- Q: Can someone go into detail on this air force job? Don't just give me a website, I'm looking for actual experience or reasonable knowledge of this field. Would a civilian career be any good with this field? Please let me know! :)
- Hello. I retired some years ago from the AF with 24 years of service. The entire 24 years, I was in aircraft maintenance. The field that you are interested in is part of the aircraft maintenance field. There are several other jobs in that field such as airframe, engine, and areas such as communication, fire control, navigation, etc. Any job on the flightline is not a 9-5 job. Lots of 12-16 hour days, and 7 days per week will be in your future. Aircraft maintenance people are among the first to deploy to any war zone. You understand that in the military there is no such thing as calling in sick or being late for work. No matter what anyone else tells you, this is not like anything else that you have ever done. The good part is that every day is different and a new learning experence for you. Even though you will have to work like a dog most of the time, it will be a good experience for you. After a few years, you will have the confidence to tackle almost anything. As far as a civilian career, almost all aircraft maintenance jobs require a FAA Airframe and Powerplant license. The AF does not provide that to you, it is something that you have to get on your own. Your time in the AF will be as good as you make it. There are lots of rules that you are not used to such as weight and fitness standards. One unique thing about military service is the camaraderie that is hard to duplicate in the civilian workplace. Good Luck!!
- Q: I am an undergraduate in Electrical Engineering and I want to design and work with generators. What institutions research electrical generators? What companies design/build electrical generators? What is the difference between electric drive systems and generators? are they the same thing?Much thanks.
- Design of those is pretty straightforward, as they have been around for over 100 years. So your only possibility is to find companies that manufacturer them. Small ones are usually made in China. Large ones that are used in power plants are made by companies like GE and Siemens. Contact them for information on job opportunities. electric drive systems ? do you mean electric motors?
- Q: for my hair dryer and other electrical equipment
- Its a 3 pin plug herenot to worryjust get your stuffyou can buy a converter herealso electricity is 110V. so be mindful of that as well.cheers
- Q: I just heard tapping noises coming from the back door. The back door leads to the laundry room and multiple storage rooms. There is also all the heating and electrical equipment down there. The leak is coming from a pipe at the ceiling in a storage one, the room beside all the electrical equipment. The floor is soaked and the water is leaking a lot. Am I in danger?
- Are you in danger only if the water comes in contact with electrical wires yes have the pipe repaired call a plumber don't wait til Monday when it will be cheaper because it won't when the ceiling collapses some one may get hit with plaster board and the. You wind up with an even bigger hole . The longer you wait the more it will cost. Especially if a fire were to start remember water and electricity don't play well together some one can be electricuted
- Q: I just got a cpu cooling system (fan/heat sinc) the fan stopped working, ive blown it out and it still will not work. I dont feel the need to replace a brand new fan. Any ideas as to what went wrong with it?
- Since it's a brand new fan, that's all the more reason to look into replacing it. See what kind of warranty you've got with it, or just take it back. For all we know, it could have been a dud straight from the factory.
- Q: I have a hanging, pull-string electrical light in my attic. This is very standard stuff. I would like to purchase an electrical device that will screw into the electric light and give me an electrical outlet. Think of this as a device with the base of an electric light bulb and an electical outlet instead of the bulb. I thought I saw one in a hardware store 20 years ago, but I have no idea if this product still exists. I can not think of what it would be called with a technical name when searching for one on the Internet. My business application is to be able to plug equipment into my attic rather than running the cord into the main house.
- It's called a light socket adapter. There are many places that sell them. Take care not to overload the low-current lighting circuit though !
- Q: I mean for SF6 (gas) containers used to refill electrical quipment such as circuit breakers, must the container be discharged completely, or is it possible to retain a partial amount of SF6 gas in the container for future refilling activities? Any electrical experts out there, would really appreciate your assistance with this. Thanks!
- Check the MSDS sheet for safe transport. Is a seal broken before use? Do the containers get returned after use or are they discarded (how?). Your local power company must have info because they use this stuff at switching stations.
- Q: I seem to have an adverse affect on computers and electrical equipment. My sheer presence seems to upset them.I'm not a stranger to technology, so it's not me being dim, but more and more often I've crashed supermarket checkouts, I was even sent to the other side of a store by my husband because the computer our details were being loaded on crashed time after time. I walked away and all was well in the world (well the store anyway). My laptop (even with the latest updates) has a mind of it's own sometimes. Coincidence or am I electrically overcharged?
- You must be the illegitimate child Zapdos.
- Q: An example of something would be one light flashes and another light goes off. Or Lights that are already on, turn off, another one turns on, and lights flash, then the whole process repeats itself again after a while.
- A clock driven multi-pole programable time switch. They come in both mechanical and solid state flavors.
- Q: I am a freshman of the engineering program at the university of Wyoming. Right now I am going into electrical because I wanted to stay in Wyoming and I thought that it would be easier to get a job in the production and distribution of electricity through something like Rocky Mountain Power. I don't mind doing the math and physics for electrical, but I am thinking that I would enjoy becoming a mechanical engineer. At the moment I believe mechanical is much more hands on, designing parts and testing them. I don't know what these two would lead into though. Electrical makes more money, but is that worth it? Also how hard would it be to get a job in this region with mechanical?
- both electrical and mechnical are good field.
Our company owns several automatic production lines and enough experience in the production and research of linear actuators and controllers. Our products are popularized in many occasions when need to be implemented with rectilinear motion such as electrical nursing beds, operational beds, traction beds, massage chairs, dental chairs, electrical sofas and show-cases. These products can adjust heights, move between front and behind, as well as angle change, which take the place of gas springs as well as AC decelerators.
