- Q: I have a hard drive that has an enclosure is there any way to take an internal 3.5hard drive and convert it to an only usb cable portable hard drive with no power cord?
- No. Not a 3.5 hard drive. You can do it with a 2.5 laptop drive because the drive mechanics and electronics require less power. A 3.5 drive requires too much power for USB to provide. Though... In the near future, you will see USB ports that are capable of supplying more power than the standard .5 amps that USB currently provides. So after they come out, you might see it being a possibility then.
- Q: I was playing Call of Duty Black ops when i looked down at my mess of cables. I have a lamp the also plugs into the same power outlet. When i looked down my lamp(that i leave on 10 out of 24 hours of the day) had this white stuff on it. - Q: I live in the Arizona desert, on a flood plain. Most of the time things are pretty dry. But during monsoon season the area I live in experiences flooding. I am planning a shallow, square, sunken pond. The main pond will be 4.10' L x 4.11' W x 3' deep. I plan to build an 8wide wall around the pond to keep out flood water. The wall will be made of standard red bricks. I plan to make the wall 2-3 bricks high. This would make the wall itself around 5-7 inches tall. The foundation for the wall will be concrete. Do I need a waterproof concrete sealant for the foundation? I plan on installing a power cable for my submersible filter between the EPDM liner I plan to use, and the mortar for my brick wall. Should I use sand between the mortar and the cable to protect the cable from the mortar? The cable will be encased in PVC as well.Thank you.
- You should use a concrete sealant, it can't hurt. Put the cable under the foundation in PVC and it will be fine.

- Ok, straight to the point, keep it plugged. Besides losing the power over the time you have it unplugged, most laptops are equipped with a power saving feature that reduces it's power consumption. This means that the PC will have to use less for processing which in turn reduces your PC's speed. To check this out, try booting your Laptop with plug on. When you see the desktop, look for the my computer icon on the desktop or on the start menu. Right-click on it and select properties. Look for some number preceding Ghz and remember it. now, unplug the power cord from the laptop and restart the PC. do the same thing when you see the desktop after the restart. notice that the number you had the last time decreased. (if it did not decrease, then it means your laptop still operates at the same speed when unplugged and will be fine when unplugged) besides the speed reduction when unplugged, the screen will be dimmer when unplugged. also, when the batteries are full, they are not charging when the plug is still on the laptop. the laptop will use AC power when it knows that the batteries are full and it's plugged in.

- In most vehicles there are spare holes filled with rubber plugs. Pop one out with a screwdriver and make a hole in plug a little smaller than the size of the wire for a very tight fit. If it's a smaller size power wire, it can sometimes be run through the same grommet as the vehicles main harness. Be very careful not hurt the existing wire. I have seen people get careless and screw the harness up and it's not easy or cheap to fix. When doing this I usually use a stiff wire (a small diameter yet long screwdriver can work too) and slide it through the grommet. I then use electrical tape to secure the power wire to stiff wire and pull it through. Make sure your penetration point is still leak proof after doing this. You may need to use some silicone and or electrical tape to seal it up.

- Q: So, recently i purchased a new graphic card and it requires two 6 Pin PCI Express Power Cables. My current power supply generates 650W and only has 1 six pin PCI express power cable. Im at a loss to what to do now. Do i purchase a new power supply that has more pci express cables? Or do i open it up and add a new cable? Thanks if you can take the time to answer my question.
- you can purchase a molex to 6 pin pci express power adapter, this will fix the problem. This solution will work only if you have a spare molex connector you are not using Forget about what that other person said, that your power supply isn't big enough. 650w is more than enough to power a mid to high range graphics card
- Q: i just got a new motherboard but after reading throuhg the manual i coudnt get any instructions on which cable goes which way. pls i need some one to help me. all other connections are okay i suppose but afraid to just connect the power,and the reset button cable any how.
- With most motherboards there is only one way to attach the power cable to the board, otherwise it just wont fit. I believe there is a little notch on the cable which should line up with the notch on the board
- Q: I got a Alienware m15x about a year ago, and about 8 months ago on startup it would make two incredibly loud beeps and a screen would show saying 'your charger cable is not the reccomended 150w originally shipped', even thought it is. It would only happen very rarely at first, but now its nearly every time. I don't mind just ignoring it, but if there is a quick fix it would be nice.
- Try going to the support site and seeing if there's a download called BIOS Flash or something similar. You might also try going into the BIOS yourself (It should say something like Press F2 to enter Setup) and looking around for anything out of the ordinary (as far as your knowledge extends.)
