- Q: I just received my new office chair and it has adjustable lumbar support. How do I determine the appropriate placement for my body?
- The purpose of a lumbar support on an office chair is to maintain the natural curvature of your back known as Lordosis. When properly set it should be adjusted to support the lower part of your back in the area roughly between your waistline and the rear of the bottom of your ribs. When it's correctly positioned it prevents the lower part of your back from straightening or curving outwards, try to sit back in your seat to make sure it makes good contact with this part of your back.

- The chair is supported by what amounts to a shock absorber ,much like the ones on a car. You didn't say how old the chair is but I think it must be old enough for the shock to have worn out. Either put up with you sink-o-matic chair or recycle it and get a newer model. The cost of repairing it, even if you could, would hardly be worth it unless you have a really big sentimental attachment to it.

- Q: Came upon 4 Kittinger chairs. Look like dining chairs. No arms. Brass Kittinger tag on the bottom. Paper tags say pattern 2118 also serial number. Wood with striped pattern seat and back. Great shape. Any info would be great possible worth. Thanks.

- chair railing can be inexpensive (relatively) depending on what design you want in it....its pretty easy to install but if you are doing it on your own and are not familiar with how to miter (for the corners you will want to miter) you might want to take a couple of practice stabs on a scrap.....ideally you want a miter saw for this but its not totally necessary (i have used just a circular saw set at the proper degree)....if you get it custom cut at the hardware store then be sure your measurments and angle degrees are accurate because once its cut there is no giving it back, you still have to pay for it, and you still have to buy more to replace it

- You okorder /... I have a papasan chair and so do each of my teens for reading (bought them all at Pier 1). They are the MOST comfortable reading chairs I have ever found. You can sit, lounge, lay back, relax, and just about do it all in one of these. Enjoy!
- Q: Over the years the foam in my leather chair has lost its ability to to firmly support someone. Replacing the foam is not a DIY endeavour. Are there any reupholsters in the Toronto area who can do something like this at a reasonable cost? The ones I have contacted are too pricey.
- Hi pc, I would suggest if you have any local Upholstery Schools ( colleges Night Classes etc ) in your area you may want to call them and inquire of any available help with your chair cushion. Many times the students in class are willing to replace and repair as part of the upholstery classes. Which because they are students, this repair may cost you a lot less. Good Luck!
