- Running electrical wire and any other wiring in the same conduit is against electrical code. It is potentially dangerous and could cause damage to your equipment, shock hazards to the users, and possibly start a fire. Don't do it. Your insurance company wouldn't cover any damage from this illegal wiring.

- 1. The purpose of the grounding rod is to give electrical equipment and its housings a grounded reference point. Without this the voltages of these might go wandering off to indeterminate levels causing (in extreme cases) arcs to jump on to passers by or door handles to provide major or minor shocks. If there is a fault in equipment which causes an higher voltage part to come into contact with a grounded part then a current may flow into the grounding rod. The return path of this current is through the ground (earth) via another grounded point (e.g of the local supply transformer's star point) and thus into the transformer at its low voltage winding end. If the supply has no such grounding point (this would, by the way, be most odd but it is physically feasible) then there would be no fault current flow but the grounding would still provide a degree of security from high voltages.

I believe there is a code that says there must be so many inches of clear floor space in front of any electrical service panel. I believe then that your example may violate that code and may not pass inspection if there is one in place for your area.

- No, electrical engineering course is not one that will qualify you to be an electrician just as doing a nurse's course does not make you a doctor. This question is asked on a regular basis. The simple answer is that each state has its own electrician licensing laws. Some of these can be found by doing a Google search for electrician licensing laws in texas or whatever. In most states, having a degree with a major in electrical engineering will not be sufficient to allow you to legally do the work of a licensed electrician. Your degree will give you more knowledge of pure theory than an electrician needs, but doing a degree course will not have taught you how to use tools, how to terminate and install cables, how to select equipment and calculate cable sizes and how to perform inspection and testing procedures. Most importantly, your degree course will not have taught you the National Electrical Code and local codes.

- Well. it is very good major Oil and Gas companies need ur major since the instrumentation is controlling the whole units. Huge Essential System and very critical in any refinery such as: DCS : Digital Control Center. ESD: Emergency Shutdown. UPS: Uninterrupted Power Supply ( Electrical Equipment feeds instrument load) I think u have a bright future with this discipline if you have interests .
