- DO NOT USE THE NAIL POLISH REMOVER as recommended by the previous user... use an oil based paint thinner.. it takes more time but the nail polish remover WILL melt the plastic!

- That might be a good solution, if you have a place to buy them at a good price. I usually put up a heavier curtain or drapery in the cold weather. I like to be able to open them when the sun is coming in. I also close the blinds in the evening. I don't think the plastic works all that well either. Good luck keeping warm!

- I just did the same to my windows today and the best way is unfold the entire roll on the ground. It is easier to separate the film making it easier to open. ONE HUGE HINT!! When applying the double sided tape make sure that you undo at least an inch of both sides of the tape before you apply to the wall. It makes it easier to undo the second strip of the double sided tape. I hope this helps.

- Blind or shade? Wash with TSP if its a blind, and use any paint you want, preferably stencil paint. Forget it if it's a shade. Paint will not stick to flexible plastic permanently

- Perhaps some would and others would not. Each builder would build a building according to the specifications of the owner and developer. If the plans call for glass normally glass would be used, on the other hand if the plans called for plastic then plastic would be used. Some cities require a certain material to be used in building a building prior to the issuance of a building permit. Some cities require energy efficient windows, therefore the deciding factor as to the type building material has bee determined by the city or county who issue the building permit. - mmmm....lets see. Is a hard surface denser than a sort surface? well,,,,,Since sound has a harder time passing thru a dense surface thus REFLECTING off of it.... I'm gonna say go with the hard surface;)

- you get windows tinted by the amount of light they allow to pass through. they range from 5%-70% (5% being nearly pitch black). if you can find the tint number on the other windows you may be able to match it if you went to a dealership.

- I have the same problem, they make a product that is a shrink wrap for windows, you put it up and hit it with a hair dryer and it shrinks to fit with no tape or tape marks later. You can find this stuff and Lowes Home Depot or your local hardware store. We use it every year in hour house and rentals Also it is totally transparent, you won't even notice
- Q:Have very little budget to work with, paid Marshall Construction of Kalamazoo to do the roof, haven't seen him since (Even with the contract), windows are in really poor condition and need to be replaced but don't have the funds to do it (Lost job like everyone else in Michigan). - Never pay a contractor to do the work before the job is done. If they say they need cash upfront to get the materials, that should be a red flag that they do not have an account anywhere to get supplies. Yes, plastic on the windows helps tremendously if done properly.It keeps the air out. You will notice a big difference.I put an electric blanket on my bed, so I am able to turn the heat way back at night.I always try to wear warm socks and sweats around the house when I am home.If it is real cold outside, I make sure I leave the doors open under my kitchen and bathroom sinks to help the pipes stay warm. Close any outside vents or insulate basement windows.My house is only 900 sq ft also, and my gas budget is $38 a month.Keep warm.
