- Q: hi me and my friends made a lounge out of my old tin roof shed we have a tv speakers and a few other electrical goods... since winters on its way we were wondering whats the best and cheapest way to insulate the place note that its a tin rof but has wood under it where the old indulation used to be the place is pretty chilly and sometime damp plz help we dont wanna be freezing our asses off in there thanks :)
- What is he using glue on? Buy rolled fiberglass insulation, install it between the rafters and wall studs...paper side in. You can cover the walls and ceiling with drywall, OSB, plywood if you wish. You do realize that insulating your shed isn't going to make it much/any cooler don't you? You will need an air conditioner for that, but the insulation will help keep the AC in.
- Q: this room has an aluminum roof and hardwood siding. All the heat hit the aluminum roof
- CUT ACCESS HOLE I/S HOUSE BLOW FOAM, IF YOUR LAST NAME BILL GATES! TRY FIBERGLASS BLOW DYI @ HOME DEPOT OR ROCK WOOL EVEN CHEAPER VENTILATE THAT ROOF - SOFFIT - TO LET AIR IN ROOF, RIDGE, AIR HAWK, WHIRLI-BIRD, POWER FAN ( SOLAR ), GABLE VENT - TO LET IT OUT!!!!
- Q: My boyfriend has just moved into a flat in a newly converted house. He's up in the loft, and has just discovered that the roof isn't insulated.Does the landlord have a legal obligation to insulate the roof?
- To comply with UK building regulations all lofts must be insulated... Q22. How much loft insulation do I need? A22. To meet current Building Regulations you need 270mm of mineral wool insulation. 100mm between the ceiling joists and 170mm laid over the joists.
- Q: please help..
- too add to that housing insulation wouldnt help you with dampening it would make it worse by absorbing the sound, try talking through a pillow for example/
- Q: if you had snow and all the snow is off your roof and the house nex store has snow do we need insulation?
- Yes,you do need to insulate your attic. Heat rises. If you look around the neighborhood and everyone else has snow on there roof and you do not than you need to insulate your attic because your heat is going through the roof and melting the snow off of it. Easy job to do.
- Q: I'd like to put a train set in my loft / attic, so to avoid it being cold in there during the winter I'm considering having no insulation in the floor of it where one usually would, thus allowing the heat to rise into the loft. Then, insulate the roof between the rafters instead. Is this just as good at keeping the heating costs down?
- That's a far more complicated change than you realize. * The added area exposed to exterior conditions will increase your home's total heat loss with the same insulation values. * When that roof was installed, there was some form of venting sceme installed as well. If it was based on an insulated attic floor, it might need to be changed for an insulated roof. Get some advice from a 'pro', before you do anything.
- Q: House is a bi-level. Recently added storm windows to deck off dining room. Having a new rubber roof installed would like to know if we can insulate ceiling to make the room warmer. What product do you suggest we use. we are getting conflicting answers, some say you can insulate others say the ceiling needs to breath having a rubber roof install. Please advise.
- Yes, you can. There is a little plastic piece that you will want to tack to the underside of the roof though before you install your insulation. It is a plastic air vent that keeps about an inch or so of space between the roof and the insulation so that air can move through. You need to do that so the roof can breathe as they say. If you don't allow it to breathe, the difference in temperature from outside to inside will cause the roof to sweat and will make your roof go bad a lot quicker.
- Q: Have a patio with metal roof, gets very hot during summer. Will Great Stuff insulate and stick to hot roof during summer? Thanks
- Probably could, but it would look like crap. Painting the roof white would do a better job of keeping the metal cooler. I'd install a ceiling fan in the center of the roof instead to force the hot air out.
- Q: What is the difference between roof and loft insulations?
- Potentially that the roof itself is insulated on the underside. A loft insulation could be that the base or floor of the loft/ attic is insulated. Otherwise, I'm not sure.
- Q: I am in the process of having a new roof installed. What are my options in regards to improving its' insulating properties?
- I’m guessing you are asking about the attic. Spray cellulose insulation is the way to go. Very green with 80% or more of the product made from recycled paper. Wet or dry depending on the need, with some system allowing for a DIY application.
