- Q: My 7 month old son is 90% breastfed 10% formula. I read that he needs 11mg of iron a day. I also read that it isn‘t in breastmilk, but he hates to eat cereal and I think that is his main source of iron. I have tried mixing it with fruits/veggies, gerber juice, water, and formula/breastmilk, and he still doesn‘t like it. Is there somewhere else he can get iron from?
- Does your baby have a yellowish tint to his skin? If yes, then he's not getting enough iron. If no, then he's probably doing just fine. :o) Skin tint is the easiest way to know if there is an iron deficiency. My son refused formula completely around 9 months, so I tried supplementing iron with other foods. Didn't work out, so I got him on iron drops. All is well now! If you're still concerned, bring him to the doc and ask them for an iron test. They can do it in minutes.
- Q: Hi, I just got a temp. job ironing bedding, curtains and stuff like that. I have a little knowledge on this, but I need to know how to deal with different fabrics such as silk. What are mandatory things I should know so I do this correctly? Any help or advice about ironing would be great.
- cool iron for silks, test on an unseen part before ironing Cotton , use the high temp, but be careful u do not scorch the fabrics, To day, most fabrics do not need ironing. Rayon and dacron will burn . When irons men's shirts iron the collar first then the sleeves and continue On the inner facing on the button area, iron neatly so the button area do not pucker up, Ironing takes time and experience, good luck.
- Q: Does meat, chicken, pork and hamburger have Iron? What about Eggs? Or a salad?
- Beans, dark leafy greens (chard, collard greens), lentils, dried fruit, tofu, grains (quinoa, fortified cereals, brown rice, oatmeal), nuts and seeds (pumpkin, squash, pine, pistacio, sunflower, cashews, unhulled sesame)
- Q: My iron level is 9.34. Is that ok? Or is that extremely deficient?
- They used to say that 13-15 was good They used to say that blood pressure of 120 over 80 was good. They used to say that body temperature should be 98.6 See, those things are averageswhich means you have a bunch of high readings, and low readings put together, and divided into a single figure. And averages undermine the idea that each individual has a normal for them My iron tends to run about the same. If I take iron, I don't notice much difference, even though my test results go up A person who has a genuinely low level of iron, for them, can tell a difference when they take it. So if your doctor suggests it, and you take it and you feel better, you know for future refference, that 9.34 is low for youand that you hould be mindfull to eat more foods rich in iron and vitamin C (the latter increases the amount of iron you absorb)
- Q: I‘m changing to a new set of irons soon. I‘ve been using the r7 draw irons for a few years and my coach suggested I get a new set of irons with a muscle back blade, not a cavity back. I‘m 15 and have a pretty low handicap so i was wondering which sets of Taylor Made irons I should get?
- Define better. Are you looking for help hitting it straight and/or higher? Look to the Burners: they have thicker soles, more offset and longer blade lengths. all three add up to forgiveness and help with adding distance. If you don't need that much help, but aren't quite ready to win USGA-sanctioned amateur events, go with the R11's. Whatever you do, get the new set fitted to you! You will make the clubs work for you, which is always a bonus.
- Q: i have tried at least 4 times to do apheresis. and everytime, my iron levels have been too low to donate.what foods/drinks reduce the iron in the blood.
- Some foods reduce iron absorption. For example, commercial black or pekoe teas contain substances that bind to iron so it cannot be used by the body Dietary factors that reduce iron absorption Certain foods and drinks reduce your body’s ability to absorb iron, including: Soy proteins can reduce absorption from plant sources. Tannins from tea, coffee and wine reduce iron absorption by binding to the iron and carrying it out of the body. The phytates and fibres in wholegrains such as bran can reduce the absorption of iron and other minerals. Vitamin A helps to release stored iron, so not enough vitamin A in the diet could lead to iron deficiency. Calcium and phosphorus reduce the absorption of plant-sourced iron.
- Q: Do Iron supplemrnts all contain other ingredients? My doctor only mentionedtaking Iron pills due to my low hemoglobin. My B12 is fine but I am deficient inIron. What is the recommentd strength and how often per day.Martin Siegel
- I recommend Iron Plus C Complex. The vitamin C is added for better iron absorption. Also the iron is plant based, so there will be no problem with possible constipation. One tablet daily is recommended. Hope this is helpful and feel free to contact me if interested in the website.
- Q: why is steel stronger than iron?
- Every material is made up of atoms which are very small parts. Some atoms hold together quite well, which is what makes some solid materials hard. Something made of pure iron is softer than steel because the atoms can slip over one another. If other atoms like carbon are added, they are different from iron atoms and stop the iron atoms from sliding apart so easily. This makes the metal stronger and harder.
