you will need to get a soundcard for the pc. Now your old speakers will not directly connect to the logitech speakers if that is what you are asking, so your USB speakers will be one connection and the subs another connection.
- Q: I have two separate speakers that have the same jack, I have two jacks but the problem is when I plug both of them in only one can play sound. How can I have them rum simultaneously?
- With computer speakers usually one connects to the computer and the other connects to the first speaker. If your speaker system had a subwoofer, it's possible one or both satellite speakers plugged into the subwoofer. My subwoofer connects to the computer, the two satellite speakers connect to the subwoofer. The other jack on the computer is for a microphone.
- Q: I need a new surround left speaker for my surround sound system, and was wondering if I could buy single speakers, and does it need to be the same kind as the speakers that I have currently or can I just get any old speaker and that will work when I hook it up?
- i does no longer propose it in any respect. those abode theater in a container are no longer very sturdy interior the potential score they provide. by changing the speaker resistance it additionally reduces the potential going to the audio gadget. in case you had a receiver then it would be no concern in any respect, as a results of they are rated to handle audio gadget from 4 to eight OHM. desire this might assist you out.
- Q: I just got these 2 speakers, my grandmother passed away a few months ago, and I just got these 2 speakers she had in her den. Idk what it was hooked up to. It is a Soundesign Model 633 two way speaker. I really don't know much about this kind of stuff, all i know it that the plugs go into RCA ports. They dont have any specific color on them either, I tried hooking it up to the RCA ports on the back of my HDTV but nothing happened. What do I hook this damn thing up to to make them work?
- They need to be connected to speaker outputs. If your HDTV has speaker level outputs designed to connect to speakers, then you can connect them directly. Chances are it doesn't though, (the TV probably has only line level outputs designed to connect to other electronics, not speakers) so you'll need a stereo or surround sound receiver to power the speakers.
- Q: I have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier coupe with 4 speakers and they are kind of weak. I have been offered box speakers for my car. I have the manufactured stereo still and i hear that i cant connect the speakers with that. Is it possible to just go through the other speakers wiring?
- I don't know what you are referring to when you say box speakers. Sounds like you're talking about subwoofers. If so, you'll need an amp. If they are boxed 6x9s or something, you can just hook them up with the original wiring, if the impedance is corrct, but why would you want to? Just replace all the door speakers with aftermarket ones. The only way you'll get more power, regardless of what speakers, though, is with an amplifier. That is where power comes from, not the speakers themselves.
- Q: I wanted to know if i could just use a fm transmitter with speakers on their own without a radio hooked up to the speakers? im not sure. a bit of a guess but you may be able to use the fm transmitter on the frequency of the speakers if thats possible? Sorry if this sounds stupid. it sounded like a good prank idea at the time. :)
- speaker wires will sometimes act as antennas, and a signal at the resonant frequency of the wires, can sometimes be heard through the speakers. Most of the time, this kind of resonance just produces noise.
- Q: i need a speaker system that has radio/clock/ipod functions and has exceptional sound quality. i have been looking at the geneva s model and the bose wave. i love the design of both but when it comes to song i can get very picky. when it comes to design i LOVE simplicity. who can offer me some insight on the sound quality of these systems and also any recommendations of speakers i might like. thanks so much
- Which Bose speakers are you comparing? If you are referring to the Bose Sounddock 10 or the Bose Acoustic Wave Radio then I would argue Bose over Geneva speakers. The legacy of Geneva speakers are formidable. They have been in the studio and offer great insight into music, but the sound quality of the one's I have heard is lacking. Best I can put into words is the sound is arrested, held up, masked even muffled, it could be so much more, but it cannot. Geneva didn't give their best sonic effort to match their reputation, design and colors of the Geneva box. On the contrary, either Bose units provide a robust vibrant well rounded sound stage. The Bose Sounddock 10 does it best of the three. It is hundreds less out of pocket. My recommendation is to go listen to the Sounddock 10, be sure to turn it up, then turn it down, see what you hear. Best.
